If you are traveling to Bohol and wish to stay at a place home away from home? You must book here. I was delighted to find this place and not only did i book it in 2 different periods but i'll return many times over! Lord of the Manor and Master Chef Julian is a charming gentleman that runs this place with lot's of love and care! Host Mariz is super friendly and welcoming and will accommodate your requests at any time of day or evening looking after you with extreme care! Two little angels are there to aid this place run smoothly and make your stay extremely pleasant. There is a lot of value staying here. From amazing dinners prepared w emphasis on fresh and prime ingredients to renting motorbikes so you tour the island's destinations leisurely. Bohol is about simple lifestyle and time to enjoy nature. Many attractions are at your reach for entrance fee not expensive at all... zip line? chocolate hills? tarsiers? butterfly garden? magaso falls? beaches? all delightful to attend... Rainy outside? stay in and ask for a variety of movies to watch while in your room... remember you can ask for snacks, beer, even games if you get bored on those rainy days... I can't wait to visit my friends at Seaside again! Tips: need airport transfer? ask for Ryan to be your taxi driver when you book. If you are ok with a motorbike driver? Ask for Vanny (Giovanny). Get a Thai massage in city. Ride the motorbike around the island!!!

We arrived at the Sea Side Boutique Hotel with no expectations, and were very positively surprised when we got to the resort. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, and the room we stayed in was beautiful. When we came back to the room in the evenings, the room was always cleaned to perfection by the sweet staff Kim. Julian (the owner) always helped us out if we had any questions or problems, and was always super friendly and nice to talk to. It is a small resort, which made the stay nice and quiet, and we felt very special and well taken care of. They always served us tea or coffee, and Kim always prepared our fruit if we bought some. The staff are so down to earth, and we felt very home at the same time as we were staying in a beautiful resort. The resort is located a bit outside the most touristic places, which made the stay even more unique, and the locals in the area are so nice and friendly (we even became a part of a super sweet philippino family). Thank you so much for making our week in Bohol perfect! We wouldn't have wanted it in any other way, and we will defenitely be back some day. Hugs, Lene & Sandra (Norway)

Extended stay. Simple and a little out of the way but very nice ambiance/atmosphere. Staff was attentive but not intrusive. Breakfast was unique and tasty. Reasonably priced. Rooms clean and more than adequate. I'll be back.

We stayed for three nights at the Seaside Boutique Hotel which appeared to have two rooms. We chose to stay here based on positive reviews from other travelers. It's located down an undeveloped side road about 7-10km SW of Tagbilaran. Having lived, worked, and traveled in SE Asia for over 20 years, this was truly the most disappointing "stay" we have had in a small hotel or guesthouse. Being travelers who can rough it when we need to, we can be ready for just about anything. But we would not consider this a true "guest house" as described in the various online booking sites. You're simply staying at Julian's home, similar to booking a room on "AirBNB". The name is misleading as it really isn't a " Seaside Hotel". If you should choose to book a stay here, you are quite a distance from pretty much everything. This means local roads, the sea, cafes or street food and any markets at all. One can get to the ocean down a pathway, but this access point is dirty, littered, and had quite a bit of broken glass. One positive is that it is a very quiet home with absolutely no other tourists around (if that's what you want). Owner Julian does have a well used Honda motorbike he'll rent for 500P a day. He is only around in the evening, having to work a day job in town. There are some issues that this establishment must address out of respect for paying guests who rely on the accuracy of booking and review sites. All of the dining area, bedrooms, and common area need a good, deep cleaning and sanitizing. The bed in our room needed real sheets and a decent mattress. The rooms smell of mildew. The water pressure in our shower was very poor, making tough to take a shower. Another major concern was food. The meals/dining were just "OK" in quality, yet they were quite overpriced. For instance, our first night we were told that dinner was 295P per person. But on check out we were actually charged 350P for one plate of spaghetti with no fruit, no veggies, and no beverage. Our first morning breakfast was set out for us without our knowledge, so it sat for about half an hour and got cold. The meal was oily scrambled eggs, a little bit of bacon, and half a stale baguette. No butter, no preserves, no fruit, and coffee was a cup of hot water and Nescafe packets. We finally used the motorbike to find a local fruit stand so we could supplement our meals. We even shared our fruit with Julian and his daughter at the next dinner and were still charged 700P (about $16 for very average food). Bottom line is that there are a lot of issues that need attention before it receives a recommendation to travelers who may be coming from the other side of the globe. Lastly - before compiling this assessment of Julian's place - I reread both reviews and descriptions of his " guesthouse" listed on three different booking sites. I feel there is some serious misrepresentation in his advertisements. To feature a pool and gorgeous beach in his ad is simply wrong. Likewise with photos of shrimp dinners. His description and photos make it appear to be a clean and well managed place to stay with the amenities and activities nearby. It's not. It's merely his house which is down a very rugged road, and it's sorely in need of some management and cleaning.

Outstanding cuisine and service. At this price point its a no brainer!. Rooms are well equipped in a native but orderly style. Mirrors shine and as do the smiles of staff. On arrival I was greeted with free green tea with fresh lime and iced water which was a refreshing healthy start. There is a lovey terrace where I ate a first class meal in a European cooking style which made a nice change . The location is quiet and there is no traffic noise which i loved as i wanted a really good sleep. I used a motorbike rented cheaply from the hotel which helped me do some memorable sight seeing . The hotel helped with that. I also wondered a twenty minute walk to the local spa which was quite something with a white beach and infinity pool as well as manicured gardens. There was a charge for that but it was money wisely spent. Lovely stay . I will be back !
