We stayed for one night and it wasn't enough. The hotel was very well maintained. It's located right on the beach. It wasn't too far from other beaches that it made it a good central location. They have gated parking onsite. The staff was very kind and helpful. They answered all of our tourist questions:) We ate at both restaurants and the food was delicious. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. It was very affordable. We highly recommend staying here.

The pictures and descriptions on their website really under sell the value and beauty of this hotel. Staff is incredibly attentive, food is super delicious (best Italian food outside of Italy!), the views are great. The town is pretty much catered to tourists and is owned/operated by expats so it's not the real Costa Rica but for our first family travel with an 11month old this was the perfect speed for us. The concierge took care of all our needs, we easily accessed a grocery store, tours, etc.

Nice beach and pool, lots of places and other beaches to visit by car. Excelent for families or couples, friendly service. Prices are average for the zone. Good restaurants all over town, although kind of expensive

You need black out drapes on the windows. The chef was very acomodating. We brought fish back from Lake Arinal and he prepared them beautifully for us. Your happy hour is very good and the food served is very good.

We just spent an entire week in paradise, at Hotel Bahia del Sol. The property is stunning and the staff are so attentive, we will definitely return next year. The resort is centrally located to so many activities to do. You can walk or taxi to Flamingo Beach to see the white sand beach, Bahia’s beach is black sand. The market is a block away, which has most everything you might need.

Positively dreadful. We stayed in the best room in the hotel but it didn't matter. Indifferent staff (we were never asked if we enjoyed our stay or might we ever return. Diego at the front desk could not have been more aloof and dismissive. We were never asked for any help with luggage when arriving or departing. With few exceptions the staff simply act like they are doing you a favor even to be there.). The facilities need a major upgrade (hot tubs are not heated, our back slider door would not lock, a sump pump outside our door that went off every few minutes sounded like a howler monkey sounding off, plastic cushion less chairs in our room to sit on). Unkept grounds (check out the picture of an old shredded soccer ball we removed from the scrubbery on our first day that stayed right outside our door for three days while not a single member of the staff bothered to remove it during our stay). Silly hotel rules (we were given two laminated towel tokens upon arrival for beach towels and they state if the tokens are lost we would be charged $20 for each one - can't imagine what the charge would be if we lost the towels). I could go about the drug dealers on the beach, the filthy cushions on the lounge chairs overlooking the beach, how the room prices went down from our initial booking but not a word was said to us but you get the idea. We travel two to three times a year and this property is the worst we have ever encountered. It's sad really.

Please do yourself a favor if you book this hotel book through any other possible company - DO NOT book directly through the hotel. Yes, they have a 100% refund policy if cancelled within a specific period of time. What they do not tell you is that despite advising you that you are entitled to a refund of the total amount and that it will take “about 3 weeks” you will never get it. What you will get is the runaround, excuses, then completely ignored when calling or WhatsApping requesting status of money that they have no right to keep. What they can do is take your full amount deposit within days of booking but what they cannot do is refund you when you cancel within hotel policies. Please look at the negative reviews here and you will see this is not an isolated incident. Wish I had done that before booking. Lesson learned. Finally had to open a dispute with my credit card company to get what was rightfully mine.

We stayed 5 nights and had the best time. The staff was amazing and views spectacular. This is Costa Rica so there is wildlife and sometimes they may make noise on the walls from outside. That is part of going to such a beautiful place like Costa Rica. This was our first time and we will definitely be back to Costa Rica and to Bahia Del Sol. The included breakfast was wonderful and be sure to ask for what the dinner specials are each evening. Playa Famingo is a nice but far walk and has a lot to offer. Las Catalinas is a short ride and well worth the trip. If this is your first time it is a great place to stay to get to know what it is like getting around in Costa Rica and feel safe doing it.
