Quinta do Furao is in a beautiful location on the northeast side of the island. Our room had a gorgeous view overlooking the cliffs, ocean, and vineyards (best to get a top floor room). The property is well situated for day trips to a number of scenic locations, fantastic levada walks, and hiking. It was about a 40 min ride from the airport. The reception staff recommended a wonderful taxi service for transport to/from trailheads or sightseeing. There were both indoor and outdoor pools. We were so busy on excursions that we didn't take time to lounge, but they were well frequented. The food and service at both breakfast and dinner restaurants were great. Dinner was served outdoors on a terrace with view overlooking the cliffs, or inside if preferred, although everyone was on the terrace. Breakfast was offered during one of three time slots (due to Covid and desire to distance) and was an incredible buffet of absolutely anything you could want, hot and cold. We were happy to eat every meal at the hotel during our three night stay. Having never visited Madeira before, we weren't sure how much time to spend in each location, but we certainly could have spent at least a couple of more days here. A car would be handy if just sightseeing, but hiring a taxi was really convenient when starting hikes in one location, and ending in another. We thoroughly enjoyed sipping local wines in the bar before dinner. There was a hotel activity sheet with daily or weekly events, including wine tasting on site. If not offered on days when you visit, you can ask to arrange it. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the grounds well tended. Quinta do Furao was within 30-40 mins walking distance one-way of the town of Santana, which was worthwhile seeing. I would certainly recommend the hotel and would stay again if returning to Madeira.

We spent to nights in the property. The hotel is located in a rural mountain area and is presented in a very appropriate rustic but elegant style . Check in was very efficiently dealt with by Sonia who welcomed us in a very friendly manner this is only a four star hotel so there are not any baggage porters but the hotel is not large and there is an elevator so this is not an issue . The room was spacious and well appointed , reflecting the general rustic but elegant style of the hotel , the bathroom however was 21st century chic with good quality towels pump action toiletries , robes , hairdryer etc.The other facilities in the room were as expected , connectivity , linen sleep quality were also excellent .There is a complimentary breakfast which is adequate and appropriate to this price point , service is very pleasant and efficient.Other facilities include two pools and a rather down at heel gym with a few antiquated machines and broken hand weights pushed into a corner by the indoor pool indeed this was the only drawback for us as the rest of this hotel package is superb particularly their restaurant for dinner which is in a completely different league to the breakfast restaurant offering a very comprehensive quality menu but needless to say is at an additional cost but even so is very good value.Finally the staff are absolutely superb especially Jessica and Sonia on reception and we enjoyed several very pleasant conversations with both . in short we loved this hotel and would definitely return if in the area.

This place felt like a home away from home: cozy and quiet, we felt totally relaxed. The location is perfect to explore the area (hiking trails, nature,..) or for a day trip to Funchal. Our room was clean and really comfortable, the view from the balcony was absolutely breathtaking. Everyone working here was so helpful and friendly at all times! Breakfast had a lot of choices for everyone and everything fresh (juices, fruits, eggs, pancakes, bread & pastries, muesli etc.). Dinner was really delicious too, we were looking forward to it every night. We can recommend this place to everyone traveling to Madeira, we've spent an amazing week (half-board) here and can't wait to come back ASAP!

We spent a lovely time at the Quinta three years ago and felt that for another Madeira holiday it is the best place to go to. We never regretted our decision! Located high above the cliffs with a breathtaking view of the landscape from sunrise over the sea in the east to sunset behind the mountains every minute was worthwhile. Breakfast was served with a wide range of varieties. We were half boarders and every dinner was special. My husband needs a gluten and lactose free diet, and whenever possible the menu was adapted to meet his needs, so also for him dining was a pleasant, carefree experience. The rooms have all the necessary facilities like kettle, minibar and safe, and there are bathrobes, slippers, extra large bath towels etc. In theory it is a non-smoking hotel, but not all the guests respect this and smoke on their balconies, which can be annoying in the new annex because the balconies are right next to each other. The ladies at the reception were very helpful solving the problem. The spa is on the smaller side, but fully equipped and kept in good condition. Everybody did their utmost to make the holiday an unforgettable experience, and it is impossible to name individual staff because I would have to list everybody. We were worried with the recently built annex the atmosphere would have become more anonymous, but our fears were completely unfounded, it was the same family atmosphere we enjoyed previously. We cannot think of a better place to stay on a visit to Madeira!

We are currently moving around Madeira staying at different hotels whilst working remotely, so I will be writing reviews of each of them (along with restaurants) as we go. We stayed here for six nights to visit the north of the island to do some hiking.
Good Points:
Excellent WIFI connection The bedrooms appear to be recently refurbished and finished to a high standard. The Nespresso coffee machine along with capsules in the room is a really lovely touch. The view is breathtaking. There is a sauna that is in use, although it was fully booked, so we were unable to use it. This is the only hotel so far that has opened its sauna. It is cleaned between bookings. There is a large warm open fire in the lobby and plenty of seating to sit and enjoy. Good location to enjoy some great hikes. Friendly staff. Competitive price.
Mixed Thoughts:
The restaurant. The steaks and scabbard fish were beautifully cooked and the apple tart and chocolate soufflé are delicious. However, outside of these, the food was quite average and overpriced.
Negative Points:
There is no air conditioning in the room. This is peculiar for a recently renovated hotel. We stayed in November and had to ask for a fan for the room. The shower temperature is inconsistent and can get very hot - I jumped out several times. The 'gym' is alongside the indoor pool and very basic. Four cardio machines and a handful of weights. It feels as though the hotel is aiming to create a spa vibe, however, with children jumping in and out of the indoor pool, this vibe is ruined. There are quite a few flies and due to the doors being open you will find these landing on food at breakfast. Due to being a good hour walk from the main town of Santana and a captive audience, I feel the hotel exploits this in its prices. It is 4.95 euros for a large bottle of water and 6 euros for a glass of wine. We pay half these prices in Funchal and for better quality wine!
Overall a mixed review.

The hotel is beautiful and have lovely gardens. The staff is exceptionally friendly and available. The breakfast is excellent, with a lot of good things to taste. My 2nd visit to this peace of heaven. Booked 2 nights on half board basis. From the moment you arrived you feel the warm welcome, even though we are living very difficult times, however, the staff is the most pleasant you can experience. Sónia from the front desk has given us a warm welcome, such as an early check in. The room is extremely clean and comfortable, lovely balcony overlooking the sea and the same time the lovely landscape from Madeira. The dinner on half board (3 courses meal) is a real plus, after a zen day, you can profit a lovely meal. Food is really tasty, local, and the staff at the restaurant is very helpful, informative and at the same time discreet on their tasks. The breakfast is a masterpiece!!! A real way to start your day, from a wide selection of cereals, teas, breads, local pastry, cheese, fruits,jams....and a show cooking. All the staff is a real credit to this amazing hotel!!! Internal and exterior pools are another delight Do not miss it!

The hotel has a perfect breakfast. The lunch and dinner are good. I like the take-away breakfast. The exterior pool is small but the interior pool is big enougt for a family to swim. Around the hotel are beautiful landscapes. The elevator is noisy but dont worry because it works. The normal rooms are a bit small for 3 person(1 kid, 2 adults). The suites are a lot bigger.I recomend this hotel for everyone who wants a vacation in madeira.

That was amazing experience. Probably one of the bests hotels we’ve ever been. It’s wonderfully placed, the view from the window and the terrace is breathtaking. It’s 40 minutes walk to Santana town, where you can see traditional Santana’s cottages and have lunch in little bars and restaurants. Breakfasts in the hotel are amazing, they use local products, great quality, everything is absolutely delicious. Their restaurant with the view serves also great food, I especially recommend the duck breast. The staff in the hotel is super nice and kind. They always help you with the smile on their face. You can feel like a special guest everyday. I wish every hotel to have people like these here in Quinta do Furao. In the hotel there is everything what you need, the outdoor pool with amazing view, the indoor pool ( you also can see mountains from here), jacuzzi, sauna, comfortable lobby with piano and life music. Rooms are big and cosy. We had a big bath which was great. There also was a balcony with chairs and little table where we could admire sunrise each morning. Bedsheets were comfy and soft, as well as bathrobes and the towels. We are absolutely amazed with this place and would love to come back soon. Thank you Quinta do Furao, that was amazing holiday!

We always go back to Quinta do Furão as often as we can. The kids love it, it is a perfect place not only for family but for couples, single visitors or digital nomads. The scenery is breathtaking, the hotel has been recently refurbished and they added extra rooms and an incredible and most Instagramable infinity pool in the middle of the vineyards with views to the see and the cliffs. The excellent brunch gets you pumped to go walking levadas and the restaurant has courses that waters your mouth together with a fantastic view. Definitely one of my favourite places to stay in for a few days!

First of all we want to thank your interest in Quinta do Furão.
Concerning to your question we have two bars in our hotel. One is located in the hotel building, is open until 11:00 pm and we have the following entertainment:
Mondays: Piano night from 8:30 pm
Wendsdays: Live Music from 8:30 pm
And there's one next to our restaurant also.

It is not a long walk but there are no really level walks in Madeira so be prepared for some uphill and downhill. But nothing steep (and this is from someone who is not that great with heights)
