Nestled in a prime location, Shinjuku Washington Hotel Annex draws guests with its proximity to local attractions and transportation hubs. The cozy breakfast ambiance is a highlight, although the rooms often leave travelers wanting more, being described as small, outdated, and sometimes not as clean as expected. While staff interactions range from professional to disappointingly slow, many reviewers appreciate the functional amenities and the dining options available. However, the overall value proposition of the hotel is a matter of debate among guests, who are divided over the balance between convenience and comfort.

This hotel ranks #1 for the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in. We stayed on the women's 14th floor in a twin/double room. The hotel photos of the rooms are very deceiving because the furniture is actually smaller than normal. Although we appreciated having a fridge, a tv, a kettle, and some hooks and hanger we struggled not having enough space for our suitcases, toiletries, and food items. The room featured a Japanese unit bath - something I enjoy experiencing - however, the bathroom was elevated and stepping around inside of it sounded like a drum. The bathtub was deep, but very short and hard to climb into as a shorter person. The window was small but had a large ledge for which we could store some of our items. Our room was south facing and would get extremely hot during the day and the air-conditioning only allows you to adjust very little. There is also a very strict cleaning rule in the hotel - they must clean every few days for which you need to be out of your room for a large portion of the day. We got sent a couple 'notices' under our door as if we were breaking some law for not wanting our room cleaned, lol. We joked that we were about to be fined for being disgusting, lol.
The pluses of booking this hotel is the price (by comparison to everything else), it's proximity to Shinjuku Station, and it's relative quietness with plenty food and convenience options located inside and around the hotel. Inside the hotel are 2 convenience stores: Family Mart and Lawsons. If you need a snack or drink you do not need to go to far. There are 6 elevators and although there would be the occasional wait, it was never longer than a couple minutes. There is laundry onsite with a coin exchange machine (only accepts JPY 1000 bills), though it is a bit small and therefore busy and slightly more expensive. There are a few restaurants on site including a fishing restaurant (!). There is also a karaoke bar in the basement, but it seemed pretty dead inside. If you need extra toiletries the hotel provides some free of charge in the lobby area.
I would say skip the Cafe & Bar Baron, their breakfast buffet is overpriced at JPY 2100 and pretty disgusting (unthawed fruit, scrambled eggs were soup, and just generally not tasty). One of the restaurants was closed for some reason during our stay, but we did try the Italian restaurant which was pretty good.
The three lowest floors of the hotel are like a mall and are comprised of the hotel lobby, restaurants, the convenience stores, and a few other services, but it has a pretty empty vibe to it. We may have also joked that it reminded us of a local dead mall from our home city.
If you are looking for a cheap and somewhat quiet hotel in the middle of the Shinjuku universe then this is your place, but keep in mind that you will be living in a hot closet! Good for a couple nights stay, but perhaps not for 5 or 6 nights like we did.

As you are probably aware, the Japanese people are small of stature, so Japanese architects are trained to design dwellings with shoebox dimensions. We suspect the rooms in the Shinjuku Washington Hotel in Tokyo feature prominently in the training manual. We were fortunate to have a slightly larger room on the curved end of the hotel, most are plain rectangular boxes.

The small entrance corridor doubles as your wardrobe, is home to the humidifier and another mystery unit, possibly a heater, and the entrance to your small modular bathroom. The bathroom, whilst small is functional, with the obligatory heated toilet/bidet, bath/shower and vanity basin. You may also need to boil your kettle here, so logistic layout and roster planning is essential. The rest of the room houses your double bed, prepare to be trampled as access is limited to one side, and a couple of uncomfortable chairs. So practice your synchronised breathing and prepare for encounters of the close bodies variety.

The highlight of the hotel is probably the breakfast venue on the 25th floor with its scenic view of the Tokyo CBD. The buffet breakfast scores a 9 out 10 for environment, 6 out of 10 for variety and quality, and the usual 2 out of 10 for the temperature of the hot breakfast fare. Another potential plus are the small restaurants on the lower floor for lunch and dinner, although the choice is limited.

The location is good close to the government buildings with its two free city observation towers, nightly light show and landscaped gardens and parks. Check-in is slow, check-out is lightning fast. Unable to comment on the tariff but in retrospect we would probably be looking for a hotel with bigger rooms. “My foot has gone numb, you must be standing on it, dearest!”

Checking in was very cumbersome. The room was of the usual small size equipped with plastic shower / bath cabin with awkwardly high step. The room had two beds with hard mattress on which we slept well. The heating is centrally controlled, the window cannot be opened. The ice chest was filled with two bottles of water, each dav new and at the kettle coffee and tea. The beds are changed on day four. The check-out was by machine very fast. The hotel has no bar but many restaurants. The hotel does not live up to its four stars. A disappointment.

I stayed here for business purposes.
It's a large hotel, so many different types of people stay there. Foreigners traveling alone, students camping and training trips, etc. I checked in late from Haneda Airport by limousine bus, but there were several convenience stores, and many restaurants and izakayas in the building, so it was very convenient. The room was a normal business hotel. It seemed a little small, but my room was cleaned nicely.
The problem was breakfast. I booked both nights with breakfast included, but on the first day, there was a long line of over 50 meters on the top floor, so I gave up and went to the venue on the third floor. There was no view, and the room, which was designed to place seats efficiently in a small space, was very cramped and it was impossible to enjoy breakfast leisurely. It was difficult to even look at the menu (I feel like the flow of traffic is bad in the first place), so I left in a hurry. On the second day, I gave up on breakfast and didn't eat it. As someone who prioritizes breakfast when choosing a hotel, I don't think it will be an option for me in the future.
Also, the foreign staff at the front desk tried their best to help me, but the information on the accommodation certificate I requested was inappropriate, so I had to go through the trouble of asking for it to be reissued after I got home. I think it would be good for the staff to support each other as well.
The view was very nice.

I spent three nights at this hotel during a group tour. The positives include a location close to Shinjuku station, walkable outside or by underground passage. There are a number of restaurants in the lower floors, as well as a convenience store (and these are excellent in Japan). There are two hotel restaurants, one on the third floor (where the lobby is situated) and one on the 25th floor ( the Manhattan). I had breakfast here each day and the food selection was excellent. Try to get a window seat for the best views. This is a very popular restaurant so expect to queue up to get in. Elevator security is good; your card automatically unlocks your floor. The shower has good water pressure. The room was clean.

The negatives (for a westerner) include rooms too small to swing a cat in. The only way to open your suitcase is to put it on the bed and there is no storage space. Daily housekeeping does not include making the bed or vacuuming. But at least they provided fresh towels. The rooms are not soundproof and I could hear my neighbours talking and snoring. The bed was hard and only one pillow was supplied. I left with a backache. The (small) windows do not open and the air conditioning does not feel fresh. There are two electrical sockets and one USB, but the voltage did strange things to my phone. I arrived a little later than my group only to find that the front desk staff did not know who I was.

This hotel was conveniently located but did not meet my personal standards. I would not recommend staying there for more than one night.

Very comfortable. Exceptionally centrally located. Totally well-maintained and filled with amenities like restaurants and shops.

There is a shuttle that leaves from right in front of the hotel, taking you to the Haneda or Narita airport. You need to book it online.

The hotel is also right across the street from a government building that has exceptionally good cityscape viewing from the top of the building. They also project a light show onto the face of the building at night.

Coming out the front door, turn right and on the next block, right there on the corner is an excellent coffee shop. Keep going straight down that alley and you're on a long road filled with shops and taking a side street to the left near the soccer shop will land you in a really cool shopping area.

Oh right, the hotel, it was great. Lots of USB and electrical outlets for charging. Lots of free toothbrushes, razors, etc. in the lobby if you lost or forgot one.

They offer luggage storage as well, either by a self-serve system on the third floor, or a staff-assisted tag-and-store right neat reception.

It's a pretty easy stumble home from the Golden Gai area, with dive bars in dark alleys in Shinjuku. Lots of fun and drinks and food 24/7.

I choose this hotel for its proximity to Shinjuku station. It is one of the closest hotels to the station; nonetheless it took us a good 15 minutes to walk to and from the hotel to the various rail and subway lines. Shinjuku is a massive station.
The hotel must be very popular as the day we arrived pin Tokyo we tried to check in at around 1pm. However there was a very long queue of guests wanting to check in as well. We had to wait for more than an hour before we could approach the front desk. Once there however check in was smooth and fast.
The room was a triple bedder and small, there was hardly any space to lay our luggage. It had all the usual amenities and was clean. However our room was behind the lift well and there was a constant "whooshing" sound, caused by the displacement of air as the lifts went up and down, and was a distraction especially in the evenings as we were trying to sleep.
There is a small mall in the basement of the hotel with restaurants and two convenience stores which was convenient (pardon the pun). There is no laundry service within the hotel and the nearest coin operated laundry service is a good 20 minute walk away.
In summary the hotel did not live up to my expectations. The room size and noise generated by the lifts are considerations which would make me hesitate in choosing this hotel in the future.

Stayed on 11 May to 15 May 2024 in a semi-double room. The room was quite small for 2 pax, price was worth paying in Agoda. Wasn't expecting to be that small but just need to spend the nights after all. To my surprised this hotel is a Eco friendly hotel, which means hskp will only do a full room clean each 3 nights you stay in. But they will come in to just change rubbish, towels, and tooth brushes. Toilet amenties at the reception is FOC. Breakfast at level 25 is International, and level 3 is Japanese breakfast. Price is 2200 yen per pax and it was worth trying both sides. Various foods of choice are delicious. Good views for level 25, btw. Location is walkable from Shinjuku stations and Shinjuku city. Nearby of the hotel there is some street shops and restaurants to look at. Happy with my stay.

Rooms are really small (especially the bathroom) but clean and well equipped with all you can need as a tourist (e.g. USB). There are some shops in the hotel (convenience stores). The breakfast was rich and good quality (both asian and european kitchen available). The panoramic view of Tokio from the cantine windows was additional benefit.
