Our stay in Amboy hometel completes our perfect family vacation in charming Batanes. The staffs are friendly and kind, always with a smile on their faces. The rooms are clean and the amenities are complete. I was really surprised to find a hair dryer in the dresser. Never did i expect for a hometel to have such amenity. The location of the hometel was just perfect too...across it is the beautiful open sea. A short stroll to cross the street and you're already there feeling the cool sea breeze by the beach. The place is surrounded by their own grown vegetables which is part of the food they serve. How fresh could that be? The meals served at their restaurant are simple and yet tasty. The tour guide they got for us - Jay-R is very friendly, helpful and fun to be with. All in all, everything about this vacation was great. We will definitely be back in Batanes and we will stay again in Amboy

Hotel was a great location. Right across the street from the beach. The beach has some great sea shell hunting. Water was great for snorkeling, though shallow. There are sea urchins so proceed with caution.

The staff were great, the rooms nice and clean. The food was pretty good. I would definitely stay here again.

Get a tour through the front desk. Ask for tour guide Art. He was the best guide I have ever had. Knows a lot, helpful and very friendly. He let me borrow his tripod for my time there.

Only thing which could be better is to have better wifi.

Went to Batanes with family in December, we stayed in Amboy and had a great time. Staff are courteous, friendly and accommodating. Rooms are very clean. Not a fan of their breakfast though, but over all it’s a good place to stay

Amboy's Hotel is one of the relatively new places to stay in Batanes. It is impeccably clean and affordable. It has all the basic things you would expect on a hotel, especially on the first day. They provide a comfortable bed and blanket; soft pillows; toiletries; towels; distilled water. This can be rated between 3-3.5/5. Do take note that provision of toiletries on the succeeding days is only done per request. Meaning, if you don't request for shampoo on the second day, a second sachet won't be given. That holds the same for the tooothbrushes and soap. Other than this, the hotel is good enough for a traveller who uses the place for the night. 👍👍👍

Batanes is indeed breathtaking. The tourist spots are all worth visiting. The pristine waters in Batan and Sabtang will amaze anyone who will visit the island. The local dishes are also worth trying. The streets of Basco are also very peaceful. The banca ride to Sabtang was a pleasant one. The tour guide did a good job showing us all the marvelous places. I would rate a trip to this island as 4 out of 5. 😎😎😎

A word of caution for future tourists: the airport security will inspect all the luggage and boxes. And they can be ruthless. XR machines are not available at the airport. Don't fall for the advice of tourist guides AND vendors to use boxes for souvenir items. Although these are relatively inexpensive items, the airport security will open the box and will NOT provide you with anything to seal your box like packaging tape or straw as if saying "it's your problem." Gone are the Ivatan's hospitality at the airport. Do not expect a helping hand. Take note - They will NOT bother to help you at all. AND they will NOT even help you if you ask. It will be up to you to figure out how to secure your belongings. Security may need to be beefed up. But still, the airport ought to provide either packaging tape or straw, considering that every single passenger is required to pay the domestic terminal fee of PhP 100 (not to mention, an ecotourism fee of PhP 350 on arrival). A packaging tape won't even cost a USD 1.00. The airport manager should take this into consideration if they are to ensure a better experience for the guests. For the meantime, bring extra packaging tape and straw (and locks for your luggage). In my case, I insisted that the airline provide packaging tape to secure my items. Although they were initially unwilling to do so, they eventually agreed after I vehemently insisted that they provide one. The airline then provided packaging tape about 1.5m long, still not good enough but better than none at all. ❌

it was horrible! the ONLY spoiler in our 4D3N stay. We ordered their very expensive Kare-kare and they served us cubes of beef skin and three diced beef pieces. You even have to request for their bagoong. it was disgusting, when you chew the beef slices, I thought I was eating mogu mogu in peanut sauce.
What a rip of at P250++ good for two servings.
Their hotel brochure was even a big joke.

We waited for 8 months since we booked our trip to Batanes so obviously when the day finally came we were very much excited. Upon arriving at the Basco airport, we were automatically picked up by the Amboy driver in a blue yaris car. We were surprised to find out that even though we were just two, they reserved the car just for us and had the other tourists ride the van. Upon arrival at the place we were immediately served with a hearty lunch and got introduced to Batanes' famous flying fish, uvud balls and vegetables. We've noticed that it was very hot in the restaurant so we decided to go to our room and try to sleep. What we didn't know, aside from the very hot weather in the island, we would be experiencing a very hot hotel as well because the hotel's generator cannot sustain its power. Not having an aircon was almost bearable because the generator can turn on the fan but we didn't know that there would be a lot of times that the hotel would not have any electricity at all..from the lights, to electric fan and to the water!A trip to Batanes is definitely not cheap. So we were expecting to stay at a decent place to rest after a very tiring tour.We stayed at the hotel for 4 days and 3 nights and we were always praying that there will be a generator at least at night. No matter how great the food or the customer service was for this hotel, they would be losing a lot of customers if they did not have a big generator because at the end of the day, one is expected to get what they paid for. And having to sleep on your underwear as you were covered with sweat was not a good memory to recommend this hotel to others at all.

We booked the hotel and tour through a friend who stayed there before. The place is near the beach. Just cross the main road and you're there. Good for families, couples. The rooms are contained in two cottages, ground floor and second floor. Rooms are brightly colored, simple, with an old TV, no Ref, shower with heater, but the floors would sometimes get flooded. No wi-fi, almost no cell phone signals. From our room we could hear conversations of kitchen staff. Garden, separate dining area, gazebo for al fresco dining -quite decent, relaxed ambience. Free breakfast for two. Stuffed pork sausage longganisa is excellent. We opted to have most of our meals at the hotel, at extra charge. Meals were typical Ivatan fare, quite healthy. The most memorable meal was the coconut crab -it feeds only on coconuts. You have to request this in advance. There aren't many dining options in town. We also hired the resident tour guide, Rogers Amboy, an Ivatan, to show us around for two whole days. We hired their van and driver for Php500/day. Rogers is a character, lending local color to the tour. We learned a lot about their people and unique culture. I've recommended this hotel to friends for its affordability and great tour guide. It's nothing fancy- the real attraction is the natural beauty of the entire island and neighboring isles.

We have stayed at this hotel for about 5 days and I must say that we had a good experience about it. The rooms are spacious, clean and good ambiance. Its near the ocean, so if you have nothing to do, just explore and walk around to the beach which you can also swim into. The staff are helpful with our needs. The breakfast are different everyday even though the selections are limited, it was decent. One minor comment about our dinner, we thought that we have served a raw squid when we had the adobong pusit.
Overall, it was a memorable stay, and its worth recommending.

My family is very happy with our stay. There were 6 of us, and 4 are senior citizens. We stayed in a triple-sharing room in a duplex bungalow with a shared terrace. It was the perfect place to hang-out on our free time especially after dinner for beer and chips. Very near the ocean so the powerful yet soothing sound of the waves is always in the background.

Location: perfect! Very convenient. Sari-sari store 20meters away. Local restaurants within 500m. Cross the street and you're on the beach! Accessible from sideroads and highway.

View: garden from the room and you can view the ocean from the garden!

Staff: genuinely friendly and hospitable

Food in own restaurant: good but serving size is small.

Amenities:
- towels, soap, dental kit, tissue roll
- satellite tv with a few cable and local channels
- daily bottled h20
- disposable slippers
- hair dryer, heavy duty
- closet with clothes hangers (am so happy!)

Plus factors:
- airport transfers via new van (Toyota Hi-ace Commuter van)
- can arrange private tours
- can provide thermos of hot water for your room daily
- has their own veggie garden!

It would be great if they can provide more options for set meal breakfast that is included in the tour package. But overall, we highly recommend the place!

Amboy Hometel provides basic amenities. Simple rooms, air-conditioned, small bathrooms with hot water, TV and cable. Nothing fancy but the service is very friendly and considerate. We had to take breakfast at 5am twice during our 3-night stay and they warmly accommodated us.

We wanted to get bikes to go around the hotel, and they found a way to bring them over. At P50/hour, the bike rentals were really enjoyable!

Great value for money!

The room we stayed in, "sean" family room has a decent wifi. especially in the bed nearest the window! (the farther the bed from the window, the slower the connection is) I guess its because the room is near the "office" area.

It's about 15 mins away from the airport by car non stop. The only nearby establishment is Bernardo's Hotel, where you can find the Casa Napoli Restaurant. though I am not sure what time they close at night. Amboy's own restaurant takes their last order pretty early. 7pm if i remember it right.
