It was disappointing that the free breakfast had been discontinued.
It's a bit of a walk from Shinjuku Station, but it's straight so it's easy to find.
I didn't use it, but it's convenient that it's directly connected to a convenience store.
I guess it was bad timing when I checked in, as it was crowded and I had to wait in line for a while. Maybe because of that, the tea in front of the elevator was sold out, which was disappointing.
I was grateful that there was an air purifier with a humidifier in the room, and I used it.
The biggest turnoff is the mattress firmness. It is so hard, each day I wake up with a body ache. I wish the mattress is a bit softer, and if cannot be, would the hotel provide a mattress topper?
The hotel is fine if you’re looking for something cheap.
time I visited I was not well and the reception staff allowed me to check in
early which helped a great deal in that I could rest straight away.
I thank you for your kindness and look forward to seeing you again soon.
If you're hungry, there are various restaurants for soba, gyudon (good ol' Yoshinoya), some cafes and restaurants around this area. If you're saving, there's a Lawson convenience store at the ground floor of the hotel.
The room was very small studio type room which I think was perfect for a female solo traveler like me. I'm always out of the hotel anyway exploring Tokyo so this is a welcome break from all the hostels. The room itself was very clean with complete amenities. It is also very quiet so nothing will disturb you. The bed mattress is quite hard though so I have some trouble relaxing. Nevertheless, the sheets and pillow (Tempur pillow) are soft.
The breakfast has croissants and breads which are top quality. There is overflowing juice and coffee in the breakfast area which has a very friendly and comforting "home" ambiance where travelers meet.
For a gaijin (foreigner) like me, the most important thing is that the staff was helpful, courteous, kind and knows how to speak English. I stayed at a grander hotel nearby than this before but the staff here is better! They were helpful in giving me help on how to get around Tokyo as well as answering my questions on how to say certain Japanese phrases as I travel. I am grateful for the staff for the great experience!
There is also a 100 yen bus that goes around Shinjuku from Keio Plaza Hotel to the west exit of Shinjuku station. You'll get there to Shinjuku station in 10 minutes for such an affordable amount. The bus starts at around 7 and ends at around 9 pm. If you're traveling late, you have to take a 15-20 minute walk from the station.
My only complaint is that the inn entrance is located at the 2nd floor. They turned off the escalator going to the 2nd floor so I had to carry my luggage around 20 steps up the stairs which was grueling. (It's an inn so there's no room service.) I was able to use the elevator to the ground floor once I was able to check in but this first time up the stairs with my luggage was really exhausting.
All in all though, it has warm service and good value for money. If you're a traveler in Shinjuku, this is a great place!
One advantage this hotel has over some of the others in the area is that it has been recently renovated. There is also a convenience store in the same building. Great when you need a midnight snack.
The only problem with this place is that is is a little far from the main hub of Shinjuku. This is the business/government side of Shinjuku Station. It is only a ten minute walk from Shinjuku JR (Japan Rail) station, but you need to get out at the right exit (I would suggest South Exit - when you come out of the South Exit you can just turn right and walk along that main road until you find the hotel). There are lots of department stores and restaurants all around the station, so it is not hard to find something to eat. The other side (East), however, is much more lively, so if that is what you are looking for, you might want to look at hotels on the other side.
I needed a place to stay for a couple of nights before moving into an AirBnB accommodation nearby. I was looking for a reasonable business hotel that was close enough to Shinjuku but not too crowded.
I chose Keio Presso Inn Shinjuku because it was the most reasonable business hotel in the Shinjuku area and the photos also looked decent.
Furthermore getting to the hotel from the airport was fairly easy as I took the airport limousine bus to the Washington Hotel and then just a 5min walk to the Keio Presso Inn. (note: travellers can get a round trip bus ticket to the airport for a very good deal so on my way back I made a seat reservation at the Washington Hotel a day before I left).
Impressions: All staff were very friendly, and they speak some basic English. Since I can speak Japanese it was not an issue for me at all to check in. Procedures are simple, you check in and pre-pay for your stay upfront. My room for 2 nights came to Y16,335 booked on a Japanese hotel intermediary for a Thursday and Friday night stay, checking out by 10am on Saturday.
I booked a non-smoking room including breakfast and it came with everything you needed. All standard items are in there, the bed is firm and the pillow is somekind of a memory cushion thing. 2 things that caught my eye that is different about this hotel:
1. it came with a air filter and humidifier
- since rooms are fairly small, it can stink up quickly especially after walking around in the hot sun coming back sweaty etc..
- also the humidifier helps when you are asleep to keep the air moist, instead of dry air con which leaves you sounding like a toad in the morning.
2. Febreeze spray!
- absolutely love this stuff, especially after coming back from dinner at an izakaya, you can use it to spray your clothes, hang them to dry and they smell normal the following day.
There's a 24hr Lawson convenience store at the entrance of the hotel, so this is good if you are keen for a drink/snack etc.
Breakfast is quite decent, the hotel lays out shredded salad, dressing on the side, potato salad (sometimes), croissants, bread rolls, jam, butter, juice, coffee, and tea. All is self serve and plenty of seating.
WiFi is very good in this hotel and no hassles to connect.
For my travel I ordered a mobile WiFi from Japan Wireless so I could travel around the country using data as my means of communication.
It is a decent hotel with friendly staff and nothing else I can fault on.
If I ever go back to Japan I'll for sure stay at this hotel and I highly recommend it to other travelers.

This brand has no comparable US 2, 3, or 4 star hotel. It may equate to a motel.
Room: Very small. Just large enough to fit the bed and TV table. The desk is not large enough to work at. Very little room for luggage. The TV has no foreign stations (e.g., CNN, BBC, etc.). Telephone usage is only available through the use of pre-paid calling cards which are available in the lobby. Internet access if available in the room. The shower is just large enough to fit a single person. The shower and faucet utilize the same water supply, so you need to select. The bed is large enough for a quick night's sleep. You get one small window. The room is very dark. The photo of the single room on their website is very accurate!
Cleanliness: Very good.
Environment: If you travel to Tokyo, you will find that they love to keep things warm, and this hotel is no exception. Even in the heat of summer, you will find the room about 80 degrees. Cooling system worked very well in the room, though the elevator and hallways will make you sweat in the summer.
Check In/Service: There was always someone there that understood just enough English to get by. Very friendly staff.
Overall: Not recommended for a business trip. May be good for a quick stop.
