We stayed at Bougainvillea for 16 nights with our 2 young children (2&4) and had a great time! We were told not to stay on the South Coast due to the waves but it was absolutely fine and we had no issues at all. If anything it was not rough and ideal for families. The staff certainly make this place! All so nice, caring and friendly :) A big shout out to Sonia, Vivian & Shanice at the pool bar, Elsbeth and the team in Calabash, Natasha, Rachel and the team at the front desk, Maggie & Miranda at Guest Services, the activities guys, our fab babysitter Rachan (arranged through the hotel) and Wayne our taxi driver for the whole of our stay! We had a 1-bed deluxe suite which was perfect as we had the sofa bed our 4 year old used and plenty of space in the bedroom for a cot. The kitchen was great esp with the kids, and the balcony had fab views across the pools and sea view. All the rooms have a sea view but I would suggest opting for the left side of the hotel (as you look at the sea) as it has does have a better view. We were in room 307 on the 2nd floor which was fine even though there are no lifts. Highly recommend this hotel. So many people staying there had stayed many times before. We will be back :) Thanks all for maki g our stay so great!…
Returned to this wonderful hotel after covid restrictions had meant we couldn’t travel. We enjoyed it as much if not more than we had previously. The hotel staff are more than welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for a wonderful holiday and hope to see you next year or sooner.
We've visited Barbados for a number of years and based ourselves all over the island. The South, St Lawrence however is our favoured area. For six years before Covid we believed we had found our perfect spot in Oceans 2 however as we were informed on our last visit the Hotel after its plush extension has now become All Inclusive. A1 doesn't interest us as we prefer to eat out most evenings either relaxed, chilling at one of the many shacks or dining at one of the gorgeous restaurants the island has on offer. After doing our homework and taking a look at the other hotels around the same area we came across Bougainvillea which looked perfect and after our visit at the end of April we we're thrilled that we'd made the right choice and found our 'new little haven' in Bim. On arrival we we're greeted with a friendly smile and a rum punch 'always appreciated'. A slight problem with our room as we had requested a kingsize bed not twins. This wasn't a problem and we we're moved within minutes. Our room was clean, spacious with a fully equipped kitchen, modern bathroom and efficient air conditioning throughout, we were very comfortable. We made a reservation for dinner and made the pool side bar just in time for Happy Hour. Sonia and Shanice made us very welcome along with the other guests, we we're made to feel right at home which continued throughout our stay. The hotel is on a lovely stretch of beach which we walked numerous times a day. The pools were refreshing and surrounded by beautiful flowers and shrubs tended to daily. We never had a problem getting a sunbed either by the pool or on the beach and as the hotel is compact we got to know most people within a couple of days which made the atmosphere throughout the hotel relaxed and friendly. We ate in the restaurant for lunch a number of times and always enjoyed the choice and quality. All the staff had a smile and warm greeting it was a pleasure to be in their acquaintance. Sonia, Shanice, Vivian and the lovely Lisbeth in the restaurant made our stay that little bit extra special, thank you all. We cannot wait to return in the not too distant future.…
First time in Barbados with brother and family although they have stayed here before. The reception staff were welcoming and made every effort to help make the stay enjoyable. My sister in law and myself celebrated our birthday while there and were made to feel quite special with the greetings and balloons. Mothers Day lunch was quite a treat and made for a lovely afternoon. The concierge,Che-Amor was so helpful in organising a few trips making sure we were celebrating. The right place at the right time. The room was lovely and clean and all the staff kept the hotel and grounds beautifully groomed My only niggle was on our last night having dinner at Calabash. The bar manager of the evening, Roxanne I believe was her name, was more than a little frosty starting with making us feel bad for not making a booking. I would understand if they had been anywhere nearly full but not the case. My niece who is 12 years of age requested the kids menu only to be told she was too old so couldn’t have it despite it never being a problem any other occasion when eating there. Her mum did explain this and eventually, very reluctantly, my niece was allowed the said menu but felt bad about the whole event. This, as I said, happened on our final evening which left a bit of a bad taste. I would reiterate that everyone else we met was warm and welcoming. Special thanks to Trevor our taxi driver for our day out exploring the island, a font of knowledge. The food was fresh and tasty in Calabash and Deia Beach next door where the cocktails were the best.…
Our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 teens) loved our stay at Bouganvillea at the end of April. From the moment we arrived after a short cab ride from the airport, we were in love with the place. Although our room wasn't quite ready, they stored our bags for us while we got some lunch and hung out by the pool We had 2 1-bedroom suites with kitchenettes and living areas, both of which were well outfitted and newly decorated and refreshed. We didn't actually need all of the space we had, and a family of 4 would be comfortable in one suite if the kids could share a pull-out bed, or could down-size to the smaller room and still have plenty of space. Be aware that there are no elevators, so if mobility is an issue, request a ground floor room. Rooms include lovely toiletries and robes and plenty of storage space. The kitchen has basic necessities, including a kettle and coffee maker. The beach is soft sand and pleasant for walking without shoes. I found the waves a bit rough but am admittedly not a strong ocean swimmer. The kids were in the water much more. Pools are clean, pretty, and the perfect temperature to refresh but not freeze. There is a swim-up bar and a wading pool for the little ones. There are kayaks, SUPs and a catamaran available through the watersports desk. We had continental breakfast included, and most days just ate that, though there are eggs and hot options available for a small additional fee. Breakfast changed daily and included fruit, pastries, cereals, yogurt and ham or smoked salmon (depending on the day) and cheese, as well as coffee, tea or hot cocoa. Reservations were required but were not a problem to get (this might be a Covid thing). We had dinner at the hotel twice, once for Thai night, and once with their regular menu, and both were wonderful. I recommend going next door to Deia Beach Bar for a nice lunch and cocktails. There is another pool over there that is connected to Bouganvillea that is more geared to swimming laps than the lagoon pool. If you walk down the beach past Sandals toward the Dover Beach Hotel, you'll find the footpath to go to the Dover Market, where you can pick up basic food, snacks, juices and of course rum/Banks beer. This is about a 15 minute stroll or an easy cab ride. You can also walk this way to St. Lawrence Gap restaurants for lunch. While it is probably safe at night, we opted for the inexpensive cab ride into the Gap for dinners out (lots of choices at different price points - do have the hotel make reservations for you). The staff really make a difference here -- from the front desk to the restaurant, bar, watersports, housekeeping and landscapers, everyone we encountered was friendly, helpful and nice. We loved the afternoon happy hour at the pool bar for rum punches/juices, and our every need was met with ease. We never had trouble finding sunbeds at the pool or beach no matter the time of day. This hotel is quiet and beautiful, and not a spot for late-night partying. There were families with kids of all ages, and our teenagers loved it. We've already booked our return trip in December!…
