Hotel room ‘atrium view’ overlooked concrete building and stairwell, felt like a prison cell . Had to upgrade to a room with a view. This was very disappointing and jet2 holidays should have explained this in there booking system
This hotel is set in lovely well kept gardens with three well maintaned pools its a short walk from the beach main shops and restaurants. There is a small shopping centre next door which has a number of cafes and shops and a Dinos supermarket The rooms which are a good size wiith a nice well equiped kitchen were clean and the towels and bedding were changed regularly. The balcony was large and had a table and four chairs. We would definately stay there agin if we visited this resort.
My family and I ate twice at Hotel Sipan in 7 days we were on the island. We chose the nights they had the all you can eat grill and so impressed with the quality and choice of food available. There were choices for the kids too which made it a no brained for us.
The location is lovely The hotel is a travelodge Small featureless rooms Tiny bathrooms with micro showers And we had what they loosely describe as a suite Mediocre breakfast Poor lunch and dinner Typical guest is an ugly fat Brit But it’s cheap and clean Owner is a very interesting character - I’ll leave that there and you can make your own mind up
We were residents from 27/9 to 10/11 on B&B basis, towards the end of our holiday we discussed the situation with the proprietor had only recently taken over the hotel. The local bus service provides easy access to the main town on Sipan & Loupud, Dubrovnik by ferry It is well situated with good access to the beach, the shop & other restaurants, nearly a 4 star hotel in terms of rooms, decor etc. The focus of our discussion was the variability of the food, especially toward the end of the season. He explained that there were a number of contextual factors ( difficulty with supplies, weather, suppliers and also staff problems) which had influenced the hotels past performance and which he had addressed so that next season customers would receive better food & service especially.
We picked this island and hotel due to it being out of Dubrovnik and quiet. On the first 2 days it was a bit hectic as a film crew took over the hotel. They were filming a programme for hbo called I think sussessions or successessions. The stars were Brian Cox and Kieran Kyle Mcculkin. The hotel and room was as expected although not properly cleaned on a regular basis. This may have been down to the new ownership of the hotel. The new owners where very friendly and listened to the concerns of the guests, which was good to see. I put this down to a few teething problems and once sorted this will be a great hotel and island to stay. The new owners are also in discussion with the local church to buy the land at the rear and put a pool in. This would add to the appeal of this hotel because swimming in the cove can be dangerous due to lots of sea urchins. Water shoes are advised but there are cleared areas around the bay to swim safely. You can get a ferry direct from the island to Dubrovnik and back cheaply but only 1 in the early morning, coming back at 8pm. Alternately you can get the shuttle bus to the other side of the island and go to 2 other islands for a visit, or stay on and go to Dubrovnik for the day. The hotel is situated in a cove which boats come in through the day and moor up for the night. This is nice to just sit and watch. There are walks around the island or you could hire a bike or kayak for the day and off you go. Scuba diving is possible but you have to travel to dubrovnik to arrange. Trips also leave from dubrovnik which when you take into account the travel time to get there most trips would have left. This did not bother us as we went for a relaxing 2 weeks and really enjoyed it.…
We stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel was nice, pretty standard, most of the staff were friendly but not a lot to do on the island itself. The breakfast provided wasn’t great, not a lot of options and the food and coffee/juice wasn’t very appetising. Apparently we were told by the staff it was because they didn’t get many deliveries during the low season but the food they had on offer wasn’t to great to be honest. The room was nice, comfy with a beautiful outlook on the water and they had free wifi. To be honest though I probably wouldn’t stay here again for the price we paid but that’s just my opinion. It’s a lovely place and island just not much to do.
We stayed here for a week in early late september / early October. The hotel is located in a stunning location very picturesque. We stayed bed and breakfast so did not use the restuarant facilities other than for breakfast. People moaned about breakfast but I thought it was OK. There was plenty to choose from including hot and cold food , fruit juice, tea and coffee. The room was basic and in need of a little attention (as were other areas of the hotel) but had everthing that we needed and was kept clean. The hotel owners were very pleasant and went out of their way to make sure that ensure that guests were happy and that any issues were sorted. I think for the price that we paid for the holiday that we had good value. The resort is very quite so fine if you are looking chill out and perhaps to have a walk. Personally we thought it to was a little too quite. There are 4 restaurants, three selling typical local cuisine which were quite expensive and one that sold pizza / pasta dishes that was very reasonably priced and had great service. We tried them all finding that the pizza place met our needs better than the rest. The worst in our opinion was Konoba U Balda Di Balo. There are three bars in the reosrt Armais, bar with no name and cafe bar Luka. All bars have a good range of reasonably priced drinks. There is also a cafe bar at the beach which is a short stroll form the hotel. Here you can get drinks and a snack at lunchtime. There are also a couple of small stores were you can buy a limited range of food, drinks and ice creams. The worst aspsect for us with the resort was the lack of options for lunchtime snacks. If you want a trip away form the resort then there is a bus which takes you into Sudurad where there are a few places to eat and where you can catch a Ferry to the mainland and other local islands. There is also a Ferry service from the resort into Dubrovnik. This leaves relatively early in the morning so we gave this a miss. In summary we found a very attricative resort with a resonable hotel but not much to do and limited eating options which can be pricey. I think if we were returning to Croatia then we would visit Lopud.…
Just returned from 10 days holiday from the beautiful island of Sipan, we stayed in the hotel of the same name, what to say about this hotel which is not derogative. The room itself was pretty basic it did however have a fridge and a safe at no extra charge, the bathroom was clean the shower was very good but very small . The one thing that we missed about the room was a balcony where you could sit and also but swimwear out to dry. Now we come to the biggest failing of the hotel in our and other peoples opinion and that was the food? our first meal on arriving at the hotel, the meat was very good but for some reason it tasted like the chef had poured a salt pot over it, and that was accompanied by stewed spinach and that was it. A lot of people complained about the BBQ which we did not have but everyone was saying that there was plenty of salad but not much meat. The worst meal of all was the breakfast, which was the same every single day consisting of scramble egg, some type of spicy sausage, aubergine, garlic sausage, salami, and two sorts of cheese the meat and cheese was cut so thin you could see right through it. We did have small rolls to start with but they soon disappeared off the menu like a lot of other things, some mornings you might have been lucky enough to get cornflakes and very seldom croissants. And to top it all off the butter came in small chunks sitting in a bowl of ice cubes which was impossible to spread on either bread or toast. To finish on a plus there was only one small bar in the village reasonably priced and ran by a lovely young couple, plus there was also a pizza restaurant which did an assortment of pizza, pasta and other food and was also very reasonably priced, where a lot of us went to eat but unfortunately it closed fives days into our holiday as there season ended like a lot of the restaurants on the island. This is a very quiet island and not suitable for people seeking any sort of nightlife, so it is worth going to visit the other islands which is the cheapest way of traveling. To jet 2 give yourself a pat on the back for the smooth running of the holiday.…
We came across this place walking around the island. Nice meeting overlooking the water. Ordered the chicken and it was delicious. Very reasonable price cimoared to the other restaurants we came across and the waiter was very friendly and efficient.
