Everything in this place is far by the worst I've ever seen.. to think this was the "classiest" in the area.

Let me summarize it to you:
-Air conditioning aren't strong enough to cool the room. (had to ask for an electric fan)
-Water from the shower smells like rust. (shower head even broke down bec of the pressure)
- food was expensive (barely restaurant levels. Even Jollibee serves good food)
- Pool was crowded with people.
- People weren't following proper swimming pool attire. Most of them are wearing t-shirts.
- Company outing coincided with our trip and were dominating the whole resort. (Non-Stop karaoke even in the middle of the night)
-Manager sucks.

Not recommended. Take it from me. The only saving grace of this place is the wake board area.

We went there during the Holy Week break and checked in at around 7pm on the 18th of April. (We spent the day at a different resort on a Day Trip package. Unfortunately they were too full to accommodate us overnight so we opted to go to Lago de Oro instead) Having already tried the menu at the previous resort, our group decided to have dinner at Lago because they were purported to be known for their "Seafood Restaurant".

Once we got there, the ladies at the reception desk weren't welcoming, nice nor accommodating. We were never served our "welcome drinks" even after asking for it twice. We were a tired, bedraggled group of 8 who just wanted to relax. When asked about their dinner fare, we were informed that they only sold buffet dinner at Php 595 per head. We asked if they offered ala carte options, we were given several conflicting information by the waiter, the lady at the front desk, and someone from the back office. After several long minutes of the staff arguing between themselves, we finally found out that NO, the ala carte option was not available. So much for having a "Seafood Restaurant". By this time most of us in the group were already very hungry. When we asked them of other restaurants or food places to eat nearby, we were flatly told that they were the only restaurant that served food. Refusing to believe them was the smartest thing we did, and after checking online, we saw that there were other food options available. We drove out (quite a long way though) and found a different place to eat. Suffice it to say, this was major fail number 1.

Major fail number 2 was the state of the room. It was large enough to accommodate us, but the place smelled funky, the mattresses were dusty and the room was slightly dirty. The bathroom water smelled rusty and would flood when you'd take a shower. The toilet wold also accumulate water at the back portion of the bathroom after flushing. Fortunately (for them), we were too tired to care and just went to sleep.

Major fail number 3. Breakfast. The room reservation was for a group of 8, and paid extra for two mattresses to be brought in. Despite this, we were only given 2 breakfast vouchers, leaving the rest of the group to pay for breakfast at (GUESS WHAT?) a Breakfast Buffet! At Php495 per head! Not wanting to waste the rest of the morning by again driving out and buying food elsewhere, we decided to just pay the darn price and eat THE WORST BREAKFAST EVER. Their bread was cold, the meat of the ham, beef, sausage and other choices had a tough, rubbery texture, their rice was blah, and there were flies around. Flies! There were no fresh fruit available, nor other edible things that could have made spending a huge amount worth it. I mean, come on! It's bad enough we had to pay that amount for breakfast, but the least they could do was make it edible! Believe me, I wasn't the only one unhappy.

Major fail number 4.After finally getting the worst breakfast ever out of the way, our group decided to go wake boarding. Guess what? Same unfriendly people at the reception desk. Before you're even able to go out and enjoy the wake boarding facilities, you'll drown in the amount of paperwork they make you fill out, sign, etc. Doing all those things wasted so much time. Their system wasn't efficient at all.

What I'm trying to say is, if you have money, you'll be better off spending it elsewhere. The staff alone were neither helpful nor accommodating. What happened to the "seafood restaurant" of Lago De Oro when they didn't even feed us anything remotely fishy? Guests were forced to pay for yucky buffets, without even offering alternatives. If they had helped us find food elsewhere, this review would have been much much different. As it stands, I don't think I will be coming back here, nor recommending anyone to visit this place ever.

They may have had the first wake boarding facility in the Philippines (or so their error-riddled brochure claimed), but their services also seemed stuck in the stone ages.

I have been frequenting Lago de Oro for almost 7 years now and to my surprise when I arrived today (Saturday the 14th of January 2017) I was told because I didn't spend a certain amount I could not use the pool or even utilize the beach. How disappointing that is to hear, especially after speaking with the manager and to be told by her (that in the 7 years of my patronage) that I should have asked about using the pool and to be given attitude at the same time by the manager of this establishment. Lastly, I stated that I wouldn't return after the poor way the situation was handled towards a guest let alone patron and to be told by the manager that it was fine leaves me to wonder why it is a deserted resort. I am truly disappointed by how this situation was handled and would most certainly no long refer my friends, family and clients to this establishment.

We were told in advance that there's a company outing that coincides with our reservation so we were prepared that there will be lots of people. But we did not expect the following:
1. The water that runs in the bathroom has a rusty smell. Wifi and TV cable were both intermittent.
2. The pool is small but what really stopped us from dipping into it was the fact that there was no dress code. People were jumping into the pool with their shirts and shorts and even jogging pants. No one took a shower before swimming in the pool. We let them have the pool.
3. So we went to the beach. The water was below knee deep. We were already too far from the shore and the water was not getting deeper. We decided to go back and just hoped the water will be deeper the following day.
4. Karaoke singing started before dinner time. Our room was just a stone throw away from the group's gathering area. We thought it would end at least before midnight. But no! The loud singing was non-stop. We were texting the manager before 4am but there was no response. We decided to go out of our room at 5am and talked to the guard and the receptionist (so imagine how long we extended our patience). The guard on duty was apologetic and explained that he tried to stop the singing as early as 10:30pm but these people were already too drunk and couldnt be stopped. They said they were told by the resort manager that they can enjoy the facilities for 24hrs. It only stopped when a brave waiter came in before 6am and unplugged the karaoke machine.

The manager came to our room around 7am to apologize for the inconvenience. She said it's the first time that this happened in their resort. Now that they experienced this, they will make sure that they will have stricter policies. To make up to us, she offered free breakfast. We told her we will skip breakfast as we had to sleep. We agreed to free lunch instead.

We went to the restaurant for lunch. We were served 1 beef dish and 3 dishes of vegetables - eggplant omelette, pinakbet and vegetable soup. We were really dismayed. You will understand our dismay if you are not a vegetable lover and most of us are not. My sister in law complained and that's the time they brought us fried fish (tilapia) - cut into half and all were heads. What a way to appease unhappy customers.

We were already ok that we were not able to swim since the kids at least enjoyed the wakeboarding. But not to have a good night sleep bec. of the management's inadequency made us really mad. It's not only money that we feel was wasted but the precious time that we were supposed to relax and savor the moment of our family's togertherness that made us consider this family getaway a big failure.

P.S. The wakeboarding facility is good.

Terrible security. The management should investigate further the theft incident happened during our team building as there are no any signs of force entry based on the investigation of the police who assisted us. Do something to be able to return the lost gadgets and money to the victims. I just also learned from my brother's friend that this is not the first theft incident in the resort because way back December 2014, same incident happened wherein worth 400k was stolen from a group who held their convention in this place. Do something what needs to be done! Thank you.

Further to your complaint "POOR SECURITY" All of our guest rooms have doors that are fitted with a normal lock plus a security lock (dead bolt) where the doors cannot be opened without a key. As per the Police report there has been no force entry. at the time of the event there were no housekeeping staff on duty. It is only the Management who has access the keys to guest rooms (Extra keys or Master key) and there were no keys issued on that day. as you will see in our Compendiums (Page 2) inside the room it stated that; "PERSONAL BELONGINGS" Please take care of your own belongings. The hotel is NOT responsible for and will not be held liable for, loss and damage to personal property while on the premises. We have our safe available at reception please ask our staff. As to the comment that something had occured in Dec 2014 where P400K were stolen. This is totally incorrect as no such event ever happened at Lago De Oro nor there was a complaint from guests of any stealing.

I've been visiting Lago de Oro for 12-13 years now. The service is always good, the food is excellent, the rooms are comfortable, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The wakepark also gives a fun alternative that makes them stand out among other resorts. I reccomend this place to all of my friends when vacation time is near, and I hope I can continue to come here every year.

We enjoyed our stay here last month that we had to come back again. It's a great place to relax -- with picture-perfect sunset view. Massage services (which I really enjoyed) can be facilitated upon request. Kids enjoyed the diff activities (wakeboarding, swimming in the pool, building sand castles in the sand bar during low tide/late afternoons and experiencing feeding sheep during early mornings). Their gelato (esp purple yam and mango), baked cheese pasta, and pizzas are simply the best. Very hospitable staff and management.

This is one of our favorite weekend getaways from Manila. Low key, family run hotel on the South China Sea, not a swimming beach because its a bit muddy & very shallow, the tide goes out for miles, fantastic sunsets and delicious Italian food (owner is Italian).
Rooms are a bit tired but clean. If you book directly with the hotel you get free unlimited wakeboarding for your entire stay ! They have 2 lakes with cables but the beginner lake is often not in use. In peak season there tend to be a lot of groups so gets a bit busy. Off season its very quiet so you get to wakeboard a LOT ! Staff are friendly & helpful. Great for families with active kids.

If you are looking for a relaxing resort to stay for a holiday or just a quick break then Lago is the place for you. Away from all the smog of the city and it is very quiet. They have great facilities available, if you love water sports they have an onsite cable ski park where you can ski or wakeboard, traditional style hotel rooms, pool/sauna and an open space for children to play. They have amazing staff who are always willing to help and very helpful and friendly. They offer pampering packages which I love the most as they have massages and foot spa consultants available on site. They have a variety of food available in their menu which includes Filipino food to Italian food and variety of home made products like homemade bread and the best pizza in town!
We live in Perth Australia and each time we visit Philippines my family and I stay here as we know what to expect and we know we will get good service and will be fully relaxed as everyone is always very helpful.

Reading through the other comments below, I would like to address in Lago’s defence their rooms have 2 locks one is a dead bolt and you cannot go in unless you use your key or break the door.

But as a traveller myself I know never to leave any valuable items in my room no matter what hotel I go to. We are in charge of our belongings therefore if we have any valuable items we should always leave it where it is secured like the receptions safe. This is common sense for any traveller.

You cant have high expectations when you go to any hotel or resorts in asia unless you are paying ridiculous amount for it and/or it is a 5 star hotel.

Problems with the WIFI as everywhere in the world will vary and most of the variation go back to suppliers and the number of people using it. For a resort being in a province, their wifi is pretty good if you ask me.
There are unusual problems like water supply in the province. They have to have their own supply as there is no available town supply.

Everyone will have different opinions and experiences and will either have a negative or positive experience wherever you go. But I love this place and would highly recommend it wether it to be a business trip, family trip or romantic trip this place have it all and my family and i will always come back when we visit Philippines! 
