Cure your jet lag and relax in this rustic, tranquil oasis that is practically your own. Bungalows with beach/ocean views from your terrace, friendly staff (Jem and Sandra!) and great food for being on a remote island. The bungalow rooms are sparsely decorated with a solar powered fan, the island has cold water only and runs on a generator, so charging mobile devices and using WiFi can only happen at certain times of the day, so this is not your place if that is a deal breaker BUT, when can you say you practically had an island to yourself? Put your phone down, strike up a conversation with the guests at the next table and enjoy the moment!

Everything we ate was surprisingly delicious (pork medallions w/ curry, pineapple and rice; sweet and sour Chix; Chix w/ mushroom cream sauce and rosti potatoes; breakfast and lunches were great too).

There are several hammocks and beach chairs, but never more than 10 people on the beach. A dart board, ping pong table, board games, kayaks (for rent) and several quaint sitting areas around the beautifully lush grounds. There’s also a hiking trail that leads you up and around the resort into the jungle.

The bungalows have mosquito nets around the beds, but we never saw one mosquito during our entire stay (and never put on bug spray either, I’d rather not spray poison on my body unnecessarily).

All in all this was a very memorable and special place for those seeking something a little off the grid.

This is an idyllic spot to spend a few days at a very cost-effective price. The owner, Henri,is very eccentric but at heart means well. He is supported by an EXCELLENT team- especially Cherry. We enjoyed superbly cooked fish dinners here and a wonderful boat trip island hopping. It’s a place to chill and simply be. They have Wifi for 2 hours a day, no hot water for showers but it was never a problem in truth as it’s so hot anyway.
Thank you to all of you.

We stayed here for 2 nights and absolutely loved the place. Beautiful Island with a really nice beach just outside the resort. Relaxing and just perfect. The rooms where really clean and you wake up to the sound of waves and singing birds.

I really recommend doing Island hopping through the resort with a private boat - fantastic experience!

We had a wonderful 3 days on this remote and un-touristed island. The owner, Henry, is a real character who will regale you with wide and varied stories whilst the manageress, Cherry, and her staff, Joribeth and Jennlyn do an excellent job in the kitchen. We always chose the catch of the day which varied depending on what had recently been caught. It was always fresh and delicious. In addition, the boatman, Nonoy, took us island hopping where we visited Starfish island (an isolated sandbar where you can see live starfish), snorkelled over 2 colourful reefs, stopped at 2 desert islands (think Robinson Crusoe) and had a final snorkel in a bay known for turtles. We came across a turtle in minutes and followed its journey into the deep. It was breathtaking.
The owner, Henry, is very fortunate to have such great staff. Thank you, Henry, and all the team at Coconut Garden Beach Resort. We hope you all stick together to maintain this cost-effective private island experience. We would love to come back!

As noted in other reviews, it is a bit of rustic living. There is no AC or wifi available. We also did not have any electricity in our and had to charge our phones at the restaurant. That being said, I am so happy we came here. The grounds are absolutely stunning. It's crazy that there is only this one resort on the island. There is nothing else there. We enjoyed lounging in the hammocks, walking around the grounds and hanging out in the restaurant bar. The staff were so kind and the food was yummy. We found it a little difficult to sleep with only a fan and no AC but it was worth being on this beautiful place. I wouldn't recommend staying more than 2 nights as there is only relaxing to do there. Everything was also super affordable there. :)

Friendly owners & staff, delicious food at very reasonable price, comfortable accommodation, restaurant with sea view, good snorkeling and cold beer. What else do you need?
We stayed here twice but over 20 years ago so it was great to return and see the well landscaped resort again. Sandy beach and clear water. Easy to contact the resort and arrange boat pick up from Port Barton. We really enjoyed our stay in this delightful, relaxing place.

We stayed in the resort in Jun 2014 and were looking for a peaceful getaway for couple of days. The environment is beautiful and the little cottage was small, but clean. There is no reception or Internet on the island but we were fine with it. Snorkelling wasn't much, but still ok. Electricity only at certain hours - still ok. If this was paired with a simple food and normal service, we would have been happy customers. But unfortunately, the service and the food was quite poor. The staff seemed like it's all under 18, communication with them was terrible. At times we felt like we are bothering them, and most of the time they weren't doing much for the whole day aside of watching TV in the guest lounge. We felt like intruders there. Sometimes the Tv was so loud we could hear it even from the beach. Listening to flicking Philiphino TV while watching the sunrise over the island that you spent hours getting to to escape the civilisation - isn't much. Any questions about possible trips or anything aside the menu was answered by I don't know". A food we were told costs 140 was in the end of our stay charged as 200. When we requested the correction, the waitress disappeared saying that she has to check it. Later her colleague came back with an adjusted bill trying to charge us again 200 and not being aware of our conversation with the first waitress, Also the room, or even rubbish bin outside of the hut wasn't cleaned every day and kept attracting insects.
The food wasn't very good either and it was expensive. - instant soups presented as home made and the same goes for sauces. The menu was quite long but didn't include any fresh fish or seafood, which would have been quite expected hence on an isolated island. In the dining room, there was instant coffee and tee for the guests to make themselves, but this was charged at normal restaurant prices (They must somehow count the teabags missing). Also, there was no drinking water available on the island, so we had to buy it every day from restaurant at expensive prices. So overall, you are left on the island in the mercy of the prices and quality that the stuff decides to serve you with.
Overall, the resort is beautiful, so it may look like a budget option compared to some other island resorts, but it won't be as they will charge you for every sip of water. And the unhelpful and not competent staff won't make your stay any more pleasant.

We had a booking for few nights in this resort. When we arrived, a smiling lady welcomed us to Coconut Garden and told us that unfortunately they didn't have the room we booked. Some guest had decided to stay one more night and they couldn't say no to guest so they thought we could sleep one night in a tent. The next morning there would be a room for us - giving that the guest didn't decide to stay for one additional night. The owner from our previous resort, Secret Paradise Retreat, took us to the resort and was just as surprised because his resort manager had confirmed to Coconut on the very same morning that we were coming. It was Valentine's Day and the staff from Coconut had no idea how to solve "the problem". Resort owner from Secret Paradise gave instructions to staff to organize us a new accommodation and at least provide a cool drink.

Coconut Garden didn't look too nice either: they have a poor monkey on a leash and a small beach is packed with bungalows and rooms. If you're looking for relaxation and some service, go somewhere else. I'd definitely recommend Secret Paradise for their beautiful beach & rooms and decent service.

It was so relaxing and beautiful that we booked 2 extra nights on the day we arrived instead of going to El nido (to where they offer transport with a boat).
An amazing beach with a coral reef 10m after stepping into the water. It's an idyllic getaway.

Wonderful place to relax and do nothing. Average rooms/cottages, good food and hammocks between the coconut trees at the beach. Go for the cottages rather than a room, it means you'll have your own solar power (for fan and lights) the hours the general generator isn't running.

How do we contact this property to make booking? Tried emailing but hasn't received a response.

To my knowledge email should do it, but response time can be long... due to the fact, that they only turn on their generator from 11-13 and 18-22 every day - and air connection can be bad... it's a true Robinson Island ;-) /Peter
