This is the focal point for the hi-tech industry in Tainan. Also known as the Silicon Valley in Tainan, Sinshih District has one of the four societies established by the plains aborigines, the Siraya people. The science park in the area encompasses several green buildings that coexist with the environment. The steel-made public artwork, Yellow Ribbon, stretching over Yingsi Lake is the most
symbolic icon of the park. The other Tree Valley Park, which specialises in archaeology, ecology, and science, is a must-visit site as well. Visiting here gives people an extraordinary experience as if visitors make a visit back to the ancient time from the advanced modern world. Nearby Shanhua is famous for its cattle fair first organised in the 19th century focusing on cattle sale. The fair now sells daily necessities, and is the most representative of the ordinary layman’s life in Tainan. The fair takes place on days with a 2, 5 and 8, i.e 2nd, 12th and 22nd, etc. each month, starting from dawn to noon. As for the neighbouring Anding District, it still preserves its rustic charm and scenery. The Jhenhu Temple in Sucuo of the region is the local people’s religious centre, and still follows the tradition of burning the king boat. The glow of the setting sun in Zengwun along with the bridge, sunset, flying birds, and the river water has become an iconic scenery in the region.
