Worst Hotel in Thailand The only good thing about this hotel is its location and even that too the pictures are deceptive. The hotel will stoop to anything to take your security money. They not only accused us of stealing hand towels, made racist comments, they also made us clean the towel to show them that the makeup stain can be removed and if that wasn’t enough, they the asked us to clean all the towels and remove smudges of makeup stain! The person at the desk had no etiquette or any sense of decency. Worst service of my entire life.

Clean hotel with good AC. Walking distance to Karon beach and markets. On a quieter street which is awesome for getting a good rest. Roof top pool is beautiful and quiet most days. Only con is the 1000 baht deposit that is required. Prior to checking out they went up and inspected our room. One towel had a small amount of sand/dirt on it and the staff brought it down to show us and said we would not be getting our deposit back. After going with them to a sink and showing them that the sand/dirt simply washes off the towel they gave us our full deposit back.

Stayed a week in Feb 2020 and although clean and respectable not the best hotel I have stayed in. The rooms are small with the bathroom and terrace very small, the most expensive hotel bar far of our stay this year, and would not come back. The photos in Booking.com give a different view and overall disappointing, with the breakfast not great. The staff are all friendly and helpful

We stayed over Christmas and can’t rate this hotel high enough. From check in to check out we experienced nothing but excellent service. The staff were friendly and attentive, they knew our room number without being told and we were always met with a smile. The room was basic but extremely clean and for me this is priceless. I knew I wasn’t booking a 4/5 star hotel therefore was not expecting the type of facilities those hotels have. The beach is directly across the hotel and sun beds are cheap to rent. I used the pool twice and it was deep and suitable for swimming with a lovely jacuzzi section and great views. The breakfast was really nice with everything you could want. Nice freshly ground coffee and pots of tea always available. There is a shop almost next door, not a lot of choice but ideal for cold drinks and snacks. I can’t comment on previous reviews only my own experience and I can safely say this was a good choice at a great price. I will definitely stay here again. Photos are view from the rooftop pool up to the big Buddha and the pool.

Dear HUDJ, Thank you very much for your stay during the festive period. We are delighted that your experience was delightful, especially the service from the staffs, the cleanliness of the room, and also the location of the hotel. It is indeed a very convenient location with shops, beach and many other facilities at just a stone's throw away. Happy to know that enjoyed the breakfast and the Rooftop too, that is a favourite place for pretty much everyone. We look forward to being of service to you again on your next visit to Phuket. Have a fabulous 2020 ahead! Best wishes, Grand Sunset Hotel Team.

We stayed here for two nights and on check in staff were very friendly and chatty. We were offered a welcome drink but no cold towel which would have been nice after a long journey on the ferry from phi phi in the heat of the day. Room is basic but has everything you need and reasonable clean (mould on our curtains and shower heads a bit mouldy too). You only get one key and therefore aircon can not be left on to keep the room cool during the day and the cleaners removed our card when cleaning the room. Aircon is also noisy with a humming and blowing noise but this did not disturb our nights sleep. Bed is reasonable comfortable but only one pillow which was a bit too firm and raised so woke up with a slightly stiff neck. On a morning you can here guests slamming doors and chatting for long periods of time due to doors having a slightly larger gap or being poorer quality than better star hotels which was disruptive early in the morning but equally coaxed us out of bed earlier but would be annoying for a longer stay. However this is not a fault of the hotel as such and is more down to rude and inconsiderate guests as I would not allow a door to slam or talk loudly in the corridor early in the morning. Bathroom waterfall shower was broken and the small shower did not stay still when on and soaked me and flooded the bathroom when turned on. if we notified reception they might have changed our room but as we were only staying two nights we didn’t bother. Free treats on the roof bar at certain times, tea and coffee 3-4 rum punch at 6-6.30 when watching the sun set and popcorn 8-10pm which is a nice extra. We had difficulty with the safe as it locked with the previous persons code and reception came to resolve it within 2 minutes of making the call. Iron and ironing board was also brought promptly. We didn’t have breakfast included so chose to eat else where. To rent a scooter you must have an international driving licence. Which seems to be the same most places in Phuket so worth organising prior to coming if you plan on doing so as police are known to stop tourists and fine you if you don’t have this. Location is good - far enough away from the main area in Karon so is quiet but a short walk to many bars and restaurant and right on the beach. It is a very touristy area so the beach is busy and has a lot going on. Overall the hotel is fine for a short stay but I personally wouldn’t stay for an entire holiday as I prefer more of a luxury hotel but it is fine and good value for money.

Very nice hotel with a great location in the central part of Karon beach. As we stayed for 10 days hotel staff provide us a room of a higher category than we had booked. Overall hotel and rooms are very clean, staff is very friendly and helpful. Our room on the 5th floor was very large and bright, with a pretty view on the mountains and Big Budda from one side and sea on another. Good breakfasts, large portions, but a small selection of dishes. The only minus is that some times had to wait a long time until they bring breakfast. Beautiful view from the rooftop. Sea in 2 minutes walk from the hotel. Numerous of restaurans and shops around, fruit and souvenir market in 10 minutes walk. We would stay there again.

Stayed here for 3 nights. The staff were so accommodating and helpful. They moved us to a better room when we had an issue with ours. Great location, very close to the beach, plenty of shops and eats. Nice pool on the roof. This area has a lot of Russian tourists, but most of the locals still speak a little english.

Throughly enjoyed my stay and would return. Rooftop pool was great, rooms and hotel were very clean. The staff are helpful and very polite however service can be a little slow. We arrived early and waited for check in which was absolutely fine, however our room then took an additional 2hrs to be made ready. Minor complaint and didn’t ruin our stay. One note on pool safety - Do not walk or run on the wet grey tiles around the pool ... super slippy. The barmen had no first aid training, my partner and myself had to assist other guests on three occasions for twisted ankles and strains. I would stay again and had a great stay.

We visited the rooftop bar in September. The staff were extremely unhelpful even though we were the sole customers. We ordered 4 drinks. 2 appeared and 15 minutes later we had to ask about the other drinks. When the second 2 drinks arrived they were not what we had ordered. The staff then tried to put a 10% service charge on the bill. In my opinion you cannot charge a service charge if you are just sitting there not serving us. In all of my travels in Southeast Asia this has easily been the worst service I have ever had here. For a nation that is usually so hospitable and welcoming the staff at the Grand Sunset bar certainly let us down.

Dear neilcU9373YH, We do apologise for the shortfall of service on our part. Albeit unintentional, we understand your position. We will point out that we do not 'put' service charge on the bill but rather it's a 'net' price that we work with as in most establishments in Thailand. With regrets, Grand Sunset Hotel Team.
