We took the kids to Sun Moon Lake for Christmas weekend and stayed at The Wen Wan Resort. Let's start with the positives. The resort is in a great location. It's within walking distance to the pier where you can the boat across the lake. There are plenty of local shops to eat, snack, and rent bikes. The 11th sky patio offers a great view of the lake. The hotel is clean, the staff very friendly, and the rooms are nice and neat. The Average. The food at the hotel wasn't bad, but for a five star hotel the selection was pretty average. As a vegetarian the selections were even fewer. What made it worse was the breakfast spread was virtually the same selections. Another small compalint is how dark the room was. There just didn't seem to be enough lights. Plus, the lights where the toilet was may have been broken because it was super dark in that room. All in all, the kids had fun in the hotel and enjoyed the spa in the room. The service was good and everyone was very courteous and professional. The fact that this was a 5 star hotel raised our expectations, and unfortunately, some areas did not meet the expectations. …

這次和家人來渡假，住的房型是行館套房，房間的空間很大，住起來很舒適。 而且從房間內就可以看到日月潭，不管是泡澡、在沙發上、在陽台都可以看到日月潭美景，真的是非常享受！ 因為我們有帶嬰兒來，所以日月行館也幫我們準備了嬰兒床消毒鍋澡盆，覺得棒😆 The top hotel in Sun moon lake area. My experience was Family trip to the hotel with a new born baby. Stayed at executive room (行館套房）, which was nicely decorated with a beautiful view of sun moon lake. Infinity pool is also a great place to chill at. The dinner was an average Chinese diner dining and the breakfast was buffet style which was above average. Due to Covid-19,the hotel has shorten the opening hour of pool and the air conditioning was not working at observatory. But to be fair, there were not much of tourists and we enjoyed emptiness of the hotel.

We were very excited to be staying at this hotel during a our visit to Sun Moon Lake after reading the reviews on this site. However, we were disappointed with what little service we received and the room, although luxurious (and we had a lovely view of the lake) needed some repairs to some of fixtures. The pool area is nice and offers a spectacular view of the lake. If you want the wow factor of the location, the rooms and view then this is the place for you. However, for the price we paid we expected the service to be part of that wow factor. 🤷🏻♀️

It has been long time we did stay overnight in Sun Moon Lake. We choose The Wen Wan Resort for our family vacation because the quality of the service. The view was fantastic. There path around the hotel are enjoyable after dinner and in the day time.

We stayed here two nights during the week. When we checked in, we were greeted by Steven, who gave us a tour of the lobby and grounds, and explained the historical significance of this site. The view from the room is amazing, and there is hot spring water piped directly to a large tub. It's a short 5 minute walk down the hill to the town and boat pier, but there is also a shuttle bus if you don't feel like walking. They gave us drink coupons for the bar, and when they heard it was my birthday they brought a nice small cake to my room. The master switch that other reviewers grumble about - if that is the kind of thing that bothers you, then better you stay at the $400/night hotel next door.

An absolute highlight in this Taiwan tour! The location of Wen Wan Resort is fabulous with bird views of the Sun Moon Lake. The in-room hot spring tub is wonderful when you unwind with such breathtaking views. The service is authentic and friendly. All in all a must visit when you are in Taiwan!

The only two things I liked about the hotel were the view and the hot springs in the room. The rest I would not say it was category 5 hotel. The decor in the room was quite outdated. Like one viewer mentioned, the main switch controlled all the power in the room including the washlet toilet and night nights. This making sleeping in a darker room impossible. We also noticed some of the drawers were not very clean. The breakfast buffet was free but was mediocre. The staff was OK. We had the feeling they were there just to get the minimum done to get by. With everything we experienced, this hotel was over priced.

This is a great place to stay. The view that looks out to the lake is spectacular, and you get to enjoy all this from the comfort of your own private bathtub. The hotel is everything you can expect of this price range, infinity pool on the top floor, lake facing balcony, and even extra HDMI cables on request that let you connect your laptop to the TV (this means Netflix on the TV when it's pouring rain out!). The staff is friendly, attentive and helpful. The breakfast buffet is pretty good quality, it's open from 7 until 11am, and you can come and go as many times as you want. (It's worth the extra few euros to get the breakfast package) All in all, this is a great place to stay and we can definitely recommend!
