Room is very spacious and clean. Room for 4 people comes with 2 king beds and a balcony. Bathroom is huge with a bathtub. Staff are helpful. Breakfast is very basic but adequate. Possible improvements include providing bigger dustbins (the ones provided are so small that they overflow in no time) and more hangers / hooks for jackets / clothes. Overall, highly recommended.
The hotel has a convenient location which grants proximate access to bus station to taichung, the pier as well as the longest biking trail in the area. The room is surprisingly clean, beautiful and HUUGE. The view is good, though might have limited access to the larger part if the Sun Moon Lake. NOTE: Elevator is closed at 10pm. Shoes has to be put OUTSIDE the room. But all these doesnt make it an unpleasant accomodation choice. Its a great hotel which is definitely worth the money and time spent.
For the price we paid, the room was amazing! Super big room with big and clean bathroom. Staff were helpful and really courteous. There's also a shoe rack outside your room. The hotel is located near several bicycle rental shops. The first one on the hotel's left hand side can even open at 4am (upon request) if you'd like to catch the sunrise. Super nice boss, Mr. 王, can't remember his shop's name.
Stayed for a night on trip to Sun Moon Lake. The hotel location is great, literally right behind the visitor center and bus terminal for those coming in from Taipei City or the airport and also near the Shushe pier. Breakfast was also quite decent, with a good selection for the price of the room. Lots of boutique shops and restaurants in the vicinity though walking back alone at night through the empty street and parking lot can be a bit scary for solo female travelers. The rooms can use a bit of renovation though, lots of wear and tear on the walls and wood floors. It would also be useful to have a shower curtain or divider installed in the shower area of the bathroom.
We loved the room. Hardwood floor and very spacious. Breakfast was very basic. Although it is not far from where the bus drops us off, it is a bit tricky to locate the hotel. Next to the hotel, there are many places where they rent bicycles ( $200 for the whole day). Also, do not forget to buy the ticket for the boat ride from the hotel. It is a lot cheaper than the regular price.
We stayed here for two nights in April 2017. We booker the 4 person room for two with the two big queen beds so we had an indulgent stay. The beds were amazing with fresh cotton linen and were a treat after 5 nights in a narrow single in Taipei. We wished we had booked a more flexible option but as we didn't pay extra for the ability to cancel we had to go with a poor weather forecast. The weather was terrible. Dark foggy misty and it rained for two days. We did manage to hire some bikes next door for £2 an hour but had to return them early as it was hard to see through the rain. We realised on reflection that it's more rainy there than the rest of Taiwan and we should have considered this. Apart from this we enjoyed relaxing there. The staff were helpful we knew there was only two sockets in the room so we're organised with our charging. Breakfast was ok. Some fruit or yoghurt for westerners would have been nice but it was simple and nicely presented with some unusual Japanese kitchen gadgets for making toast not seen before. They don't speak very good English but to be fair we don't speak any Taiwanese but to give the modern generation their credit the young staff on reception googled my request for a new kettle - and a new one appeared - with a laugh - what lovely staff - how clever was that! The air con and wifi worked really well. What was quirky was the 1960's records they played all the time in reception. If you - like me - were brought up on a diet of pop records from that era - Bobby Vee, Del Shannon you'll love it. It made me smile and you'll really enjoy your stay. Just check the forecast before you go! …
I walked from the shuishe bus station around 5 mins. I couldn't see the sun moon lake view from this hotel but it's alright. The family room is quite big. The breakfast is salad boil rice bread and coffee
Our worst B&B experience in Taiwan, by far. Do not trust the paint-shop pro pictures on their website. The rooms are old, smelly and the "side lake view" is a scam. The staff is clearly unprofessional, the owner is agressive and has attitude. The breakfast is a joke. I do not advise this place to anyone or anything, even dogs.
I don't understand the highly negative reviews of this place. Of course it is a little expensive - it's in a popular resort area, so higher room cost goes without saying. That said, I thought the price was very fair for the location, room, and hotel overall. We enjoyed our 2 nights here. The location is great. Right next to the bike path, on the pier. Just a few minutes walk from the town area, but far enough away that you don't deal with noise. The room was fine, nothing special but no concerns either. Large space, clean bathroom. Staff was friendly and helpful, though with their minimal English I was grateful for traveling with a Taiwanese friend. I don't understand the concerns with the elevator being turned off 10pm-7am. It made things quieter, and it's not exactly a big deal to walk down 1 or 2 flights. Negatives: There was only 1 electrical outlet in the entire room, so if you are electronics oriented, beware. If you don't like an asian-style breakfast, your options are limited. We were looking for a reasonably priced, clean and quiet place with easy access to Sun Moon Lake, and this place fit the bill perfectly. I would return.…
Sun moon lake: a (too) populair destination in Taiwan, in front of the B&B a hunderd busses with tourists from Taipei. The lake is dry, not a mm water. Inhabitants of Nantou throw their baskets full of garbage in this so called 'lake' which is in reality the dump of the town. The breakfast in the Karuizawa Villa is not worth the name: there was a funny 'buffet' and you can get 1 sandwich (see photo buffet). Lakeview? Only from the bathroom...
