Pros:
1. Nice balcony, it was totally fitting to my demand. My friends and I grabbed a glass of wine and have a lot of conversation out of room and sniff the alley of Taipei.
2. Bathtub was quite deep and it can easily soak whole body. I bring my lovely Japanese hot spring power. I can easily create my own "Onsen."
3. The bed was comfortable as well, nice sleep after drink.
4. The decoration was quite elegant, I really love the wardrobe combined with cabinet coffee machine.
5. Free of Charge for all mini bar, beverages and snacks
6. Speaker can connect with iPhone by Bluetooth, enjoy the music sounds around the room space.
7.Happy Hour provides quality wine and any kinds of beverages.
Cons:
1. As the layout designed, bathtub is close to was basin. Water was easily splash out of bathtub, the floor might be wet all the time. It was easily created by safety issue due to wet floor.
2. TV is not good to use by remote control.
3. As the design hotel is not directly manged by Marriott, even the Marriott platinum status whose customers cannot have happy hour, ONLY Titanium status.
4. As COVID-19, the breakfast was not provided. The hotel even provided no alternative plan for loyalty customers.
In conclusion, all of that is above the hotel quality, I definitely will go back with Proverbs Taipei soon.
From the stonework, wood flooring and cabinetry (and even a bedside chandelier), to whimsical touches throughout the common areas, we were truly impressed.
The food, experienced in the restaurant as well as in room service, was also quite a few notches above what one might find in other five-star hotels, and it we look forward to visiting here again in the future.
A special call-out Spud Chang, the guest relations supervisor, who knew us by name after meeting us and showing us extra courtesy.
A truly remarkable experience.
Since this was a friend’s birthday, the hotel staff also prepared small cards and surprises, which really made me feel touched and happy.
Bad - staff training needs improvement
1. Asked for a late checkout but was refused. After asking a second time I was informed that it would not be possible due to full capacity.
When my friend who was checking in next to me got a 2pm late check out I asked why I couldn’t get the same late check out (I was a higher tier platinum bonvoy member but I did not mention this). I was eventually given the late check out but it left a bad taste.
As a bonvoy member we should be given priority over other guests but instead we were treated with a lame duck explanation for why we could not get a late check out and they were a “designer hotel” not a Marriott hotel. The main reason we book Bonvoy is so that we can get member benefits. I understand that as a boutique hotel with limited capacity there are less options but you should not be giving out benefits based on the whim of the check in clerk. This just tells me that they do not care about their loyalty members and have signed up to bonvoy just to increase their bookings.
Instead of apologizing for the mistake, check in just reminded us that I had to check out on time. Not good customer service
2. Staff are generally not helpful. The hotel has no facilities and not suitable for business travel but helpful staff can go a long way. When I had to take a 10am zoom meeting I did not want to wake up my wife because she was sleeping in the room. There is a 3F lounge that you can use but it smells like washing detergent and there are no convenient power outlets for laptops. Instead of offering me with an extension chord or letting me use the restaurant downstairs and order a coffee, every staff member I spoke to just said sorry can’t help and I had find a cafe outside (and be late for my meeting)
For similar price there are much better options in Taipei
As a formerly endangered species I was very impressed with the small nod to the environment and the complimentary bag to take away the soap.
The staff were friendly and welcoming and friendly. A fantastic location from which to explore the city, or just enjoy your fabulous room.
The breakfast was also great, with pre-meal bread and lettuce salad. We chose fried salmon and French toast, which was exquisitely cooked and we loved it very much. The coffee is also great.
Service by the staff was excellent. They had our room ready early, held our luggage in the lobby, and even little things like holding the door or lending us umbrellas during rainy days was very nice!
Lunch at their restaurant L’idiot was excellent as well. The roast chicken, steak, and bolognese pasta was delicious!
What stood out to me were the hospitality shown. The front desk team went above and beyond to make our stay a special one by recommending us some local places to eat, arranging for a quick check in as my wife flew in separately while I was in a meeting and even helping me with a an order i had difficulty with with a local vendor.
The location of the hotel was also splendid, right in the middle of the city next to an MRT station not too far away by walking distance and convenience stores located just opposite the hotel. We also find nice beautiful shops with delicious food surrounding the hotel and that made it very interesting and exciting for us to explore the local neighbourhood.
All in all, it's quite a unique experience, different from the other Marriott properties but you can always count on great hospitality to be shown.
The room smells great when you come in. There is no mixed smell or pungent smell of disinfectant. There is a large wooden desk and a comfortable 3-seater sofa, which looks like a small mansion.
The bathroom space is also very spacious, and the toiletries are of good quality. As someone who often stays in hotels, I feel the texture and connotation. Thank you for the carefully prepared welcome card and free snacks. I feel everything. Thank you.
"The best thing we did was purchase the airport and 72 hour metro pass upon arrival. Pass doesn’t work for buses- only metro!"Read full review
