The Casa da Farmacia is a building up tourism housing in rural areas. The building dates back to 1904 and was recently renovated, taking care to keep the original design, to resort to such raw materials in the region. The columns that host the gate and the gate dating from 1904 and are the only ones that exist in this time in Armamar. The existing fireplace in the dining room was in ancient times the same fireplace that people in the village used to dry the smoked meats. The Casa da Farmacia is comprised of a patio where you can relax and have a glass of wine from the Douro, with a bar, a reading room, a dining room, ten bedrooms, all with en-suite bathroom. The house is equipped in all compartments including rooms with air conditioning, central heating and wireless internet broadband free. The House of Pharmacy is located right in the historic center of Armamar, in South Douro, region that was classified by the UNESCO World Heritage, its privileged location allows guests can easily visit the wineries villages and perform medieval scripts.

Spent a couple of nights while visiting the Douro valley in September, the manager was away but the young lady that was there (I think her name was Simone) was just fantastic. Located off the beaten track and in the mountains (approx 13km uphill from the A24), this property is very well kept and everything was spotless, we were greeted by Simone who promptly checked us in and showed us to our room. The room was great, and they also have a bar as well as a games room which included a big screen television. There was also a very nice courtyard that we were able to enjoy. Also included was a great breakfast. The town itself is quaint, very quiet and everything shut down early the 2 nights we spent here. I would highly recommend Casa da Farmacia to anyone, thank you for a great stay !

In early October 2018 my wife and I spent one night in the town of Armamar at Casa da Farmacia and we'd strongly recommend you visit the area and stay at the hotel. The hotel has 10 rooms and is clean, stylish, well managed and located off the beaten track in a charming picturesque town in an attractive part of the Douro wine region. The staff were very pleasant and very helpful. While in Armama we had a great evening at the Fonte Nova restaurant. Excellent food, beautifully located overlooking the adjoining valley and vineyards and managed by a man that clearly loves the restaurant business! The town of Armamar, the Casa da Farmacia hotel and Fonte Nova restaurant combination forms a first rate vacation option and well worth a visit!!

The house is very well decorated. They’ve made a great job at keeping the traditional architecture while providing all the modern conveniences. The rooms are very nice, comfortable and with an excellent bathroom. The staff is excellent. They go to all lengths to really make you feel at home.

I made a reservation with Casa Da Farmacia in October 2016. I communicated with Bruno who was very helpful. He said to contact him a few days before our reservation which was for September 30th, 2017, and he would probably be able to pick us up at Regua from the train. I wrote him a few days before twice without a reply. We took a taxi from Regua to Armamar on the 30th to find Casa Da Famrmacia closed in May.

If you visit the area, don't miss this casa! We came April 24-25 and both my friend and I will return - she with her family - me for the grape and apple harvests and to visit Touraca and Sao Jao de Touraca monastery again. Bruno is a host who goes not just the extra mile, but an extra two or three to ensure an elegant and 100% luxurious stay. The house is impeccable, as is the service. The game room and wine bar are most inviting. We recommend the suite with the view of the square. Breakfast was sumptuous without hot foods. Freshly squeezed juice, fresh fruit, breads, jams, ham, cheese and more. Wines and herbs from the monastery and other locally made delights are an option - take it! Apple tart pastry next door is a must-have grab-and-go for lunch on the road. Ask Bruno about the monastery. It's a best-kept secret. NOT to be missed - and don't forget the herbal tea (herbs grown right there) in the Bioshop.
