The resort and scuba diving is nice. The staff is friendly and professional, dive sites are nice (I dived on 4 locations on the opposite side of the bay). When I was diving it was only our boat on location, therefore the sites were not crowded which adds to the value of experience. They divide the group in subgroups, so it's approx 4 people per one dive master and not everyone goes in at the same time, so you have a lot of space to explore.

As far as the whaleshark watching goes.... just don't go. It is a bad experience. There was 16 of us on the boat and when the spotters saw a whaleshark they brought us to the spot, all 16 ppl jumped in the water and swam towards the whaleshark (it was madness, felt almost like fighting with the other snorkellers) and for 10 seconds you can see the whaleshark. Then they put you back on the boat and repeat the process. We saw 1,5 whaleshark. Yes 1,5. One was for 10 seconds max and the 0,5 was because we only briefly saw the tail. After 1 hour the spotters don't feel like working anymore so the boat drives up and down the bay, till the 3 hour slot is done (boats are only allowed to be there for 3 hours) and you go back to resort. Honestly, it is a borderline scam. They could improve the whole tour and it took me about 2h to figure it out how, but I guess easy money is a better option for them and the locals. Some people were totaly overwhelmed by the "experience", but in my opinion, their standards are just really low.

Go to Peter's dive resort and do scuba dives. You will love it. It is a quiet place in the south Leyte, the gear they use is good and it is a nice place in general. But skip the whaleshark tour and instead use that money for some extra scuba dives.

We stayed in the new building for 2 weeks and enjoyed the patio, screen door, TV, Refrigerator, Wi-Fi and A/C. The rooms were cleaned daily. The swimming pool and patio is clean and quite nice. The downside is the rooms are close to the neighbors and you can hear the dogs barking all night long and roosters in the early morning hours that are close by.

The diving and dive guides were very good, the dive boats are poorly laid out and often very crowded with 16+ divers. Twice in a week the large dive boat broke down and plans changed. They offer a whale shark trip multiple times a week during the season.

The biggest disappointment was the food from the restaurant often serving packaged or frozen foods and a few items on the menu not available for several days. No desserts and no daily or weekly meal specials. Many room choices to choose from. With a little work this could be a 5 star resort.

We are a family of 4 and spent 10 wonderful days at Perter’s dive resort in Padre Burgos.
For whoever is looking for Whale Shark snorkeling in natural habitat (no feeding of the sharks!) - it’s an amazing experience you will never forget!
Diving in the area is also highly recommended! We’ve done altogether around 20 dives all beautiful and fun, including night dives, an adventure dive (for our almost 12 years old with a PADI Junior) and a Bubble Maker (for our 8 years old). The staff - diving instructor, dive masters and ship crew are all professional and friendly.
The resort is lovely and comfortable and the house restaurant and staff are great.
We continuously extended our stay which I assume says it all :-)

We stayed at Pater's for the 4th time, and enjoyed tremendously both their old and new accommodation. Diving was again superb in the bay - definitely best boat dives in the Philippines. Our son, 12, took his PADI Open water course with Dino and loved it so much that he followed straight on with the Advanced course. Instruction was absolutely perfect and the combination of wonderful dive sites, a high quality diving pool and an amazing instructor meant that the learning was fun but thorough. The beachfront bungalows are great for a budget conscious traveller and the new apartments are simply luxury by the ocean side at reasonable prices. We look forward to going back! Thank you Peter's Dive Resort!

An outstanding base for few days of scuba diving and whale shark watching.
Everything about this place was absolutely brilliant.

Accommodation : we were able to chose from a variety of accommodation types . The condo was a very good size, very clean, high quality aircon.

The restaurant : offered a good selection of meals suitable for vegetarians ( and vegans ).

The booking and communication : extremely timely, clear, precise and helpful communication . Helped to book diving, whale shark watching, transfers to the port and the airport , organise laundry washing with a local laundry place.

Payment methods : unlike many places in the Philippines, there was an option to pay with cash and card at the resort.

The scuba diving : excellent dive masters with a strong knowledge of marine wildlife. Beautiful diving locations + option to do a shore dive just outside of the resort, including a night dive. A large selection of high quality scuba diving equipment .

Whale sharks watching : if you are looking for an ethical way to see the whale sharks in the Philippines - this is the place for it. There is no shark feeding or bating. They are working with local fishermen who go out on kayaks and look out for the whale shark. Once they spot one, there is a signal to enter the water and swim with them, keeping in mind the safe distance between the swimmer and thew shark.

I am hoping to be able to return to Peter's dive resort one day soon. An absolute highlight of my Philippines trip!

Wanted to go diving. Called they said it was possible. Arrived and lady at front desk said no diving. So hang out relax. We were told nothing about the place by front desk staff. The one person there that we found with it was the cook, waitress, and maid she told us there was gym on forth floor. So next day climb the stairs and there was little gym and a Nice pool table. We were going to leave the next day so never even shot pool. Well to make maters worse the Dive guy was working on the cable TV that never really worked the whole time we were there. He dropped by and started chatting and he would have taken us Diving all along!! He would have taken me diving right then but I had drank bit too much the night before and not in the mood. The food was very OK. There is no bartender the cook waitress maid has that job also. If you have favorite drink best to know how it is made before you go here. Loved the pool deep with cool water. Bed was fine. The shower was Great for Philippines. Dino the Dive guy is very friendly seems totally with it and it was not his fault We did not go diving. Dino is not there full time as there are no guest most the time.

We went to Peter‘s Diving with 2 families for scuba diving, swimming with whales and open water courses for our 4 kids.

Everything was done great! Well organized and fully trustworthy!

Weather was uncharacteristically rainy and cold but also this was managed well.

This is NOT a fancy resort, but for people who come here fire the diving and whale experience. It is a bit of a trip and out of the way, but very much worth it.

Thank you to all the staff, it was very special! We will be back!

We booked the Eco Whale Shark Tour.

ALL WITHOUT FEEDING.

The contact with the diving school was very good. The service and introduction were also very pleasant.

It is not just special to see the whale sharks, but also how the whale sharks are found. They work with many local people.

We were allowed to spend 3.5 hours in this area where the whale sharks are believed to be. And with a little luck we were also able to dive with these beautiful sharks.

The whole trip was not cheap in comparison but was worth every peso.

You have to remember that it is a day tour and they are not fed.

This place is still an insider tip where you can marvel at the whale sharks in the wild.

Only one diving school is allowed to be at this place per day. Therefore, ask the diving schools in advance if they have the slot.

I wish all other whale shark enthusiasts lots of fun with the experience

The dive crew are fantastic, incredibly helpful, kind and fun. I really enjoyed my dives and the crew went out of their way to organise a macro dive for me and my husband. They are amazing guides and sort out any kit issues and prepare your kit for every dive. I feel very spoilt! Beautiful dive sites, even following the damage from the typhoon. Our room was clean and comfortable, all the housekeeping and restaurant staff were lovely and friendly. I really recommend staying and diving here if you love the ocean!
