This should have been a really special experience and I had been anticipating my stay here for months. First the good things- the rooms are comfortable and the food in the restaurant is adequate. However they are currently in the process of building their snow hotel. What this means is that they run loud and brightly- illuminated snow makers within metres of the igloos- 24 hours a day!!! The motors were loud enough to be heard even with the door closed and bright enough to illuminate the igloo without even having to turn on an internal light. Worse than that, the otherwise cloudless starry skies were obscured by mist from the machines most of the time. Absolutely negated the whole idea of a clear ceiling. There is no phone in the room so any complaint requires a slow and uncomfortable trek through the snow to the reception desk. Not that I should have bothered. They were totally dismissive. After all I'd already paid and had no way of escaping this nightmare. Would I recommend this hotel? Only to a masochist.

Loved our stay at the Glass Igloos in Feb 2022. It was a beautiful property, and staying in a glass igloo was a unique experience we will never forget. It was a bit cramped, but that's expected. Sauna and spa experiences (especially the ice sauna) were very unique and fun. Restaurant was good but not excellent. Service was very friendly and accommodating throughout.

Loved the stay at this wonderful igloo. The room was perfect with perfect view. The aurora alarm system was great which helped us in viewing the northern lights from our igloo. But still we went outside to watch the beautiful phenomenon. The room is small but sufficient enough to keep luggage and jus to move around. The bed was comfy. The room had kettle as well as tea and coffee amenities. The reception staff were really helpful and friendly and they did find us a way out to sort out dinner problems. Having only a fixed menu but still for two days the chef agreed and the reception staff were nice at negotiating and helping us sort out our dinner meal and provide with some thing we loved to have. The driver who helped us with transportation was also good and friendly. A perfect place to be at Rovaneimi to watch the Auroras and yes would definitely come back !!!

Loved our stay in the glass igloo - what an unusual experience and the best way to see the Northern Lights (albeit we were unlucky when we were there and it was cloudy!) We thought the range of activities on offer was really great, even lots of sledges, toboggans and ways to explore the frozen lake for free which was a lot of fun. The dinner in the ice hotel was delicious, so much better than we thought it would be as you're a captive audience but they made it so special. The communication beforehand about all the activities on offer was excellent and very thorough. Would love to go back!

This place is great, and I can definitely recommend staying here. The staff was very nice and serviceminded, the glass igloo was amazing, nice and comfortable with elevation beds and it was very easy to organize our transfers, sauna experience etc. The only "but" for me was the dinners, which we had to pre-book in advance, we ate in both Kota restaurant and the ice restaurant. I think the food was ok, not more, and quite simple, and definitely not worth the high menu prices we paid. It seems the place is benefitting from the fact that there is no way for the guests to go anywhere else to eat. The cocktails in Sky Bar were however excellent!

Thank you for writing us a review and staying over with us! We are glad to hear you found our staff to be helpful and you would recommend staying over with us. Thank you for your feedback on the restaurants. Since we mostly cater for guests staying with us over night, our menus are smaller than in a normal city centre restaurant. We will review your feedback with the team. Hopefully we will meet you again some day!

We stayed in an igloo for two nights. Despite the forecast for clouds, we were treated to two incredible nights of the aurora. Although the temps outside were well below zero, we photographed the aurora from our warm and cozy beds. I researched other igloo hotels and this one has minimal light pollution as well as views of the whole sky from horizon to horizon. Some hotels point straight into the forest, and others only look straight up into the sky. If you are choosing a glass igloo in hopes of catching the aurora, this is it.

Thank you for your lovely review! We are so happy to hear you saw the northern lights twice while staying over with us! You are correct that since we are 25km away from the city, the city's light pollution doesnt affect the views of the lights. We would love to welcome you back to our hotel some day!

Every single day of our stay, the glass igloo ceiling had zero visibility and we could never see the sky due to ice. They advertise that their glass ceilings are heated to melt ice, but that's only if you're lucky. Their glass heater system was rarely turned on and when we requested it to be turned on, our igloo's was broken so it never worked. Neighboring igloos had completely clear glass (except when heavily snowing) so we know our igloo had a problem. I reported the issue to staff every single day but every single time they said the issue is fixed and the ice will melt within a few hours. The ice was never clear during my stay. Had to go outside to see northern lights - might as well have booked a regular hotel and not paid so much extra money. Over email I requested a price adjustment because I did not get to enjoy what I was advertised and had paid thousands for. I was then told that they would not provide any adjustment because their staff said that I declined a change of igloo that they offered in light of the issue. Lie # 1: I was never offered a change of igloo due to the ice problem, but I was offered a change at 2:30am when our AC unit started producing loud violent noises. I declined since they were able to shut off the AC unit and it was 2 in the morning. When I told them this, they accepted it and changed their story to say that it is impossible that there was an issue with the ice not melting, otherwise their staff would have offered a change of igloo. Their staff reports that the problem had been resolved by the repairman and that is why I was not offered a change of room. Lie # 2: They changed their story about me being offered a change of igloo, then also lied that their repairmen reported everything was fine, when I have photo evidence that the glass was never clear throughout my entire stay. They then insinuated that I was not telling the truth about the ice covered ceiling because they claim to not have received any complaints about it from guests before or after my stay. In fact, they held me for a while at breakfast on day 3 of my stay because their repairman found a problem and had to work on fixing it without us in the room. They seem to change their version of events to suit their argument that there was never actually an issue with my igloo. Aside from the email exchange, the staff is very friendly, but for our particular issue they were just unhelpful despite daily requests for a resolution that was never provided. Beautiful place to stay if you're lucky enough to have an igloo that isn't broken (seems like we were not the only ones based on our photos) and if the sky is clear you might see northern lights. Unfortunately we had to go outside in the middle of the cold night to see any northern lights because we had zero visibility from inside the igloo. Room is very small, but cozy and great for 2 people. Also a nice lake access on the property. Lake was frozen and we were able to snowshoe across it which was fun. Ice hotel building was cool to look at but not that interesting otherwise. We didnt eat at the ice restaurant, but that kind of novel thing is sure to be fun if you're into it. Ice bar was open for a very small window during the day so we were never able to make it. Restaurants at this hotel are insanely expensive and dinners require prepayment and a reservation. The food is very mediocre and not worth the cost. 1/10 of the money will get you something more delicious if you eat off site. Breakfast is solid. Sauna experience was ok. Regular sauna is cheaper and more enjoyable than the ice sauna which was cold and short.

Thank you for taking the time to write us a review! As discussed over email, we had offered for you to change the igloo during your stay so we could fix the issue about the glass. We are happy to hear you still found our staff onsite to be helpful and friendly. We have reviewed your feedback with the staff and make sure this would not happen again. I hope you still enjoyed your stay in Lapland!

We booked a package in the snowhotel including a meal and a guided tour. People were very friendly. The snowhotel is obviously cold, but in the sleeping bag it is really fine. If you are too cold, you can sleep in a dormitory which is nice to know in advance. BUT unfortunately the sleeping bags are not for bigger persons (like me). I wasn't cold, but claustrophobic because I couldn't move and I was cramped in the sleeping bag. Sleeping in the dormitory was not an option, because I would still have to use the sleeping bag. They kindly moved as to a glass iglo. We had to pay extra: 129 extra for the glass iglo and 50 extra for the use of the snow hotel (for 10 minutes) = 179 euro extra!! Luckily it was a clear sky with some aurora that night. The food in the Kota was good and the cook is a very pleasant and kind woman.

We visited the hotel as part of a tour they organised, which included transportation, dinner and the usual information. It was the most disorganised tour we’ve ever been on! - When we arrived they split us in two groups and sent half of us for an early dinner at 5pm rather than 7pm, which was a total surprise (an unpleasant one) - The food is mediocre and not worth the price, but you eat it anyway as the ice restaurant is understandably freezing 😄 - We were left on our own until 7pm with no guidance - luckily we went past the ice bar and had a shot, as it’s only open an hour or so a day! Others in the tour missed it entirely which was a shame. - The tour guide was nice but not the best English so it was sometimes difficult to understand him - After we went through the ice rooms, we were again left on our own with no explanation! - Tour guide was meant to let us know when our bus back was ready, but he never did… we just wondered around in -21C and asked confused drivers until we found it! So disappointed, especially given the experience was €240!!!!
