My sister and I went on a weekend trip to this resort together with my son. I was expecting a relaxing and refreshing stay but alas, I was totally disappointed. We availed of a promo I saw on the Internet and since I had a few days off, I asked my sister to come with me to Calamba. It was drizzling when we arrived there. I thought that the resort was a just a few steps from the corner of Mamon road but we had to take an uphill hike.
We had to make a 1000 deposit for the accommodation despite the fact that I have already paid in full. That was quite off-putting but anyway, I paid up just so we can enter the resort. The standard room was small, with 5 cots and 1 dilapidated closet. There were ants everywhere and there were doormats under our cots, which I later found out to be damp.
They did not have cable and no wi-fi. Their tv had poor reception. And when I asked for assistance, nobody came. We needed to order from Max's to have dinner.
We wanted to go for a swim but I observed that the people were not wearing proper attire. There were a few guys throwing around a basketball in the pool! Most of the people were in their t-shirts and shorts. So, I decided not to take a dip. I did not sleep comfortably because the bed was not firm and the cot was too narrow for me to sleep in.
We could not wait to go home the next day. And when we checked out, I had to wait for 10 minutes or more to get my 1k deposit!!!
It was the worst resort I have been to ever and I am not coming back!

Actually, i don't believe on the other reviews about MHR, but now after what i experience in this resort, i definitely not to go back here again. The pool was so cold and dirty they just put chemicals and filtered it whout adding hot water. That's why i choose laguna bec. of its hot spring. And don't give us a stupid answer na .malaki ang pool nyo Kaya lumalamig ang tubig obviously na hindi nyo nilalagay ng hotspring water gun 2 big pools buti na yang baby pool nilalagyan ng hot spring water at Kahit Papano medyo nakapagrelax ako. The 2 big pools are dirty and full of Chemicals and not a spring water.

Room 1804 in villa quite small andthe bedS are 2 small single bed joined together to become a big bed and the CR was clean. But I cannot sleep in this room every hour I always wake up dont Know why. We spent 3 days and 2 nights here. My family Always have an out of town But that was the first time that my 4 year old son asked us to go home because he was scared in our room, he said there is something wrong , it was so dark. And my kid was so lame on the days we spent here , hindi sya masyadong masigla
sa lugar na yun. And my husband have also nightmares about a lady in that place.

The personnels are accomodating and friendly. The cottages and grills are clean.
My only advice to you is not to spent an overnight stay in Mkiling Highlands Resort and bring all the things yu needed like charcoal , ice etc. The prices inside are so expensive compared outside
You can walk from the road going inside to MHR but the road is a little bit elevated.Just wpalk slowly.
Tahimik at maganda yun lugar pero....hindi rin ako nakarelax...malamig yun pool pero buti na lang my kiddie warm pool.... but i will not go back here anymore!

We were here last May 21 for a day swim. Found this cheap deal online and made arrangements really quick. Their staff gave me a call for confirmation three days before our outing which I see very convenient. The place is not that hard to find, we used google maps. Since it's cheap, I had the impression that the service will be so so. Well, service is quite good. They even have porters that can assist you with carrying your things from the parking lot to your tables or rooms. There was a lifeguard on standby on both pools. You can bring your own food and drinks and you can also grill food if you like. Picnic tables are situated near the pools so it's really good for those who came only for the swim. Note also that this is a hotspring on a mountain which we found out when we got there and good thing, it was not that hot. The only downside is the shower, it's a bit hot. Overall, cheap doesn't mean bad or poor because we got more than what we paid for. My family liked it here so we are planning to go back for a night swim.

This resort only deserves a 1 star. Their pillows are comfy but that's about it. I have traveled a lot in my lifetime and never had experienced such terrible service.

1. When we arrived there was no water and the pool was dirty. Shouldn't you have prepared for our arrival? We made a downpayment days before.

2. It took 45 mins and 3 follow up calls for them to give us water and for someone to come and clean the pool. So we paid for those 45 minutes and couldn't use it because of the incompetence of the staff.

3. With the rent of the private pool comes with a grill. At around 5pm we realized there wasn't any grill. So I callrd the front desk. They said we still had to give a 300 deposit. Never told us about this so we went to the store within the premises to make a downpayment. They said that the grill isn't clean yet. So since we still needed to buy some things outside of the resort we told them we would be back. The traffic was terrible so we went back 1 1/2 hrs later. When we arrived to get the grill they said it still isnt cleaned!!! An hour and a half??? So we went back to our room and asked them to bring it to us. Well it took another 45 minutes after that. Good thing we had an electric grill and we were able to cook dinner.

4. At around 10pm the people fr across us started to fight and because we were afraid fornour safety we called the front desk. Well 3 calls later and 4 fights after no one came. These people don't care about the safety of their guests. There were gates within the private areas BUT there are No LOCKS! !

5. When we were leaving I went to get my deposit. They said I should go to the front desk for that. I explained we never got to use the grill and we bought the charcoal for nothing. There was an old man there who said...well you did accept the grill right? I should have gotten the name of this old man to submit a complaint and I didn't. I just had to get out of there.

6. Checkout took 30 mins. There were only 3 guests there. The front desk people moved so slowly we were all mesmerized by the lack of efficiency and professionalism.

7. There were ants I mean not just 5 or 10 but hundreds. It's an infestation of ants that my daughter who was pregnant was so grossed out. We all had to take a shower at the men's bathroom. So all 13 of us shared one bathroom when we paid for 2.

8. There were big rats...gross!!!! So after we had dinner we kept all our food inside the rooms where it was airconditioned.

After this review I'm going to submit a report to the health department. Since im also a travel agent who works for the biggest travel agency in the world I will submit a report about them so we can put them in the list of not recommended for travelers.

The staff was not even helpful at all. They seem to know about these complaints as you can tell by the reviews but they have not done anything about it. I'm also writing to the management to complain about their attitude, inefficiency, and lack of effectivity. It was a WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY.

There are other resorts around the area that are much cleaner and have better customer service and still charge the same. I will tell all my friends about them for sure....

I availed a promo package via Groupon for 2 Family Rooms (6 pax @) for Christmas, Dec. 24-25, 2012... Including my mother who is 78 years old...

The rooms are really big that you can dance around them... Each room has 2 bathrooms... The double bed is 2 single beds joined together...

Problems encountered:
1) Water in the bathrooms is so hot... There is no control to neutralize the water temperature...
2) There were litters in the big pool, including chips' foil & leaves...
3) Water in the pool is so cold... The other pool is being treated at that time...

Their OIC at around 1:30pm was not that accommodating, I forgot her name... I had to take a nap to de-stress...

I called again at around 4pm and talked to another OIC, Sir Vic and am relieved that he understood my anxieties & concerns. Spending Christmas away from home for the elderly & kids to have some fun... He told me that there are no motors to maintain the heat in the big pools... Water is replaced on a weekly basis but even it is naturally hot, it will become cold in time... He ordered to have the kiddie pool drained & refilled... We waited for 2-3 hours for the pool to be half-filled... Thanks to Sir Vic and my mother enjoyed the hotsprings water of Laguna... But I told him that I am really disappointed...

We forgot the 2 boxes of silvanas we requested to be kept in their kitchen (we bought from The Original) but nobody noticed until we reached Manila... And nobody from Makiling Highlands notified me that I left something in their refrigerator... ;-)

This place has no business calling itself a "Resort". From the moment we entered until the moment we left, it was a ?@!!$% nightmare ! Our room consisted of seven beds, a very loud air con, one small wooden table, and a TV that didnt work. There was no in-room Wi-Fi and the one at the office didnt work either. The pool was the only thing working and was alright. There was no "lights-out time" or "activity control" by management; the karioke singing went on until 5:00 am and we couldnt sleep at all. The barbeque area had no chairs until i ordered them, there was not much overhead shade there, and the grill was already rusted through in many areas.

All in all, I would call this upgraded camping at best. Stay away from here and dont think the word "Resort" has the same meaning in third-world countries as it does in the US or other first-world countries. I got this "deal" on MetroDeals.....last time i will use that place as well !

Contrary to the rather unfavorable impressions previously posted, my grown-up kids and I found this place real nice and the staff - from front desk to staff - accommodating and friendly. They willingly assisted us in giving directions to UP Los Banos, served our foods on agreed time and without delay, among others. We were assigned Villas 1 and 2, and everything turned smoothly during our stay: airconditioning unit working properly, towels and linens nice smelling. The pool is ideal for night swimming. Though the private showers were hotter that usual, we were amazed by the fact that such temperature is naturally brought about by earth's inner layer, the place being at the foot of Mount Makiling.

We stayed here overnight last June 1, 2013 with kind of big expectations due to the “highlands” part of its name. Frankly the only “high” thing about this place is my blood temperature.

Like all private resorts in Pansol, it has a kiddie pool and an adult pool with very very hot waters especially the one for the kids. As if they want to make a kiddie soup for Mt. Makiling. Seriously though, the water was too hot. Tap water was also too hot to handle, shower left me partially burned. They provided a grill, but that was it. We brought our own portable stove. There was no refrigerator or water dispenser. They told us that the place is good for 40 pax, but they neglected to mention that they only have 8 beds for all of us. The beds were too small, just enough for a single person (not on the heavy side too). There were a few towels and soap provided, but that was it.

Over all, a bad place to stay in, basic amenities should at least be provided for a more comfortable stay. Come to think of it, we paid only Php8,500 for our whole stay. Oh well, what’s done is done.

I wouldn't even stay here for free. Nothing around, to dangerous to leave the resort at night and it has nowhere to eat you have to get the staff to call you delivery from McDonald's. The pool is ok but we seen frogs swimming in it so we got out. The room is small the tv doesn't work, at night we had only cold water and in the morning we had no water we couldn't even shower or brush our teeth. We were covered in mosquito bites when we woke up. We actually wanted to leave at night but was to dangerous so we got up at 7am to leave. The staff are friendly that's the only good thing about this place. Young children about 16 or 17 were drinking Brandi and singing on karaoke till about 11 at night. I would not recommend this place I wish I listened to the reviews before hand.

The very first thing that I would say is the reception, they are so disorganized both check in and check out and very unprofessional, To the staff, if you are not willing to work on holidays, look for another job. You are employed in a hospitality business, don't be impolite. Very arrogant answers to clear and polite questions.

The facilities are dirty and poorly maintained. I should even sue you because my daughter got hurt by a broken pool tile.

The room smells bad! The pictures in your website are so deceiving!
