Our stay at Hermitage Bay Resort was absolutely unforgettable. The natural setting of the resort is breathtaking—secluded and peaceful, with no other resorts in sight, which made it feel like our own private paradise. Our beachfront room featured a huge deck with multiple outdoor seating areas, and the outdoor shower was a fantastic touch. Waking up to the unobstructed view of the beach and ocean was a highlight of each day.
One of the most memorable experiences was the romantic dinner we had on the beach to celebrate my husband's birthday. It was a delicious and incredibly private affair, with a beautifully set table and the sound of the waves as the perfect backdrop—it felt like the ultimate intimate dining experience.
The VIP service provided for an expedited customs process and airport arrival. Solange at the front desk was a standout, making us feel welcome right from check-in and throughout our entire stay. The resort’s small size allowed the staff to get to know us by name, creating a friendly and personalized atmosphere. Kyle, the beach attendant, was especially kind and made sure we had everything we needed for a truly relaxing experience.
The nightly sushi at the tree bar was a fun way to meet other guests, and the massages at the spa were top-tier. We also enjoyed the complimentary watersports, especially the private Hobie cat lesson, which was led by an amazing instructor. The new lunch venue with live music or a DJ added a lively element to the resort, which was great for us as younger guests. The evening live entertainment each night kept the vibe upbeat and entertaining.
The food at Hermitage Bay was absolutely delicious, with fresh, flavorful dishes that made every meal a highlight. Lastly, it was fun to spot various superyachts taking advantage of the calm cove; they're choosing this spot because it's absolutely beautiful.
While our experience was nearly flawless, there were a few minor points worth mentioning for feedback. The beach, although secluded, is technically public, and we did encounter an outside beach vendor who was loudly talking on a cell phone right next to our chaise lounges. This was unusual, given the absolute privacy the loungers otherwise provided. When we politely asked the vendor to move, she was very hostile, so it might be worth the resort considering improved security or a better way to handle such situations. Additionally, while the resort is adults-only, the owner's children were present during our visit. While they were well-behaved, it was a little surprising to see children in what is otherwise an adults-only environment.
Another suggestion would be to offer food service at the pool and beach areas. While drinks were available pool and beachside, it was a bit unusual compared to other luxury resorts not to have food service in these spots.
Despite these minor points, we would absolutely return to Hermitage Bay again and again. The staff, the food, and the overall serene atmosphere made for a perfect getaway. We can’t wait to come back!

Dear Elliot, Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We absolutely loved the beautiful photos you shared. Your words and images truly brought your experience to life, capturing the peace and serenity of Hermitage Bay. We appreciate your feedback on our exciting new updates: the expanded deck in the Beachfront suites, fresh sushi daily at our Tree Top Bar, and the lively entertainment and lunch options at our new restaurant, The Beach Club. While we are grateful for your praise, we also value your insights regarding areas for improvement. Although Hermitage Bay is highly secluded, all beaches remain public. So, we strive to minimize any disruptions by keeping children away from the main resort area. Though the incidents involving vendors and children are rare, please rest assured that our management team is committed to addressing these issues to ensure that nothing detracts from the exceptional experience we aim to provide. We will be sure to share your compliments with our team, and I know that Solange and Kyle will be honored to hear that they were mentioned for their outstanding service. We cannot wait to welcome you back again soon! Warm regards, The Hermitage Bay Team

As far as we are concerned, there is no place in the world better than Hermitage Bay. We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary on May 31, 2024. The reason we chose Hermitage Bay for this celebration is because we spent our honeymoon there 10 years ago. We had such a special, amazing trip that we promised ourselves we would return. I am so glad that we did; I can't imagine a more special celebration than the one we had. From the moment we stepped out of the airport and was greeted by the staff driver, every single staff person made us feel like we were on the most special trip of our lives. Actually, to be honest that feeling started the minute we booked and received a personalized, warm, and thorough email preparing us for our stay. The team is truly a master class in customer service.
There are a lot of beautiful, luxurious places in the world but Hermitage Bay stands out because of the setting, the food, and especially the staff. We love that the setting is low key but extremely high quality. We love that it exists in the natural environment and uses food from its own garden. The chef is phenomenal. I'm not a foodie, but I was taking pictures of my food at meals and looking forward to every opportunity to eat. The live music, the spa, and the daily Pilates and yoga take things to the next level. Above all, the staff make the experience uniquely special. Our connections with them made our trip what it was. We reconnected with several staff who were there 10 years ago for our honeymoon and met new staff who felt like family by the time we left. Whatever Hermitage Bay is doing to recruit and nurture this caliber of staff, they are doing it right!

Finding enough superlatives to describe Hermitage Bay is difficult other than to say this is a slice of paradise. Its supreme location with a long white sandy beach against a spectacular hillside back drop of lush greenery makes for a calm and peaceful ambience.
From the moment of arrival to departure your stay is made to be etched in the memory. The welcome is exceptional and you are made to feel part of the very special Hermitage family. The level of service is unique in so much that not only is your every need and wish taken care of but it is overlaid with each and every member of staff's warmth and individual personality.
Since our previous visit the new beach club is a fabulous venue for lunch. The food is excellent with the sharing platter for starters, a great way to wake those taste buds with incredile flavours. Afternoon sushi, which the chef creates in front of you, is another innovative enhancement at the Tree bar. Overall the food is faultless with a wide choice and the knowledge that the onsite organic kitchen garden has provided much of the food on your plate.
The accommodation is beautiful The suites are both spacious and luxurious. Waking to either spectacular landscape views or the sea lapping against that white sandy beach is the most relaxing, mindful and wonderful experience.
Thank you Hermitage Bay for a truly unforgetable stay.

My husband and I just visited hermitage bay for a 6 day honeymoon and we will absolutely be going back!! The staff are the kindest and most helpful people I have ever met as well as the owner himself! We were treated like royalty for the entire week and couldn’t stop talking about how sweet all of the employees were- they felt more like friends to us than anything else! We also stayed in one of their many fabulous rooms that sat on a hill so we had an incredible view of the beautiful bay which we enjoyed while swimming in our private pool! The whole place is just gorgeous and I miss it already. I also miss the INCREDIBLE food!!!! We were so pleasantly surprised by every single meal as they were all absolutely delicious- especially the sushi!!! I could go on and on about this place but you just have to experience it to understand how wonderful it actually is.

We just returned from our fifth stay (2008, 2009, 2018, 2020) at Hermitage Bay. The resort is nothing short of spectacular! We had the good fortune to stay in one of the recently refurbished beachfront cottages and the decor is now light and airy which contributes to a serene and calm vibe. The beachfront cottage deck area has been recently expanded and we loved enjoying the extra space, particularly when watching the many beautiful sunsets. The common areas have also been upgraded with lighter woods and brighter fabrics and we loved the new beach bar addition. The food was excellent as usual and we loved having the option of choosing from the room service menu when we wanted something lighter for lunch. We learned that another beachfront restaurant is in the works and the spa will be relocated closer to the sea which we believe will be wonderful additions to the resort. The staff continues to set Hermitage Bay apart from other places we’ve visited in the Caribbean and we look forward to returning in 2025.

Hermitage Bay is one of the most beautiful places I have been to. We had the time of our lives! It is the perfect place to just relax like we wanted to. If you're looking to party or be in an overly populated, all-inclusive, this is not your place.
Food & drinks: Some of the most amazing food we've ever had. We're both foodies and the variety, quality, and creativity in this food was absolutely incredible. Nothing like any other all inclusive resort I've been to. In fact, we usually ended up eating the "bar snacks" (served from 3-6 every day) because even those were amazing! The drinks were also to die for with good "house" liquor and creativity of lots of fun ones! The old fashion rum punch that was not on the menu was our fav!
Room & grounds: The room was absolutely stunning. It was made so you could basically open the whole thing up, which we loved to do in the mornings! But when you wanted to close up, like in the evening, the room AC was very powerful and cooled the room quick, which was nice! The outdoor shower was such a unique touch, as well. We loved the plunge pool addition, but I will say, we were barely in the room so we didn't use it nearly as much as we thought! Most mornings we would sleep in and head straight to breakfast and then loved hanging down by the beach, pool or at the bar talking with other visitors. The hillside pool rooms are on a very steep hill, but they will take you to and from with a golf cart at any time! There was always someone available. They also had live music every night, which we loved!
Excursions & activities: We did end up going to St. John's for a couple of hours and they made this super easy. I called down to the front desk to ask the process and they said just give us 30 minutes heads up and we will get a car. So we did that and were able to charge to the room! We also did a small boat tour, about 45 minutes, which was included in the water sports at Hermitage. Derrick was amazing and it was fun to see the neighboring areas! We also did end up getting couples massages on my birthday and the spa experience was incredible. Would definitely go back.
Hospitality: I cannot say enough good things about the staff. My husband and I joked that they are robots because they are always happy and so accommodating. Even though there is a 10% tip included in the price, we additionally tipped throughout the trip because we were so appreciative of everyone there. They went above and beyond for my birthday and even had the live entertainment sing me a funny birthday song at dinner! They also gave us a complimentary room service champagne breakfast so we were able to enjoy that from our balcony one morning!
I filtered the bad reviews to see how there could possibly be any. If you are unhappy at Hermitage Bay, you are just an unhappy person and that's the truth. As the owner of a business, I can see that the owner has gone above and beyond to make this place a sanctuary. If you need any accommodating, I promise they will do it if you give them the chance. Or maybe just feel lucky that you're in such a beautiful place.
This will definitely not be our last time there.

We visited in Feb and again in March. When we arrived 6 weeks apart and we were excitedly greeted by so many people. As each person said, " Welcome Home", it truly felt that we had come home. All 5 times at Hermitage Bay have left us only wanting more. Going to a hotel where people know your name really makes the experience special. The fact that over the last 4 years the same staff has been there is a testimony to their love of their job. It is also remarkable that most of the staff are Antiguan and so proud of their country.
We want to mention:
Alicia and her staff greeting us at the front desk
Jamal, Clinton, Shelly Ann, Stoney, Simone and Kushone providing a fun, friendly bar atmosphere.
Kyle and Jess smiling everyday catering to our beach needs.
Jamila, Jillian, Patricia, Dede, Sandy, Elizabeth Shamar, Zoe, Jamie, Shanteica and everyone working the dining room knew our preferences, smiled while serving us, welcomed us daily and made enjoying the delicious food a pleasure.
Desroy and Sugar head up a wonderful kitchen staff and excited us with well prepared meals. They even prepared Pepper pot for our trip to the airport.
Dawn, Rosie, Natasha and all the cleaning crew keep all areas maintained.
While we could not name everyone, it is clear that the staff make our experience unique. We have never been to a place where there is a collective effort to make the guest experience great.
Here are some observations:
A reason we love HB is that it is small, personable, and low-key providing high end service without pretense. It is amazing knowing how many guests have been multiple times. We all agree in what keeps us coming back year after year. We hope the new ownership can keep that vibe alive.
We like that the facilities are being updated and modernized. The new decor (and there is a lot) is smart and sophisticated.
We met the owner and he told us of some of the upgrades. He was certainly passionate about the hotel. We hope this will not take away from the overall charm and peacefulness of HB or bring in "traffic and noise" from the new beach restaurant.
We cannot wait to be "home" again and please thank everyone for our wonderful 10 days.

Good things: service from front desk staff (Solange especially) is amazing. George at the pool is nice and cool as well. I can see they are passionate about the job. Room service is responsive.
Food from dinner is on the higher end. The barbecue day is the highlight for our lunch.
Complimentary activities is the highlight of the stay. The boat tour and snorkelling is the most memorable experience at hermitage bay. The beach and mountain is stunning.
The bad: The restaurant stuff is sloppy at service. It looks like they are reluctant to provide Service. If you want more than one main course, they give you a weird look. No smile, no energy. The service took really long. It takes over 2 hours on each meal service. Restaurant stuff was the worst part of the stay.
Mosquitos was an issue for the stay. Got dozens of bits during our stay. Everything at the hotel is open air, which means you are exposed to mosquitos while you eating. There are mosquitos in room as well.
General menu for Lunch and breakfast is basic and limited for a high end property. The taste is only at acceptable level.
The beach is rocky. May need a water-shoes.
We stayed at ocean front suite. The design is basic. The toilet is a open area adjoining with the bedrooms. No glass door or divider. It literally like putting a toilet in the bedroom. No indoor shower. AC is not strong enough for the whole suite. Only covers the bed part.

Dear Camper07043598038, Thank you for sharing this feedback from your recent stay with us. At Hermitage Bay, as countless reviews can attest - our restaurant service and dining options are highly rated by many of our guests, so we are concerned that this was not the case for you. We understand that taste and preferences vary widely, so our Chefs would have been delighted to craft dishes best suited to your palate. We wish you had expressed these points to our Team, as they would have been addressed immediately to enhance your stay. We want to expand on a few points from your review: the rocks you refer to are a vast array of seashells that wash ashore based on the tide. There are suite options where the small opening for the bathroom is enclosed. All our rooms have a private outdoor shower facing the ocean in addition to the oversized tubs in the suites. As in any tropical climate, mosquitoes are an integral part of our ecosystem, so it is difficult to avoid them altogether. We work hard to minimize the effects by consulting with entomologists to reduce breeding, incorporating plants that act as deterrents, and fogging the property every evening with eco-friendly spray. OFF is provided in each suite, and at turndown, we untie the netting around the bed to keep out any mosquitoes that have made their way in. We are happy that you enjoyed many aspects of the Hermitage Bay experience, such as the fantastic service from many of our team members, the room service, the Beachside BBQ, and the sightseeing and snorkeling boat ride tours we offer daily. Thank you again for taking the time to write this review. It gives us the opportunity and insights needed to enhance our services for your future stay if you decide to visit us again. Warm regards, The Hermitage Bay Team

You know your fantasy beach vacation? The one that involves crystal clear turquoise waters, white sandy beaches, the sense of being castaway/marooned in 6-star comfort? The one where you don’t need a wallet or credit card to have your every wish met, where all your meals and drinks are not only included but top shelf, where you walk a few feet from your amazing front porch and your toes are in those blue waters, where you never get out of a bathing suit unless you choose to dress for dinner, and given the caliber of the cuisine, you feel the desire to not just dress but supplicate at the feet of the chef—Desroy Spence—who is unarguably the most creative, imaginative and visionary chef not only of the Caribbean but Of Europe and. N. America as well and is providing you three multi-course meals per day and a menu he creates each morning when he wakes up, based simply on where his culinary genius leads him depending on what is freshly caught and freshly grown? The fantasy vacation where you can eat said meals by candlelight right on the sand or have them delivered to your extraordinary cottage and never see another human? The dream vacation where each morning a perfect chaise covered with soft towels and neck rolls are set up just for you and where a young man periodically strolls down the beach to you bearing skewers of fresh fruit and ice water and asking what he can get for you to make you the teensiest bit happier? Imagine a place where the ratio of staff to guests is about 6:1 and where everyone who takes care of you is both completely unobtrusive but deeply attentive to your every comfort, and every member of staff knows your name, remembers what you like to drink, how you take your coffee, where you like to sit. (The general manager here, Ms Rachel Brown, makes fantasy beaching look effortless, but she runs an impeccably tight ship and no detail is too small to escape her careful attention.) In your own cottage you can imagine you are completely alone and barely see another soul. Or you can allow the expert staff to take you out to snorkle the reefs or set you up on a paddle board or arrange to get you a jet ski; you can do yoga or have extraordinary spa treatments or just sit under a palm tree with the smell of frangiapani wafting around you and the best bespoke mojitos in the islands brought to all afternoon.
Please please don’t go here. It is unspoiled paradise. It is tiny, authentic, luxurious, bespoke to the max, and I am terrified people will discover what an extraordinary jewel HB is and I will no longer be able to get a reservation.
I went in Jan/Feb of 2024. On the flight back to California I booked my return in May. I am already plotting ow to afford to return again in the Fall.

Hello Annielou,
There is no specific dress code, but we ask that guests avoid dining in bathing suits without some form of cover-up. We recommend resort casual attire for dinner. For men, this could include khaki shorts and a button-down shirt. Women often opt for sundresses or linen pants. We suggest wearing flat shoes, as high heels can be loud and attract attention in our tranquil setting. Additionally, not all walkways are paved, and some hillside steps are uneven, making it challenging to navigate in heels. Embrace a ‘barefoot luxury’ theme, and you’ll fit right in.
Hello Maribeth,
You have discovered the perfect place at Hermitage Bay! We provide entertainment each night, featuring steelpan performances, live bands, and acoustic guitar and keyboard players. The entertainment runs from 7:30 PM to 10:30 PM, and our bars are open from 10:00 AM to 11:30 PM.

Hi Stephanie
Yes lots of people hire cars and go off the property or take a taxi to tour the island. We have pretty much all alcoholic beverages and if you have a particular preference you can let us know in advance and we can see if we can get hold of it on the island for you and at the same time will let you know whether there would be an extra cost or whether its part of our all-inclusive offering.
