If you can get past how much money you’re spending to sleep in a tent without electricity, this is a really magical spot. We stayed for one night on our way to visit the Grand Canyon and enjoyed our stay. The lodge and common areas are designed to encourage guest interaction and we enjoyed cocktails under the stars at the fire pit. It was cool at night so definitely pack more than you think you’ll need. Overall a very neat experience and well executed pop up hotel.
My partner and I had a memorable experience at Under Canvas - Grand Canyon. We had dinner at the main tent restaurant and the food options were healthy and they had vegan options. It was so nice listening to the live music in the tent while eating dinner and they even had board games for entertainment. No wifi, so that you have that authentic camping experience. It was a little cold for us to sit by the firepits after dinner, but they had complimentary smores. Free drip coffee and tea throughout the stay to keep us warm! Our fire went out at 2am in 20 degree weather. Be prepared to feed the fire every 1.5-2 hours if you want a toasty tent! We were struggling with our fire and didn't have a starter, but one of the staff came by our tent at 2:30am and started it for us. Great service! It was cool to hear the coyotes at night howling at the moon and the bedding was very warm. The breakfast options were my favorite meal and I also did a complimentary morning yoga class. I would definitely stay again, now that I know what to expect. We didn't have a private bath, but we would get one next time.…
Our stay at Under Canvas Grand Canyon was a surprise for my wife's birthday. On line it looked very interesting and the review from Leisure and Travel led me to believe it would be a "one of a kind" luxury experience and wonderful surprise for my wife. That was not the case . Upon arrival, the staff were friendly and helpful. We got checked in an headed to our tent cabin. Once we unzipped the entrance we were greeted with a horrible smoke smell. It was so strong that it was unbearable. The inside of the tent cabin did not look clean and the bed looked like it had been hastily made. At this point we thought we could tough it out but the smell was to overwhelming. We reported the smell to the staff in the lobby and we were taken to two other cabins and they smelled just as bad. The manager took us to a third cabin which was a suite and to no surprise the smoke smell was as just as bad. We informed the manager that we could not stay there as the resort was not as advertised on-line. We were only offered a 50% refund and reminded several times of their cancellation policy. I thought this was unfair as we did not cancel but excepted anyway as this stay was very expensive. We drove to Flagstaff and got a hotel room for the night as the drive home was lengthy. Please be aware that there is zero luxury at this "resort" with a tent cabin that smelled like a burnt down house.…
Spectacular accommodations! Knowledge, incredible staff, wonderful food and fantastic drinks Nightly s’mores and music. I recommend a stargazer tent…unbelievable. The Milky Way was glowing. Glamping at its best in the Grand Canyon.
We loved our stay here - the perfect combination of creature comfort and proximity to nature. The bed was very comfortable, the tent luxurious enough to just hang out in, and all of the staff were friendly and attentive. We especially enjoyed the evening music (solo guitarist) and smores, and morning yoga. The food was very good - not fancy, but definitely acceptable (there are no other choices nearby). It was very nice having our own bathroom within the tent, although you get the camp feel as the water has to be held on with one hand while you shower. The wood stove heats up the tent, and we turned it off for the night, but we ended up firing it up again at 4am as it was cold! (We stayed in early October, near the end of the season). They run excursions to the Grand Canyon, although we did not participate as we stayed the following two nights within the park.…
Loved - loved - loved this experience! We celebrated an anniversary here and the team made us feel welcome. We rented one of the star gazers and it did not disappoint. Our stay had sunshine, one of the most amazing sunsets and a unique 'rolling thunder storm' for hours. When all quited down we enjoyed stargazing in our tent. We will be back 100%!
We had booked a trip to the Grand Canyon but unfortunately had to cancel our whole trip. We were able to cancel all other reservations but not this one: they have a strict 30-day cancellation policy, meaning that you get absolutely nothing back if you cancel 29 days or less from your booking. I understand a few days or maybe a week, but 30 days is ridiculous -- I've never seen anything that long. This was also by far our most expensive night during the trip, so it was not a pleasant surprise to lose it all. I did ask if they could give even 50% back but the answer was No. I also asked to postpone the trip for next spring (they are closed for winter), but the answer again was No.
Our stay at Under Canvas Grand Canyon exceeded our expectations. Checkin was easy and the staff were friendly and informative. The tent was roomy and clean. Bed very comfortable, glad we upgraded to have the shower and toilet in our tent. Sunset and stars at night and desert sunrise were amazing! Restaurant good, fire pits nice, 24/7 coffee great! Will definitely stay at an under canvas location again.
Check in experience is great. The staffs are helpful and friendly. Clear instruction to guide us to the camp. The camp has a comfort bed. My arrival date is rainy and fall to 6C, so it is cold. The shower has hot water, but only last for 1 minute every time. No experience for me to set the camp fire. But the staff assist me a lot and finally i have a warm camp interior. The breakfast and dinner are nice, or even excess my expectation...tasty. The check out experience is great as well...quick and easy. The camp site is about 50 minutes drive from the Grand Canyon visitor centre or major "places to visit".
We loved our experience at Under Canvas! The staff made our honeymoon very special and everyone was so friendly and helpful. We stayed in a stargazer tent - be ready to stay up late cause the views were amazing! Will be returning to an Under Canvas soon.
