This is the 3rd Mimaru we've stayed in and all have been uniformly nice. Everything is clean and new. The aesthetics are pleasing and the staff are nice. Funny enough, after looking at the pictures, I felt our room was one of the less functional ones.

We're a family of 4 so we got 2 twins plus a bunk bed. There's also a small dining space and kitchenette. A bit tight. I only wish the top bunk bed wasn't enclosed from the kitchen area, which is something they could have easily done. As it is, any noise from the kitchenette would disturb the person sleeping on the top bunk. In the future, I would also try and book something that encloses the beds as I see that's an option in the pictures. This means that anyone moving around or cooking in the kitchenette would not disturb others. And as we traveled from a different time zone, we all had different waking and sleeping hours.

Location was pretty good. This is in a commercial area but there are still plenty of restaurants and convenience stores around. The subway station entrance is only a few minutes away and once you get underground there's a huge underground mall that takes you all the way to the main Shinjuku area and a short hop to Shibuya. But there will be a lot of walking unless you take a cab.

Stayed here the other week while in Tokyo and it was a great experience. Booked direct and arrived after midnight. The night auditor was able to buzz me in and begin the quizzes before handing over the keys.

The first quiz was a fill-in-the-blank form with my name, previous destination, next destination, check-in date, and check-out date. Since I booked direct, I wasn't quite sure why I had to manually write everything onto the form... The second quiz was done on the property's tablet indicating my name, check-in, check-out, how I will be paying, property rules all in Japanese, along with my digital signature, all done on a jotform... Before being provided my room keys, the night auditor took photos of my passport and credit card?!?

The next morning, I was no longer able to use the elevator. After numerous attempts, a staff member came by to "check" my keycard and informed me that I hadn't paid for my room; thus need to pay first... (When I booked direct, my credit card details were provided. The night auditor also took pictures of my credit card...) Since we were now chatting with the "day staff," I casually inquired on the 2 quizzes prior to check-in, and was informed that the quizzes are correct in order for the property to validate that I was the one that made the booking?!?

There is a coin laundry on the 2nd floor where a wash including detergent is 400 yen for 30 minutes and a dry is 100 yen for 30 minutes. There is a change machine from 1000 bill to 10 100 yen coins inside the laundry room along with a bottle of hand sanitizer spray. There are 10 or so machines in total.

There is a roof top terrace that is accessed from the 14th floor and features nice views of Shinjuku.

The studio apartment was spacious with a separate shower room inside the bathroom along with a separate toilet stall with a bidet. The water pressure was great and the shower room included a bathtub along with a handheld shower. Hot water needed a good 30 seconds or so to start.

The kitchen was perfect with a fridge/freezer, induction cooktop with hood, microwave along with plates and utensils. The dining table included 4 chairs along with a TV that featured Japanese only channels.

There were 4 beds in the studio, including 2 lumpy twin mattresses along with a bunk bed. The reach in closet was huge with plenty of wooden and metal hangers. The desk area was a touch cramped with a sitting stool along with a digital in-room safe. There was a humidifier cum air cleaner in the room as well.

There was a ductless HVAC in the unit that worked well. Wifi was complimentary. Windows opened and featured blackout blinds.

Housekeeping consisted of daily trash removal, bedmaking was done every 3 days and bathroom/kitchens were cleaned every 10 days.

Friendly staff when checking in and out, let us know everything we needed about the hotel.
Large laundry room with a lot of washing machines and driers that are coin operated.
The room we had was huge! We really liked having the kitchen, able to have light meals there while sat at the table on the tatami or the western style table and chairs.
We were on the second floor (first floor if you’re British), we were facing the busy main road and we couldn’t hear the road noise which we were surprised about!
Not a 5 star review as the beds were a little bit too firm for our liking and we could hear the automatic voice in lift. It would be nice if the floor announcements on the lift could be turned off, or be made quieter after 10pm.
The location is great, took us around 10 minutes to walk to Shinjuku station and it was around a half hour walk from Harajuku.

We recently traveled to Japan as a family of four, with two teenage kids, and stayed at the Mimaru hotels in Tokyo (Shinjuku West), Kyoto, and Osaka. We absolutely loved our stay!

The hotels were incredibly well-located, very central to train stations and restaurants, making it easy for us to explore each city. The rooms were perfect for our family, clean, spacious and comfortable with great beds and showers. One of the highlights was having the ability to do laundry right at the hotel, which was a huge convenience for us during our trip.

We used Mimaru hotels throughout our entire vacation, and it was wonderful to have a consistent, high-quality experience in different cities.

We highly recommend Mimaru hotels for any family traveling in Japan. They made our trip even more enjoyable with their excellent locations, comfortable accommodations, and thoughtful amenities.

A fantastic hotel in a great location. It’s located in Shinjuku about a seven minute walk from the main station. Reception is very responsive to emails and were very helpful while we were there, for example finding us a large taxi to go to the airport. We had a deluxe family room for five of us which was amazing. The beds were very comfortable and everybody had a separate bed, which, with three teenage boys, made things a lot easier. It was very clean and had everything you wanted and lots of amenities downstairs if you needed (tea/coffee/iron/toothbrushes/cotton wool etc). Like nearly all Japanese rooms it seems to have slightly limited storage space but we managed. The room was on the 14th floor and had a lovely view. The apartment was pretty spacious and seemed to have everything you needed if you wanted to cook. I would highly recommend staying in this apartment, Hotel and we definitely look out to use them in other Japanese cities.

We stayed here for 9 nights with two children under 2 years old, and it was a fantastic experience! The room was lovely, and had all the amenities you'd need to cater for young children - including baby chair, bed guards, diaper bin. The accommodation was conveniently located close to 7-11 and Family Mart, and also just around the corner to a lovely children's park to keep the little ones busy. Shinjuku station was also a relatively close walk from the hotel.

The staff were also very lovely and helpful, always ready to help out where required. I also want to give a special mention to Haru, who went above and beyond to help us during our entire stay, providing us with recommendations for sights and food in the area - Musashino Mori Diner in Shinjuku Chuo Park was a highlight for us! She was fantastic, and hopefully we get to meet her again in our next trip!

This was the second Mimaru Aparthotel that we stayed at this visit to Japan. The location was walking distance from Shinjuku Station but away from the noise and lights of the centre of Shinjuku. Comfortable beds and cleans rooms. Great shower. Friendly and welcoming staff. We really enjoyed our stay here.

A great apartment hotel for a family of 5 pax. No wonder it is frequented by many Singaporeans. Great location though it is a 15 minute walk from Shinjuku station. Easy to connect to everything everywhere. If you book one year ahead you get really good deals. The only downside was that there was only one bathroom for a family of 5 but we opted for this for the convenience of being close to Shinjuku stations. There are other Mimaru hotels with 2 bathrooms in a less Central location. The lighting in the room is very well done also. Service staff at the counter are really very helpful and all speak English.

It is 10 minutes from the insane part of SHINJUKU station, so it's really wonderful to be close but not besieged with all that hyperstimulation. The walk is easy as it is on a main street, so you can’t get lost. Like the other MIMARUs we stayed at, this was fairly new and wonderfully clean. The lay-out is really nice as all 4 of us had some privacy. It was roomy for a sitting area, dining set, and a small kitchen (well-stocked, although we didn’t use). No view but we were on the second floor. The beds were comfy, and the kids each had a large bunk berth (probably bigger than a capsule hotel, yet had lighting and USB inside). Any family who prizes having a good bed (you are going to need it after all the walking in Tokyo) would have a really good stay.

I’m well travelled in Japan and has stayed in different hotels but never experienced such a comfortability with spacious rooms before. Mimaru Shinjuku has got the most spacious apartments with all the furnitures and amenities. If you want to enjoy a quite time with your partner or family in bustling Shinjuku this is the right place. I enjoyed the night view of lively Shinjuku being in the 11th floor and it was an amazing experience. The kitchen was well equipped where you can prepare a decent meal, bathroom was totally comfy with luxurious bath wear and if you’re taller in height you will never struggle taking a shower like most other hotels in Japan :)
Diverse front staff were welcoming and friendly. Check in and check out was smoothly done and they will give you directions either in Japanese or English without making you confusing :)

If you need to enjoy your stay in a cozy apartment at a affordable price, this is the best hotel.
