Our family of 5 reserved 2 rooms at this hotel for 6 nights. My husband and I got the standard room with a double bed. The room was very small with 1 side of the bed against the wall. My kids (23, 21, 14) got a villa room with 3 single beds that are placed against each other. My kids' room was in the newer renovated area on the 1st floor so their room was nicer than ours. Their room was small as well for 3 people but they have a bathroom with toilet and small sink and another bathroom with sink, shower and tub. Staff was friendly, helpful, and spoke good English. Hotel has self serve laundry facilities in the basement. It also has a restaurant on the 2nd floor. We purchased and tried the breakfast buffet 1 time. Price was reasonable at about $12 USD/person. Food was tasty with western and Japanese choices. The location is the best. Hotel is less than a 5 minute walk from the Mejiro Station on the JR Yamanote Line. From the Yamanote line, you can go to many sightseeing spots without transfer. It's also convenient if you do need to transfer to get to your destination. Neighborhood is quiet with plenty of restaurants, 7-11, Family Marts, drugstores nearby. Our favorite for breakfast is St. Mark's Cafe which is just down the street from the hotel. It has a huge sitting area on the 2nd floor, plenty of room for us to stretch out. We won't even attempt to go to the smaller restaurants in Tokyo because there are 5 of us and we want to be comfortable. There's an excellent sushi restaurant, can't remember the name, but it's in the basement of a building nearby--very local. Overall, the hotel can use a renovation, especially the 3rd floor which is where our room was. The carpet in the elevator is very old and dirty looking. Price for the rooms were high because it was between Christmas and New Year. I would stay here again because of the great location but wish the room was bigger and newer.

Thank you for your staying with us, and for your enthusiastic comments. As you mentioned, our hotel is located in 3 or 4 minutes from nearest station. And the station is in Yamanote line, so everyone can go to main sightseeing spots in Tokyo; Shinjuku, Shibuya and Tokyo directly. In addition, there are many kind of restaurants, convenience stores, drug stores and cafe around our hotel. About the room, thank you for your understanding for the size of room. If you have chance to stay with us again, please consider other type of rooms, because we have some type of double rooms, and twin rooms, which have different facilities and size of room. We are very pleased to hear that you seemed to enjoy our breakfast. As you said we offer both of Western and Japanese style buffet. However, we are so sorry about the elevator. We would like to share your comments with our staff and also house keeping staff to improve situation. Finally we wish you had spent precious New year in Japan, and are all looking forward to seeing you again. Best regards. Reception Konishi Richmond Hotel Tokyo Mejiro

Having stayed before a few years back, we again found the Richmond at Mejiro perfect for our needs. Mejiro feels like a quieter part of Tokyo to stay in which we preferred, particularly after a few hectic days of sightseeing. It's still easily accessible as the hotel is only a couple of minutes walk to the JR Yamanote Line which takes you all over the city. Ikebukuro is only one stop away and has many restaurants, bars and other attractions. The hotel staff were very helpful and the check-in, our stay and the check-out were seamless. The rooms are also spotless and quiet. We stayed for two periods during our time in Japan and found the hotel great value for money. Will definitely return on our next trip!

The services is great, i ask permision to put mu luggage there for 4 days because i have to go to Osaka and come back again to Tokyo, and they allowed it without and charge. Nearby also some covenient store like Natural Lawson and 711.

I chose to return to this hotel five years after my past visit to save some money upon my travel expenses. It is at Mejiro station, which is central and a JR Yamanote loop line stop. This comes in handy for a JR Pass user, because the line brings to almost every major attraction and railway.

There are a few things you must know before making a reservation here : they charge you entirely upon your arrival. If you are not happy with the place and want to cancel, this may become problematic. I wish to leave but I'll have to stay 6 nights in a place I don't recognize as where I stayed 5 years ago.

I first was given a tiny cold room without a window. Their air-conditioning is centralized, so if you are freezing, nothing much can be done.

I asked to be given a room with a window as the one I was given felt oppressive. They charged me 1000 yen extra per night (8.5 dollars approx.) for a window next to a transmitting antenna.

Don't go to Tokyo with the prejudice all rooms are small, dark and cramped. I have been to 5 other hotels with wonderful amenities, and this is the only one I feel tight in (my standards can be capsule hotel, because the price is 3 times lower than this place.)

The service did what I asked them, so I guess that's ok.

The bed is too small for 2 persons (this room was meant for 2 !) and hard.

The area is ok for the eateries and central location, but there is nothing interesting to see.

I'm not looking forward to the 6 next nights.

Booked this hotel as it was cheap and near station. I was expecting the hotel to be regular Japanese hotel but I was surprised!

Just a short 3 mins walk from the station, just turn left and go straight (you won’t get lost). The place is easy to locate.

The hotel exterior looks normal. The room are newly renovated, clean and spacious (as compared to most regular Japanese hotels) I could open 4 luggages.

The room was very well equipped with a flat screen TV, table LED lamp, charging adapter with all kinds of devices, lan cable, ironing board, other basic necessities and even an air purifier! Wowed at the air purifier.

I was surprised when the receptionist provided a bag of ladies amenities that includes a mask, toner, cleanser, moisturizer and even a hair clip. I have never received a full face mask and a hair clip from any hotels before.

The toilet was very spacious compared to other regular Japanese hotels.

There are 4 pillows provided and the sheets smelt like they were freshly ironed.

Overall I’m very happy and satisfied with this hotel as it is above my expectation even though it being very affordable.

I have stayed more than 10 Richmond hotels more than 100 nights all over Japan. This hotel is definetely the worst one in the Richmond Group with service (reception staff and room clean-up), facilities (small and old room, thin walls), and all-night-noisy guests. I complained many points through their "guest feedback" sheet, but there was no responce from the hotel. Much further from "Omotenashi."

We stayed 7 nights in April this year.

Location: just 2 blocks or 2 minutes walk from hotel to Mejiro station. One station away from Ikebukuro. i always wake up and go out late hehe (big help on saving me time).

Staff is very attentive and professional, thank you :)

Room is regular small size room in hotel but fits 2 tall adults heights 5'7"-5'11"

Value for money is ok around $95 per night, definitely not a place if your in a budget there are hotels in tokyo for half this price but the rooms are also tacky, this one of course the room was ok. Had a city view from above. Only down side was the room size but its pretty normal for Tokyo. We had no place to put the luggage so we placed it on the window it had a ledge which was pretty cool.

Vending machine located at the lobby. There are good restaurants on the street, i enjoyed grilled food on a second floor, the macha parfait was delicious! i forgot the name but you can see their plastics displays on the streets on the way to the station.
Konbini or Convenient store is near and they have nice food and desserts. Bakery and Vending machines as well as a gift pocket ball machine at Mejiro station. By the way my hair is long and very thick and it was not ok with the shampoo provided by the hotel, there is a near by place with lots of hair products and i got some from them.

Would recommend this place if you agree with the room photos and your ok with the price, specially if you do not want to take a long walk to the station, since its very near, and if you love ikebukuro, shibuya, harajuku, and Shinjuku they are all near. its a bit far from Akihabara, Ueno, and Asakusa, if you wanted to stay closer to these. For me it was not a problem though.

Thank you for your hospitality Richmond Hotel Tokyo Mejiro

Hope this has helped anyone. Hit Like if it was helpful :3

I stayed one night at Richmond. Reserved a room without window. The room had a window (perhaps I was upgraded), although it was just the wall of another building when I opened it. A typical small room with no frills, just as I expected. There was a free bottle of water. A bit smelly in the corridor: however, there was no smell in the room. TV was okay. Wifi was fast. The room had a water pot and a fridge. Location is convenient: very close to Mejiro station. For the quality, I think the room is slightly expensive.

I stayed here for 5 nights. The hotel is a short walk from the Yamanote line. A supermarket and a few restaurants are nearby. You can walk to Ikebukuro if you want more lights and action. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. The room had a good bed, TV, Fridge, Bath, shower and good amenities replenished daily. Good tea and coffee as well. After a quick check in everything went very smoothly. I will stay here again and the chain is good as I stayed at the Richmond in Narita and it was also good. Good value for your yen.

Thank you for your inquiry. There is a shuttle bus running from Hotel Metropolitan Tokyo to Haneda Airport. Hotel Metropolitan Tokyo is connected directly to Ikebukuro station, which is only one station away from Mejiro. It costs about 1200yen/adult. Please don't hesitate to stop by the front desk for more information. Richmond Hotel Tokyo Mejiro Front desk
