Facing South China Sea, Lago de Oro Beach Club is located in Balibago, in the town of Calatagan, Batangas, a two-hour drive from Manila. The first cable wakeboarding park in the Philippines, the resort treats guests to nonstop adventures. The beachfront resort offers accommodations furnished with cable television, refrigerator, and mini-bar. They also have a balcony/ deck to spur your mood for relaxation.
I've been to this hotel thrice and have experienced a great customer service. The staff always welcomes you with smiles on their faces plus the fact that they make sure rooms are Immaculate on a daily basis. Highly recommended for wakeboarding enthusiast because hotel rooms are very near to the wake park. The balcony has an awesome view of the wakepark. Food were delicous especially the pinoy breakfast beef steak. :-)

We enjoyed our stay at Lago de Oro. I highly recommend it for those into wakeboarding/cableparks. I almost didn't book at this resort/hotel because of the negative reviews. But I noticed that most of the bad reviews were from years ago and the positive ones are more recent. Their online reservation system works well too. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The room we stayed in is old based on the permanent furnishings but it is well maintained or renovated recently (the receptionist said they have a newer building). The rooms are clean too. It was a 5-day holiday weekend in Manila but they weren't fully booked that night so it was quiet. There is no room service and no intercom. There is a restaurant which has okay food but could do better since the menu is priced…

This place is perfect only for wakeboarding, not for the beach. The restaurant serves decent food, and has a bar, but closes at 10 pm. No room service after that. The rooms are nice and big for a 2-person unit, with a nice bathroom. I like the touch of installing a bottle opener right above the garbage can. There is a minibar, but has only beers and sodas. They supposedly charge corkage fees, but nobody batted an eye when I brought up a cooler full of beer into the room. The beach is wrong to be called dirty, but also wrong to be called clean. There are rafts so close to the boundaries of the resort, whose captains would offer boat rides to all who walk along the sand. At high tide, the water touches the steps to the resort, and at low tide, the sand could stretch for a mile…

Response from EllenCp, General Manager at Lago de Oro

Thank you for your comments, our aim is to satisfy when at all possible. The dirt is the sea is caused by the current, what happens is that in Lian the garbage is dumped in the river and when it rains the garbage is washed to the sea, the current then takes it to our shore, also, many times the ship going pass often dumps garbage.

This place is nice because it is reasonably reachable from Manila. I visited during the low season so it was fantastic not to have any lines to deal with. I recommend a trip her in September/October if you want to gamble on the weather. Decent pool and decent wakepark set up... Everything else is just okay. If you plan to eat in the restaurant, expect to pay western prices for low quality food. Drinks are equally as expensive. There are no restaurants in the area, so plan accordingly. The staff was super friendly and helpful, which is why I gave three stars instead of four. Bartender was friendly and they let me store my bags behind the counter so I could wakeboard the whole day after I checked out.

This place really surprised me. Very well managed, a hard thing to find in the PI. Food was great (wood fired pizzas, pastas, and omelets were my favorites) with a lot of the ingredients made fresh on site (pasta, bread, sausage, etc.). The room was clean and well maintained. Staff helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. Wakeboarding was a blast, and then you add in the pool, darts, ocean beach, billards, sauna, and you and the family will be all smiles. I have traveled in the PI for many years and the week spent here was one of the best. Very well managed. It was a peaceful stay with no lines at all for wakeboarding.

We went there during the Holy Week break and checked in at around 7pm on the 18th of April. (We spent the day at a different resort on a Day Trip package. Unfortunately they were too full to accommodate us overnight so we opted to go to Lago de Oro instead) Having already tried the menu at the previous resort, our group decided to have dinner at Lago because they were purported to be known for their "Seafood Restaurant". Once we got there, the ladies at the reception desk weren't welcoming, nice nor accommodating. We were never served our "welcome drinks" even after asking for it twice. We were a tired, bedraggled group of 8 who just wanted to relax. When asked about their dinner fare, we were informed that they only sold buffet dinner at Php 595 per head. We asked if they…

If you want to try your hand at wakeboarding, this is a good place to experience it. As I was a novice, the instructors provided me tips and took care of my safety. Once you have achieved mastery, you can then do all sorts of stunts. No need to bring equipment. They have all the stuff you need. But as a hotel / restaurant, it is just average. Room was very basic. Food is nothing special. Beach is nothing special either. So you just go there for the wakeboarding.

We went here on a weekday to avoid the long que at the wakeboarding area because my kids are first timers and i don't want to waste time waiting in line for our turn because we only have half a day left. I'm glad I did because my kids throughly enjoyed the experience. The hotel is quite lived in but clean. The staff are courteous and helpful. They even allowed us a late check out without additional fees. The restaurant serve mostly Itallian dish since the owner is from the land of Pasta. The great thing about it is that they have enermous serving of bread... bread baked in the restaurant and of course the Italo Music Disco that I haven't heard for a long time is happily playing while we eat. ;) The prices are quite steep for local tourist but if you travel abroad you will see…

I stayed as part of a bigger group, for a weekend. The overall site was pleasant, nice eating area adjoining the pool and looking onto the sea. Unfortunately the sea is a but muddy close by, when the tide is out it is a long way to get to water you can swim in, when it's in the area is generally a bit dull and muddy - certainly not somewhere to see lots of fish. Pool is nice and was clean. The main attraction is the wakeboarding. I tried the beginners lake and on a Sunday morning it took about 1 and a half hours for five, very short, goes (as I fell in every time!). This could have been improved a bit by some control over attendance or getting people to have their turns in a different order. The staff there were very helpful. The lake was extremely warm and salty though.…
