A trip to Batanes is one of my bucket list. Except for wifi not working that time due to a network station tower problem, our stay and tours were a blast! Staff were truly accommodating. Thank you! Will definitely come back. 😊

First, go grab a cup of coffee and then come back, sit down and relax to reading this review. It will be somewhat long yet helpful for you once you book your travel. I must first comment on my excellent booking experiences. I have travelled to the Philippines several times and always book my travel through MDR Tickets to Ride Travel and Tours. Marichu (The owner and CEO) has and is always professional, courteous, and somehow she has an eye for wonderful vacation destinations and or daily excursions. I do not really know how she does it however the locations that she recommends and selects for me just keeps getting better. She actually suggested Batanes 2 years ago however it was placed on the shelf for another time. From 8-11 October 14, Batanes came off the shelf and materialized into the best vacation yet. After our arrival at the airport, our welcome was warm and heartfelt. After about a 10 minute ride, we arrived at Bernardo's Hotel. This is an excellent value for money hotel with the friendliest and helpful staff you will find. Over our 4 day stay we had the pleasure to meet all the staff that also doubled up as receptionist. All of them were individually and collectively very helpful, kind and cheerful and made our stay a memorable one. The hotel is very quiet and the rooms and bathroom are very clean. There is a small but excellent restaurant that compliments the hotel and is literally right next door named Casa Napoli that prepared all of our meals. The food was always prepared to our satisfaction and we never had to wait long for our meals to arrive. When you go there, you must try the pizza. The skies were overcast while we were there but that did not interfere with our breathtaking tours. If you are looking for a party, this is not the place for you, go to Borocay. However if you want to relax and unwind by yourself or with that special someone this is the place. Lastly and the most awesome; If you have ever wondered what it would feel like to live or be in an area where crime is nonexistent then look no further than Batanes. Ahhhhhhh!!! This is our exhale, go get yours.

This was the newest accommodation we found, flat screen LCD TV, inbuilt modern t&b
Has pizza parlor beside it, and ocean is across the road. But far from town proper, need to take tricycle to town. Price will increase on summer time, so better book early.

We enjoyed our stay in this hotel!

We went to Batanes this early September 2014. We chose Bernardo's Hotel among other options primarily because they have generator that can supply lights and fans in case of power failure. We learned only later on that our time of visit is considered the 'little summer' of Batanes.

Hotel premises are constantly kept clean. Rooms are big enough. The two beds we have at room 7 are large and comfortable - and perfect for resting after an exhausting South Batan tour! Bathroom is decent and never ran out of water. Only soap is provided but this is not really a problem for me as I bring my own toiletries. Towels are provided and regularly changed. There's also hot and cold water dispenser provided for the guests.

Service is superb overall. Ate Jing took care of arranging our tours and even our dining options in Basco. Kuya Bernie, our driver/tour guide, drove us safely around North and South Batan and he adjusted to our preferences as tourists. The rest of the staff are always willing to help and will always greet you with a smile. They give a lot of good tips in touring Basco/Batanes and will not pressure you to just eat in their Casa Napoli.

Location is outside Basco but about 5-10 minutes ride away from Basco town proper. We actually chose Bernardo's location because of its proximity to the beach. You get the option to watch the sunset by the beach.

I also think it's a plus that Bernardo's got the Casa Napoli within its compound. They serve good pizza and pasta Bolognese. We traveled as a couple so when we have dinner leftovers, we get to keep the food and they reheat it for us the next day.

Room for improvement: Wi-fi signal during our visit was slow. No wi-fi signal in the rooms and you must go to the lobby to access. Thus, it means a lot to have fast internet connection since you are outside the comforts of the hotel room.

Will definitely stay again at Bernardo's when we return to Batanes.

My Girlfriend Joy and I just came back from 4 nights at this hotel and had a great time. Fresh and new the hotel is in a great location just outside the town of Basco and 50 m from the beach. Other hotels were nearer the town but that doesn't do you much good as there is not much in the town anyway.

The great staff arranged all our trips and everything went without a hitch which is refreshing in the Philippines. The food was great and the Pizza oven is charcoal fired so you can eat even during the many island wide brownouts. On the first day during a brownout we passed a hotel which had a rather noisy generator running, but on the way back we discovered that this was in fact the power station for the whole island,, cute!

Bernardo's is so new it doesn't have a web site yet but you can call the manager Raymond on 09175125346 or Ate Jing 09491449765 You can search Facebook and find them there too.

rates start at P2100 a night inc a nice breakfast of locally caught dried and fired flying fish which I loved.

Booking wise: Smooth and easy booking as all deals are made online (email) and deposit via bank transfer. Very prompt reply with Ms Thea.

Check-in: Though, small miscommunication in pick-up (from Batanes Seaside Lodge instead of from Airport), everything is OK. A private car (van) came to pick us up from the BSL to Bernardos.

Amenities: Make sure to bring your own toiletries. One cute soap and tissue are included in the room rate. No slippers, toothpaste/brush, shampoo, conditioner and lotion (w/c are usually included in hotel amenities). Though, towels are available. No mini ref inside the room.
Room 2 have 1 DOUBLE bed and 1 SINGLE bed. Good enough for 3-4pax. Very spacious room with sitting area also. It has TV and AC of course! TV connection is OK esp if not to windy and rainy. Wi-Fi is also strong for both hotel Wi-Fi and my portable Wi-Fi device. GLOBE signal is stronger than Smart. No chance for Sun signal. There is water dispenser just outside the room.

Restaurant: CASA NAPOLI! Indeed the best Pizza in whole Batanes! Though quite expensive but WORTH every cents! On our first night, we ordered 1 pizza, spaghetti Bolognese & chicken with 1.5lt of Coke and 2 San Mig beers. Our L/O foods are kept in the kitchen refs and reheated to us "automatically" for our breakfast the following day! Such a nice gesture from the staff! Breakfast are also at Napoli. Compared to previous hotel where we stayed, servings at Napoli is like kid size meal only. What I loved in their BF is their Tubho tea (from Sabtang). Sachet of coffee and choco drinks are also available during BF.

Tour: Sabtang tour is booked by Bernardo's also. MAKE SURE NOT TO MISS THIS TOUR! Our tour guide (Jen) is very nice (like all Ivatans). She makes sure that we covered all the tourist spot in Sabtang. BTW, if you were given an option between tricycle and van for Sabtang...choose the VAN! Trust me with this one! Our sumptuous lunch is served on the beach, where I (finally) tasted (and saw live) the famous COCONUT CRAB! BTW, Jen is also good in photography. Thanks a lot Jen! Hope to meet you again in our next trip to Sabtang.

Ms Moncy, thank you for all your assistance during our stay in Bernardos. Hope you had a wonderful vacation in Japan! Until next time...

Thank you for taking time to review us. We appreciate your very kind and candid review. We have improved our room amenities, complete toiletries is now being provided (soap, shampoo, dental kit, room slipper, laundry bag) and hair dryer, electric boiler, and personal refrigerator are available in each room. TV connection is provided by CIGNAL. Since the super typhoon hit us last September 13, 2016, free wifi is no longer available in the hotel. Pay wifi is available at Casa Napoli Dining Hall only and we give priority to our in house guests. Thank you once again for staying with us and we hope to have you back in the near future.

We had a great stay here at Bernardos!
We initially planned to stay at Fundacion Pacita but we find the rates unreasonable so we booked rooms here. The hotel is clean, well maintained, all the staff and crew are courteous.. FOOD especially PIZZA = AWESOME!!

We also booked tours with them and they gave us their Senior Guide kuya jacklord and driver, kuya omar. They are very helpful, and the guide gave us a lot of insights about Batanes. It was my second time in Batanes but I never heard the trivias he mentioned during my first visit/tour with other guide.

Wifi is available only at the lobby but we didn't care that much.

If I visit Batanes again, i will probably stay here! Dios Mamajes!

Bernardo's was very easy to deal with. I had to rebook our trip because of a typhoon. They moved my booking to the next available date without giving me trouble.

They offer airport transfers for free. We stayed there for 4D, 3N and were served breakfast 4 times! Other hotels would've just served 3 meals.

Wifi is only available in the lobby, not in the rooms. But their lobby is quite comfortable so it wasn't much of a hassle to go there to use the internet. The connection was moody at times but then, that's the way it is for most of the island, I think.

They helped us in booking tours around Batanes. Tip: haggle. Don't immediately agree to their rack rates.

Since this hotel is only a year old, the rooms and facilities are still new and clean. Towels are pristinely white and are replaced everyday. They have hot showers. Bring your own toiletries though as only soap is provided. There's a TV in every room.

Casa Napoli serves decent pizza and very good fried chicken. You can order in advance and they'll just call you when your food is ready. Don't worry about leftovers as you can ask them to store your leftover food and serve them warm to you on your next meal.

We had a pleasant stay in this hotel and would definitely recommend it to other tourists.

Thank you ate jing for being the best hostess weve ever encountered on a vacation. Actually everyone in this hotel is commendable. From arrival to departure, never failed to ask whatelse we needed. Arranged most of our dinners and tours. There were minor flaws in billing, i never questioned the bills, but correction was initiated by ate herself. I wouldnt know if she didnt mention (i trust everyone enough not to question, this is batanes anyway - everyone is honest and trustworthy).

To kuya jack, and his partners, who served as our tour guide for 3 whole days, thank you for always ensuring a flawless and comfortable tour. Never failed to put us and our enjoyment in priority over everything.

See you again kuya jack and ate jing feb 2015!

Bernardo's luxury Van, picked us up at Basco Airport and arrived at the place that looks more of mansion house than a hotel, a little over 8AM. After a brief checking-in and tour arrangements, we went up into the room to settle our things and baggages. What a surpirsed! The room is huge and clean with one queen size and a double comfortable beds that could sleep 4 people comfortably. Linens and towels smell fresh and clean. Ahhh! the bathroom is like sparkling brand new with working hot shower. In every hotel that I've experienced, none had served me free breakfast on the day of checked-in. Usually, you can avail of the free morning meal the following day. Not at Bernardo's, we were served a combo breakfast of egg, longanisa, fried rice and unlimited 3 in 1 sachets of coffee, while waiting for the van for 1st day tour. Bernie, the official driver com tour guide is a reliable professional person who can narate to you all facts and places about Batanes. Bernardo's Van rental is 4K for the south and north end tour of Batan Island and we were 5 people, which is cheap comparing to P1.500 per passenger for each end of the island. The staff are courteous and helpful in all aspect of our stay. I can recommend Benardos to any of my friends who are planning a visit to Batanes. A very decent place to stay in Batanes

Thank you for taking time to review us. We offer breakfast from check in to check out because we knew most guest did not had a good meal before travelling, especially that all flights coming in and out of Batanes are scheduled early in the morning. Thank you for the appreciation of the service that we were able to give you and your group. Hoping to have you back in the future if you decide to visit Batanes again.
