Oman Safaris travel, run by a gentleman named Hamad, operate this camp. We booked a 3 day, 2 night private tour that included a night at this camp / crossing of the Wahiba Sands desert and other activities. The entire trip was excellent - our driver and guide Hamood was fantastic.
As to the Camp itself - it really could not have been a better experience. There are only two "room" tents for two sets of guests, with a sitting/dining tent and a shared bathroom/shower area. The meals, accommodations, etc. were all top notch.
This was an excellent trip and great place - highly recommended.

We were scheduled to stay at another camp and found availability here at the last minute. We followed them in our 4x4 through 45 minutes of sand dunes and arrived at a completely separate camp of our own. We stayed in the two chalets--one for us and one for our teenage kids. There was also a nicely appointed, shared bathroom with a toilet, sink, and shower (though we didn't use the shower). There was also a chalet for us to have dinner and breakfast. There was a staff member on sight to help with our bags and to cook and serve our meals. The food was quite good, and the service was very attentive. The setting is ideal...quiet and beautiful for the sunset, sunrise, and stargazing. This was one of the two highlights of our 12 day trip to Oman and we would highly recommend this private experience over the larger camps. Unbeatable!

Well not sure how to start, this was a wonderful and unique experience. Organised at last minute, we wantd an exclusive experience in the desert and not excited by the offering of the many multi-tents camps. Found starwatchingprivate camp web site which by far exceeeded expectations. We were three of us , my two teens (14/17) and myself and Jamila organised everything from the hotel pick up in the mountains to the desert and then our way back to Muscat including stop at the Wadi Bani Khalid. Attention to details, availability and comfort, we could not have asked for more and Jamila and their bedoins family were the best possible hosts. If you are looking for private camping in the middle of the dunes this is the place to be and that's the rue meaning for us of luxury. The tent was beautifully decorated with nice beds and linen, an extraordinary well set up external shower and toilets added to the unique feeling with a special area to lay down and watch the stars. We were received by the bedoins family with such hospitality and warmth this was incredible. We shared diner all together under the stars in the courtyard of the family house, a memorable souvenir. Early wake up to see the sunrise and 2 hours hiking looking for desert inhabitants (scopions, Lezard etc..) with visits to the bedoins animals (camels, sheeps) were simply wonderful moments. We travelled a lot but can definitely advise for this experience.

If you are in Oman, I highly recommend experiencing camping at Starwatching Private Camp. Camping in the desert in Oman was one of the most peaceful and unique experiences that my wife and I have done. The country of Oman is beautiful and diverse. It is easy to get around and the people we met were so friendly. But our favorite experience during our visit was camping in Wahiba Sands at Starwatching Private Camp. I say “camping” loosely, because it is definitely not “roughing it.” The luxury tents are huge and beautifully decorated. In addition to our tent, there was an entire tent for dining and lounging, and a bathroom with fully running water. Although we were in the desert, we had incredible, huge meals. We loved lounging in the Arabian tent, drinking tea, and eating dates.
Our 2 nights in the desert was an incredible way to relax and disconnect from the rest of the world. At night the stars were incredible. It was an amazing feeling being the only guests in the camp. We loved walking around the dunes and seeing nothing but desert surrounding us. One of our favorite experiences was driving our own rental car to camp. The Starwatching Private Camp team helped us know the right amount of air to let out of our tires for the best traction. Staying at Starwatching Private Camp is the perfect amount of adventure mixed with luxury. I’d definitely recommend booking this incredible experience in Oman.

It is hard to know where to book in this area, but I am so glad I chose this one - it was the experience of a lifetime. Logistics - you deflate your tires and drive to the meeting point where your hosts bring you tea, water, dates, sweets, and fruit. Next, you head up the dunes to your private camp. The camp is a beautiful canvas tent with carpets and comfy beds, along with bathrobes, towels, and all the amenities. The camp has a separate shower tent with a sink and a toilet. Then there is the stargazing platform and the open faced tent where you eat and relax - like a living room. You are surrounded by the dunes and it is incredible.
What makes this the best is the hosts - the hospitality is unparalleled. Everyone is so kind. While we were able to enjoy the area with full privacy, our host came up to being us dinner and breakfast. And what incredible meals they were! My kids also enjoyed the sunset camel ride.
If you’ve come this far, take the xtra step and book a private glamping experience in the desert. You will remember it forever.

We were lucky to explore Oman for two weeks and stayed in some of the country's finest hotels, but nothing compared to our experience with Badr. We love private, genuine and off the beaten path experiences far from the masses, and we got just that. The time we spent with Badr and his family was inspiring, memorable and immersive. We loved getting an inside glimpse into his day to day life, seeing his animals and cruising around the desert. The tent set up for us was of the highest quality, complete with a comfortable bed, toilet, shower and a delicious breakfast in the morning. We'll never forget getting up early to see the sunrise over the sand dunes, with no one around us but a few friendly camels. We are already looking forward to coming back! Thank you Badr and your whole family for this unforgettable experience.

This was the highlight of our visit to Oman. From the moment we were greeted at the office in Bidyah onwards. We followed our wonderful host out into the desert in our 4x4 and found the drive breathtaking and exhilarating, arriving just before the hot sun sank from the sky. The meal was superb as was our accomodation for the night- the height of luxury with wonderful ornamental touches, lighting and plenty of water. Oussman (forgive spelling) took amazing care of us and preparing and serving our meals- which was nothing short of miraculous! Star gazing was beautiful and the silence deafening! We left after breakfast before it got too hot and enjoyed the drive out- taking lots of pictures. I am so glad we had the private experience compared to one of the larger star gazing camps.... It gave us a real sense of perspective of being a dot in the greater universe. An experience that I will never forget. Thank you.

Our stay here was excellent. Our guide waited for us to arrive, greeted us warmly, prepared our car to travel to the camp, and we traveled into the desert with beautiful views.
Upon arrival we were offered cold drinks, tea, and coffee along with some snacks while our luggage was unloaded and put into our camp.
Dinner was plentiful and delicious! Vegetarian, pescatarian, and meat options.
We slept quietly and peacefully in our comfortable camp. At 3 am we went to stargaze on the platform and saw shooting stars.
The next day we had breakfast, surfed in the sand, and went on a camel ride.
Highly recommend this camp for the warm hospitality, great food, clean and comfortable accommodations in a large sturdy tent with comfortable beds.

Fantastic. Book Starwatching private camp. There are 2 camps as part of the setup get there, one camp shared with a couple of accommodations. The other one, this one called Starwatchig, is fully private. Both are great but suggest booking the private one. Suggest booking 2 nights to really settle down. Fantastic setting, accommodation, and food. The camp is isolated, on high ground (= so much better for sunset vs. all the other built-up camps that have to be down next to the main road). Sand surfing on the dune with the kids. The food is amazing. Very much worth the trip. An experience to remember.
