Imagine having dinner under the stars.. Yep, we were able to do that here. First night at the balcony then the last night at the garden area. In the morning, there is a beaaaautiful view of the Mt. Iraya, so go wake up early. Very near the airport which is convenient. Also at the corner there is a bank/ATM. Lots of local cafe nearby where you can go by foot. Or bike if you prefer. There is a bike rental just at the other side of the street.

Savatan Homestay was referred to us when our scheduled Sabtang trip got postponed due to increment weather and a holiday. Pros: -Affordable -unlimited coffee and hot and cold drinking water -has its own honesty store -Ate Agnes and Ate Janice responded immediately and assisted us with things we need -with Cignal-operated flat screen tv -split-type A/C rooms with private CRs, both are spacious -clean bed sheets, pillow cases, bath towels and blankets -provides Tissue rolls and bath soap -cabinets with hangers -has proper garbage segregation system -amazed with their foldable ergonomic dining table and bench (wanted to have one at home) Cons: -one of the rooms doesn't have cable yet

Savatan Homestay made our Batanes stay even more special. Ate Agnes has been very responsive from the start. As the owner, she is hands-on and very accommodating with all the concerns that we had. She was not present during our stay but Janice and Len were there to cover. Nice and friendly people. Rooms have the basic ammenities, toilet & bath, aircon, towels and soap. TV gets the local channels. Internet is slow in the entire province. However, if your schedule is jampacked with great places and tour sites to visits, you wouldn’t even care not having cable channels and internet, except for those many times that you want to share your photos. Breakfast is ok at P150. Unlimited coffee. There are few items that can be purchased (biscuits, chips, drinks) ala-Honesty Store. It is a homestay, an extension of the house of the owner, so it is easy to feel the warmth. Most rooms can accommodate max of 4 pax, having a double-sized bed and 2 single beds. I find the rate cheap compared to the comfort it provides in terms of the basic ammenities and its location, which is just parallel to the famous Abad Street. Batanes is a must place to visit and Savatan would make you want to come back for more.

Inexpensive but accessible, Savatan Homestay can be as cheap as Php500 for a fan room with a private bath. The rooms are very spacious and the premises are always clean. Water is continuous throughout the day, and the drinking water from the dispenser is always powered on for hot or cold drink options any time of the day. The homestay is walking distance to Abad Street where all other needs can be met. About 10 meters along the street beside PNB. Ms. Agnes is easy to talk to and her souvenir shirts and bags are well designed and contemporary. She also entertains questions about the language if you are willing to ask and learn.

Unlike the other homestays near the town center which is just an erected building, you'll be greeted by a a bermuda grass-laden front yard with flowers here at Savatan Homestay (which is maintained by the owner herself). It looks like far from the map but it's actually a 3-minute walk away from other homestays. And the bank is just outside the corner, Philippine National Bank, which is one of the two only banks in Batan Island. Inside, the interior might be quite small like the others but it's well decorated to make you feel at ease. Their wall and fixtures still look like newly installed, meaning they are good at maintaining their property. It also has it's own Honesty Store inside for your immediate needs. Once inside the fully furnished room with curtains, you get to smell a fragrant scent that will want to make you to lie down in bed. But what's nice is the view outside the window where Mt. Iraya stands clearly looking down upon the homestay. Expect a great sunrise here when you stay (and also a lot of visitors so make sure you reserve your room before it runs out). But just like Batanes, what's best here are the people at Savatan Homestay. You can approach them anytime and if something happens (i.e. brown-out), they won't leave you hanging. When we were eating or waiting for our transpo, we always had a good chat with them, not just about Batanes, but with daily life that makes socializing with them easier. After the whole day trip, you will get tired physically (but emotionally fulfilled) and there's no exception, even if it's Batanes. You just wanted to stay home to rest and to be taken care of. This is the place where you'll just simply say: "Uwi na tayo sa bahay" (Let's go back home).

We stayed for 4days, 3 nights in Savatan Homestay, 2 rooms for our group of six. It's basically an inn with a few rooms, some with AC, other are just fan rooms. Each rooms, as far as I know, has it's own toilet and bath. There is a sala on the second floor and also a balcony where you can just unwind after a day's tour. The balcony is facing Mt. Iraya so it's a relaxing view. The two rooms we booked were air-conditioned rooms. Upon check-in, rooms were clean and with comfortable beds but only 1 pillow for every bed. Good AC. Toilets are okay, room condition, okay also. There's a cabinet where you can store and hang your clothes. Since it's not a hotel, there was no room service and no housekeeping staff to clean our rooms everyday. It's okay since we were not expecting much. The receiving room or the sala, which also serves as breakfast area, is very clean and welcoming also. Breakfast was P150 per person. Separate payment from the accommodation. Simple and usual morning meals of rice, egg and whatever is the "ulam" (dish) for the day. For our first morning, it's the fried flying fish. For 2nd day was fried squid and 3rd day was beef strips (tapa). The caretaker, Ate Janice is really a darling. She's so welcoming with a sweet, genuine smile for each guest. You can request what you prefer for breakfast for the next day. As for the cost, our total payment for accommodation was P12,000 for 3 nights (for 2 rooms) so divide by 6 persons equals P2,000 per person only. It's very affordable and not hard on the budget. Another plus point for Savatan is the location, it's very near PNB with ATM so you can withdraw money anytime, walking distance to everywhere: pasalubong center, church, restaurants and coffee shops. If given a chance to visit Batanes again, I will definitely choose Savatan Homestay. It's really a "home away from home" accommodation and I will definitely recommend it to friends!

The smile and the warm welcome of Ms Agnes & Janice from the first day until we leave the place has made me love the place more. That you are still in the Philippines were hospitality and true virtue of giving of themselves and making us feel we are safe and that all the people of Batanes is more than contended with what they have.

We stayed here last Aug 5-9. Upon arrival we were greeted by Delfin Family who owns the Savatan. The couple is so accommodating and generous. The place is clean and they serve our breakfast on time. We also like the unlimited coffee they offer. During our last night Engr. Delfin served us with Pugita while drinking Aureus and the wine Kuya Manny (Our Favorite Tour Guide and Photographer) brought. They also have a pick up truck and innova which you can rent during your stay in Batanes. I highly recommend this place to stay in Batanes.

i never thought that this place would be so cozy and comfy and clean... its a home away from home. the people/owners and staff were so accommodating and friendly. our room has three beds and the aircon is perfectly working. the sheets are clean. the comfort room is clean. they have cable and wifi. they also provide cabinets for your clothes. they also provide towels and some toiletries. the place has a common living room. food served here were good enough. they provide tours and bike rental. the place is near the airport. quiet environment. i highly recommend this place.
