On July 2, 2023, Sunday we have our summer company outing at the La Luz Beach Resort and Spa located in San Juan Batangas, Philippines. This is going to be our second time at this resort, if I remember right we have our company outing in 2016 and now 7 years after we are back, It brings a lot of wistful thinking and feelings of melancholy that most of the people I am with back in 2016 are no longer with the company. However, let us set aside this gloomy feeling as today is supposed to be for us to recharge, relax, destress, and unwind.

Looking back now, 7 years ago, there were so many changes that happened, and one of that major changes or probably an upgrade for La Luz is their infinity pool. The pool was very wide and had a very picturesque spot overlooking the sea. The rock formation near the resort is still there and it perfect spot for you to take pictures for every occasion, in my thought the spot is best for prenuptial photoshoots, commercials photoshoots, and the whole nine-yard. The infinity pool is the best spot as well for pictures which I and friend and officemate enjoyed.

The facility looks the same, I remember their room accommodation is cozy, their AC is working perfectly fine and the water in each of the rooms is strong which is a plus for me in every accommodation I have. Nonetheless, since our company outing for this year is only for Day Tour Package, I didn't get a chance to check out their room accommodation now, although it was good 7 years ago, I am hoping that it is the same case now since there were able to even upgrade there facility and add a swimming pool.

The downside, however of the resort is their shower area, I think they NEED to have a MAJOR change in their shower rooms, it was dark and grimy looking, and most of the door of each of the shower cubicle is dirty looking, although the water is strong it is disappointing. The urinal is not working, and some of the toilet bowls don't look good although it has bidet just the same you cannot do number 2 in those sad-looking washroom cubicle, I can't help but compare the shower rooms of Aquaria Resort when we have our company outing there, it looks and smells clean, the shower room is nice and perfect, the water toos is strong. The washroom near the front desk was also sad looking, even the single cubicle in the men's room have no light, it was dark and flooded with water but yet again the bidet and the water is strong but doesn't compensate for the grim experience you will get, so I hope the management will pay attention on this. The food is so-so, guess the food for every guest is different, it was good, but it was not great, but that's ok.

Overall our stay turned out still enjoyable, apart from some significant issues we notice, the experience is just the same, we still get to unwind and destress, and that's the most important thing but that doesn't mean the issue will be ignored, if fix, those may add up to a perfect beach resort experience moving forward.

Parang abandoned mansion ang peg ng entrance. Wala tao sa reception area when we went there 😂. We had to go down the steep stairs which would be difficult for elderly or disabled people. Definitely not a place for people in wheelchair.

Mukha din binagyo sila. Puro dried leaves ung lalakaran. Place wasn’t really so clean lalo na sa dining area. Dami pa mosquito and langaw.

Visually pleasing naman ung room. However, upon closer inspection, you’ll notice na meron padin talaga madumi lalo na ung sa CR HAHAHAHHAHAHA may slimy thing and the place to hang clothes wasnt clean. 😂

Food was really good though. Galing ni chef.

Mabato ung beach, but there’s a pool anyway.

Ah! Mahirap contact ung front desk. No telephone in the room. Kelangan matiempohan mo ung staff nila pag may need ka.

The reception was not as warm as other resorts in the area. Their COVID screening protocols at the reception area were ok, but they could have been more welcoming. It was our first time to experience a resort security guard checking our bags like in an airport, just to see if we had any snacks, because they prohibit these inside the resort. We found it rather intrusive, because at times the guard would even touch our things with his hands.

The rooms were old and the bedsheets had stains. As with a similar comment made here, there was a construction area by the pool that did not have any warning signs, and so we almost stepped on the open wet cement.

The service is poor in the restaurant, and the cups did not appear to be properly cleaned. We were also served a plate that seemed to have been used (i.e. it had rice on it).

The location is really good, but I think they can improve the facilities and services. There are cleaner, more professional and more modern resorts in the area with similar price ranges.

On a positive note, they quickly replied to our reservation request even if it was made on the same day.

Beach :beach and water is clear and clean. except for a dog poop i found on the shore. if resort allows pets, owners should be responsible to clean their own pet’s poop.
Dining : main dining area not so clean and back of house kitchen and staff quarters can be seen from dining and its quite an eye sore. Tables and chairs are not well cleaned. resort dogs are allowed to roam which makes guests uncomfortable. dining staff are hard to call for anything we need. Food is ok. We loved the crispy pata and the sisig we had for dinner. and the pochero for lunch. Breakfast was not that great , could still be improved.
Accomodation : Rooms were not really kept very clean. the faucets looks so work out , the sink drain looks so yucky, towels has old stains , bathroom tiles looks dirty , needs regrouting. beddings are ok.
Wifi - is strong in some areas but very weak and slow in our room. Cabanas are not also well kept. I think the resort need to upgrade their rooms as well as the bath amenities that comes with it. Highly appreciated are the complimentary water and softdrinks in the refrigerator.

Service : check in staff is accommodating and friendly. we understand the rule of no portable speakers allowed as my son had to go back to the car to leave his speakers however I hope they strictly apply this rule to all guests as we saw guest playing their portable speaker near the table we were placed while waiting for our room to be available for check in.
Waitress in the bar getting order for drinks was not wearing a mask. had to call her attention. she did wear her mask after i called her attention but removed it again afterwards.
Our room was not readily available at 1pm. had to follow up and when we were led to our room , staff was still cleaning it. cleaning was not that well done maybe they did it haphazardly because we were told the guest prior us refuse to check out on the given time.

Pool : pool is ok but during our swim we smelled a strong sewer like smell which made us cut short our swimming time. don’t know exactly where it came from.

I am honestly disappointed with our stay. we stayed in La Luz in 2012 and we were hoping and expecting a much better resort after all these years. This is very unfortunate because the beach ,scenery and water is really very nice. Sayang. Don’t think we will book here again after our experience.

Toilets and shower rooms are very dirty and it smells bad. Breakfast, lunch and dinner can only be eaten from the restaurant area that even the elderly willbhave to walk from the room to the restaurant. Portable speaker are not allowed for no reason at all. Food are very expensive but doesn’n taste any better. We called assistance at the souvenir shop but have waited along time without anyone catering for our needs but staffs are only sitting their butt off at the cottage down below. The bunker beds are damaged. We do not recommend this resort to any family at all. We will never return to La Luz anymore, bad experience.

Beautiful resort, wonderful amenities. We highly recommend. Stayed here for 2 days and the overall experience was awesome. From booking, check in and check out, everything went smooth and easy. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food was great. We booked our stay in the wee hours of the morning online and their reservations are very accommodating and answered my questions promptly and courteously.

This Resort is our go-to place whenever we need to relax as a family or as a couple. This month, we went as a couple to celebrate my new job. We love to try new dishes and La Luz just added new dishes in their already yummy menu. They have ice cream, chips , shakes, sandwiches, etc for snacks and savory dishes for lunch or dinner. Their Keto coffee is delish! They also have the widest beach front in the area. You don’t have to go far when snorkeling to see colorful schools of fish! Truly a great place to recharge:)

Really had a great time staying at Laluz Beach Resort.

It's very peaceful and you'll feel relaxed staying on their cabanas while hearing sound of waves.

Their infinity pool is to die for 😍 very IG worthy spot. Overlooking a clear ocean.

We also experience Dining under the stars along the beach while having a 5 course dinner and a Bonfire ❤️ perfect for a family and friend dining experience. Very romantic with an exceptional service from their F&B team.

The owner is also very hands-on in the resort operations. Kudos to everyone who's part of the La Luz Operations ❤️ me and my friends feel safe and just experience one of the best vacation ever 🙏 definitely will go back again with my family 😍

Worst customer service. Incompetent, untrained, trashy crew. Litter everywhere in the cabanas and beach. Food is super overpriced! Imagine, Php 350 pesos for 5 pcs of turon, that even took about 30 minutes to prepare. They renovated their resort but they forgot to train their staff. Spend your money elsewhere

Hi Thea! I'm not entirely sure how to get there from your location (Lucena) but best bet would be taking a bus going to Batangas City.
