Clean, comfortable and nice pool. A lot of places to eat near by and friendly staff. Restaurant is closed for renovations at this moment. On the down side, there are big ugly constructions around the hotel, making the view less interesting but I still believe it’s a nice place to stay.

We visited this hotel with a group of 13 people on a trip across South America. This hotel should be renovated. The rooms and bathrooms are quite old. The location of the hotel is not bad. We did not eat there, but our group told us that the restaurant was good.

It's definitely a privilege to write the first tripadvisor review for this hotel. It is understandable why there are not many travellers to Jaen, as it is very far of the tourist route. Our group was travelling here for a wedding of a dear friend who has moved to Jaen. After having looked around many of the places recommended by Lonely Planet, she informed us that this was by far the nicest. We had to take her word as there was, still is, not much on the internet about it. Once we got there, we were thrilled with the choice!! The hotel is on a main road and from the front it doesn't look anything special - in fact, it is quite easy to drive past it without even noticing it. But once you're inside, it is like the reality of Jaen is far away and you're in a little paradise. The rooms are, in fact, little bungalows, each with private bathrooms. The showers weren't always hot so that wasn't the nicest of experiences. However, that was the only negative. The rooms were very spacious - a double room meant 2 single beds (but this is quite common apparently), a fridge and a tv. The highlight of the hotel was the swimming pool area which was regularly maintained. It was in the middle of the complex with the bungalows all around. The pool itself didn't taste of chlorine, but it definitely had some form of cleaning agent in it, which was reassuring to see. The grounds were beautifully maintained - coconut and mango trees all around, regularly dropping their fruit, sometimes on your room's roof in the middle of the night! You could sit around the pool, have food from the bar connected to the hotel and relax in this peaceful setting. A typical meal cost around 18 soles, but in general us girls ended up sharing a meal as the quantity was quite big. Breakfast was included in the room’s price, and it was quite impressive. There was a menu where you could choose what you wanted and a waiter brought it out to you. Breakfast was between 7-10am. Water was a bit expensive to buy at the hotel, so one of our friends went out and bought a massive 20 litre barrel of water which we filled up our smaller bottles with. And from what we saw the hotel had no problem with this. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, and they had no problems with us inviting our friends who weren't staying at the hotel in for the day with us. Wi-fi was available at the hotel. Although the internet connection isn't very fast in Jaen, it was worth having it there at the hotel. Outside the complex, Jaen itself was quite an experience. It isn’t the safest of places for non-Peruvians to be. The locals are opportunists who are on the look-out for people to mug or pick-pocket. So when out & about, don’t carry much on you and always be in groups. The main square in nice to go to in the evening – Lactobac is a good place to eat for westerners. Make sure everything you ask for is without salad, well cooked, and without ice! Motos (very similar to Asian tuc-tucs) one way to the main square from the hotel costs 1.50 soles – they will try and charge more, don’t ask for the price, just pay the amount. In all, this place is definitely worth the money it asks for. Should your travelling route take you via Jaen, we would definitely recommend stopping at Hotel El Bosque.
