I was shocked when I knew this hotel was so isolated. First impression this is a unique hotel, since it's located in the middle of Pine Forest lol. The standard room, is dated - really need refurbishment But, the suite room that located like small apartment. That was so good. Honestly, it was very good. You will be driven by the chauffeur from receptions, but trust me you may not regret when you stay there. It offers you a quite and silent place, very relaxing and nice. Next, I will stay on that kind of apartment.

Pros: serene mountain setting full of beautiful tall trees, spacious rooms, tiny but delightful outdoor bath (spa Onsen),big pool, and other amenities making it a fun kid friendly destination. Lovely free concert the evening we stayed with kid friendly music. Cons: every time you breathe you get charged and be careful about the misleading descriptions. WebSite said table tennis rackets, balls are free...but Turns out you still need to rent the table. The pool, ice,....Even the manga library you have to pay to read. Shuttle bus at least was free. Big enough that a huge Chinese tour bus came through ( but at least that meant some cool chinese meal items)

This was our first visit to Japan and we spent our first two nights here. Normally we wouldn't pick resort-style accommodation so I can't offer feedback based on how good it is on that front as I have nothing to compare it with. Compared with other accommodation we stayed in during our holiday it was absolutely fine. Before we arrived they had emailed me about a request I'd made on the booking site, so I can vouch for them being good at responding quickly and in English. On arrival they were very polite, spoke good English and happy to help with questions. The room was perfectly good, with Western-style sprung mattresses, not Japanese, if this is important to you. We ate in the restaurant one night as we arrived late and were shattered from the travel. There was a good range of food to choose from. Ditto with breakfast. Location-wise, it is definitely a drive out of Kawaguchiko but our satnav found it fine using the phone number. For the area, the price seems comparable with other hotels. The weekend that we stayed it was definitely busy and buzzing, friendly, not noisy, good front-of-house service and absolutely nothing to complain about.

We stayed here with a large group. (It was booked by our travel company and I did not select it myself as I would have researched it first and seen the negative reviews.) There are a couple different buildings here, so I can't speak for all of them but the one we were in had literally not been updated since the 1970s. I suppose it was relatively clean, but it's hard to tell with 45 years of stains and marks on the walls and all that. The rooms were large by Japanese standards, or even by North American standards, but this hasn't been a "premium" resort in many many decades. The food in the buffet was cold when we got there. The best thing about this place, and the only reason I don't give it a 1/5 is the stunning view of Mt. Fuji at breakfast. Is it worth staying here just for that? I'm not sure. I'd probably try to find another hotel in the area with similar views instead.

- This hotel was rather inconvenient as it was located far from public transit, and there weren't really any stores in the neighborhood.
- The rooms were old and overpriced compare to the hotel in the area.
- The breakfast and dinner buffet are average.
- Limited activities in the hotel and would cost the same price as Tokyo.
- NO Onsen in all the resort.

The whole experice for us is terrible from the begining. First we have to call three times before our checkin to verify our reservation which they claimed thery could not find it ( we had our Japanese friend called for us). They finally find our reservation at 10 am on our date of checkin. Upon the date our checkin, they did not inform us about the charges ( we are the owner at Hilton grand vacation club, this is our exchange), we end up have to pay 14000 yen per night( which is higher than their regular rate) otherwise they would not let us to leave. The shuttel service is not very reliable. one time we are in town, waiting at train station, they claimed we did not have reservation, they were almost going to leave us there. after that experice we made sure everytime we insist they wrote down our reservation on their pickup sheet and confirmed with them again everytime. The place is dingy and outdated. its like stuck in the 70's. furnature is old like from garage sale. the bedding is awful. I think you will get better even in the cheap motel here in US. NOT WORTH THE MONEY. The hotel is remote and far from everything. There is nothing for kid to do except they do have indoor Tennis court. I would stay in town for better hotels. You will be close to all the attractions and restaurants. I would not recommed this resort. stay away.

Me and my partner booked this hotel as a relaxing one night stay as we were planning to visit mount fuji. We were staying in japan for two weeks in total visiting a relative therefore we were set up to sleep on the floor for this time. Due to this we were looking forward to specifically using the spa facility and having a bed to sleep in but this was not the case. Not only was the map for directions absolutely terrible and was not supported by additional written directions. This resulted in us walking aimlessly around otsuki for approximately one hour and when asking Japanese locals for help the majority could not speak English (which is not the locals fault). Eventually when we were pointed into the right direction we arrived at kawaguciicko station where we were going to catch the free shuttle bus which proved very useful as the hotel is quite a distance from the station. However, we had to wait just under an hour for the next bus as there was a set timetable which we were unaware of. Also, you are required to make a reservation to use the shuttle bus and as a British tourist we were not able to phone them to make this reservation so we just hoped they would let us use it anyway (which they did) but the bus was empty therefore they couldn't really say no. Eventually when we got to the hotel we were given our keys at the reception along with a portable modem for free wifi which became very useful because we had no use of facilities. We were told the pool was closed outside of summer season, the shop closes at an early time with no other shops nearby as the hotel is in an isolated location and the takeaway pizza service also stops at an early time. None of these points were made on the website. Hotels in the UK do not close their indoor pools due to being outside of the summer season and with this hotel being near a major tourist attraction I would of presumed this facility would not be closed for a long period of time. The purpose of booking this hotel was mainly to use the spa facilities but were dissapointed to find out that we were to be told that we were not allowed to use them because we had tattoos which we found very unfair and discriminatory as tourists. If I had known this prior to booking, then i would have booked a cheaper hotel without these facilities which there were plenty available. We are travelling therefore are on a budget and to spend the expense of this hotel for a one night stay and to be told on arrival that we were not able to use the main facilities and the restaurant being expensive in price was disappointing to say the least. The pictures on the Internet are very misleading, the decoration and furniture in our room was outdated and the bed wasn't very comfortable considering we have slept on the floor for the past 7 days. The bathroom was also tiny. The wifi was an absolute savour because during our stay here we were restricted to the room, the weather outside on the day of our stay was poor therfore were unable to enjoy the outdoor facilities and beautiful scenery. I'm sad to say that this wasn't money well spent and I wouldn't stay here again.

Very disappointing. The room was non smoking and stunk of heavy smoke. We booked a double room and got twins. When we asked about this, we were told that it was booked out. We booked 6 months ago. Westerners are not treated well

Ok after a late night arrival (make sure you get here by 11pm) oh and last shuttle up to location is at 16.50, and you need to call for a reservation or the taxi will cost you Y2000 .. I had hoped this location would have been better but we are all asking ourselves why did we come here !! We did try to cancel but were about 8 hours after the dead line and the property declined. As there seems to be only us and 1 other couple here I guess they need the business. Ok so it is not peak tourist season but .....
Pool ... Closed Gym ... Closed We can play tennis and golf .. Errr it is like 12' outside no thanks. Restaurant for lunch ... Closed (told to go down to closest town ... Yes TOLD) Shuttle to closest town .... Only goes once per hour and you need to make a reservation !!!
Took us about 90 minutes to get the heater in 1 bedroom to work, it still cold at night at this time of year. I called for help and was told to get the blankets out of the closet ... No joke. I called again to ask for someone to physically come here to translate the remote and was told 'soon' but we are still waiting to see them and it is 3pm the next day. The cottages are all concrete and wood so at this time of year you NEED a heater on.
Look the place is ok .. Abit dated and we found mould on the bathroom curtain so not really up to what we would expect from Japanese cleanliness. The fan/ducts of the heaters badly needed cleaning also.
There are lot of workmen around so maybe they are gearing up for the summer season but the why allow us to pay nearly $300 per night for a place where all the facilities are not available. You are isolated out here .. About 20 mins to Kawaguchiko .. It is not mentioned about the shuttle being on a restricted time table and finishing before 5pm.
With the restaurant being closed for lunch .. We were not told that upon checkin either. Something like that should be mentioned especially after we made a point to ask where it was and what times it was open. Only snacks and 2 min noodles in the gift shop .. No family mart close by.
The good things .. Free wifi .. So all 3 of us are sitting in lounge on our iPad/phone/laptop at this moment. There is a coin laundry. The beds are reasonably comfortable also.
It would be an idea for management to get a translation into English of all the electrical things. The heater remotes/microwave/hot plate. It wouldn't be needed in every room but given to us English only readers for help in the room. Also the bus time table in English with the locations for pickup and drop off.

We booked the family quadruple room with two bedrooms and 2 bathrooms for two persons from 5th Januar to 7th. We checked out after the first night because the place was awfully dirty and dated. the price of 401,88 Eur for two nights is not justified. Although we were offered an upgrade we decided to leave the place immediately. Everything smelled awful and was dirty. We strongly recommend not to stay in this hotel. We know - this may sound, but please see the attached photos
