Dear Casey L,

Located in Tainan’s Central West District, the hotel is an international five-star business and leisure hotel under the FIH Regent Group. Shinkong Mitsukoshi Department Store and Shinkong’s Small Ximen Shopping …MoreDistrict are situated nearby, while downtown historic sites are within walking distance, boasting the rich historic collections, diverse cultural perspectives and comprehensive business functions. The hotel is a 30-minute car ride away from the Tainan High Speed Rail Station and the Tainan Science Park; its convenient transportation access offers the environment and function for both business and leisurely vacations. As Taiwan’s first city, Tainan’s urban development was heavily influenced by the historical artifacts and culture, which evolved with the city over time. Imagine the literary atmosphere that traversed the streets a century ago, where poems were ceaselessly recited over days and nights. Our hotel employed such Confucian philosophical imageries as a part of the design concept, believing in the idea of being “modern yet everlasting.” The interior design showcases the blend of the East and West along with thoughtful fusion of the classic and modern sensibilities. Utilizing the Minnan style architectural elements to decorate the space, along with a collection of old books in the reading room; meanwhile, the drum artifacts aligned on the two sides of the lobby echos the respect towards the ceremonial music’s heritage from over hundreds and thousands of years ago. As one enters the hotel, thoughtful details abound, expressing the warm yet understated attitude of the creative art and culture that are hidden within. The hotel building houses 256 guest rooms, a 6-meter high ceiling multi-functional banquet room, which can host wedding banquets for a hundred tables with pillarless space as well as several multi-functional meeting space. Extending the Group’s Food & Beverage advantages, the hotel boasts restaurants with exquisite Chinese and Western cuisine, using large amounts of local food ingredients, to satisfy your desire for a local, gourmet and visually stunning dining experience. On the fourth floor, the leisure facilities include outdoor swimming pool with skyview, gym and an interactive playroom for children designed to create a perfect and impeccable business and vacation environment. Adhering to the brand philosophy of prospering and growing with the local area, the hotel brings in the gentle and humble historical ambience and the ancient academy culture to the traveler’s living space. Using “recreating the literary culture, passing down the creative arts” as its mission, the hotel inherits Tainan’s pride and spirit as the former academic capital. It also demonstrates its gratitude towards the bygone era, in the hope to jointly cultivate the culture in this new era, offering travelers a bountiful and satisfying hotel stay experience! Less

West Central District/ North District
The West Central District is the most populous and the busiest area. A lot of shops and hotels crowd the district, and the long-standing history results in a variety of street food. In addition to that, this district also has the highest number of temples. This is how it got the name “Tainan’s Pantheon.” Historic buildings are literally ubiquitous. For example, Hayashi Department Store, National Museum of Taiwan
Literature, Confucius Temple, Chihkan Tower (formerly Fort Provintia), Sacrificial Rites Martial Temple, Tainan Grand Mazu (name of a goddess) Temple, etc. Recently, the tourism in Tainan has laid emphasis on alleys and lanes. Examples include Fujhong Street specialising in creative handicrafts, as-you-stroll desserts on Jhengsing Street, Shennong Street lined with hundred-year-old ancient houses, Sinyi Street on which the old city gate stands, Sinmei Street where old and new cultures fuse together, and Guohua Street and Baoan Raod famous for all the savoury food. All the traditional and delicious food and flavours are about to burst in your mouth. The North District, on the other hand, is a quiet secret hideaway. Lane 321 on Gongyuan Road used to be a Japanese soldiers’ dormitory. Now a few artists have set up their studios here. There are diversified art styles in each old Japanese-style house. The Garden Night Market on Haian Road is one of the famous night markets in both Tainan and Taiwan, and was the top 12 Facebook check-in location worldwide in 2013.
