Gamirasu is the name of an exquisitely restored 35 rooms troglodyte cave house opened in 1998, in Ayvali Village near Urgup in the heart of Cappadocia, Turkey. The hotel is located in a restored thousand-year-old Byzantine monastic retreat which offers modern conveniences without distracting from the spiritual feeling of the area which has been known to be inhabited for more than five thousand years. Gamirasu cave Hotel is featured in major international travel guides as one of the best cave hotels of Cappadocia. Recently Business Insider choose '' 50 incredible hotels you should sleep in during your lifetime '' It is also mentioned as a romantic escape for honeymoons in wedding magazines. A 12th century Byzantine Christian church forms part of the Gamirasu, and until recently, part of the hotel was still used by Christian monks. Much care has been taken to blend the historic facades with the natural curves of the Cappadocian landscape to preserve its traditional style and appearance whilst providing you with the utmost in modern conveniences. The finish is stylish and the atmosphere inviting and romantic. Indeed, it is the perfect honeymoon destination, with many couples choosing the intimate cave suites for access to some of the most breathtaking and unforgettable scenery in the world. The sense of tranquility and authentic village atmosphere around the Gamirasu is instantly soothing, with nothing to disturb you but the sound of birds and sumptuous aromas drifting across the warm air from the old Monastic kitchen. Breakfast consists of all local and organically grown produce, including freshly baked bread, clotted cream, honeycomb and fresh fruit. A 7km hiking trail departs from the front door of the hotel and follows a remote valley with a beautiful brook flowing down the middle. In every direction, you are surrounded by breathtaking views, extraordinary natural shapes and a myriad of cave-dwellings to explore. It really is the most mesmerizing of destinations.

Detailed Reviews
Staying at the Gamirasu Cave Hotel is both a unique and spectacular experience. Rooms are artfully crafted into beautiful cave-like spaces, with rough-hewn walls of volcanic stone, but they are skillfully lighted and are outfitted with marble floors, modern appliances and amenities, and are decorated with custom-made furniture in the Ottoman design. Our host was gracious to upgrade our reservation to one of the supreme suites in the hotel, room 129, and words cannot begin to describe its splendor. We felt like we were in a sultan's palace. Every member of the staff from the manager who welcomed us with tea to the wait staff was exceptionally gracious and aimed to please. Each morning's breakfast buffet included an abundance of traditional Turkish dishes, fresh fruit and pastries, and eggs to order. The grounds of the hotel are designed with multiple terraces and gardens where you can just relax with a drink any time of day, plus there is a swimming pool area. This will likely be the most memorable and lovely place we will ever stay.

The hotel is exceptional! Amazing staff, very friendly and helpful. We even got rose petals in front of our door. Just beautiful. Picturesque from every angle, with many beautiful terraces and the view is just amazing. Would definitely recommend staying here, very quiet and pieceful.
The food is so delicious, everything we tried was so tasty.

We just spent a couple of nights in this special hotel as part of Fez Travels Fire of Anatolia tour. The hotel is reached up a track from a very small rural village which had one restaurant. This did not appear to be open during our stay. The rooms/caves are very clean and each one is uniquely furnished. Beds are comfortable with pretty linens. The hotel is built into the side of a hill with lots of interesting places to sit and eat in warmer times of the year and has a lovely small pool. Lots of steep steps so if you are not so comfortable with this request a room on a lower level.
Breakfast’s is a high quality cold buffet with a few hot dishes and eggs cooked to order. Our tour included a prix fixe dinner but the restaurant also has an a la carte menu and full bar. The reason for the four star and not five star rating is problems with the internet connection in the rooms which many people seem to be experiencing.

One of life’s experiences that my friends and I get to experience. A real treat for the entire Turkey trip. If you want a “real” cave hotel experience this is the place to stay. Those in the city centre are not the real deal. However, you must hv a car to stay here or arrange for private pick up as it’s remote and not easy to find. However, once you find it, you’ll not regret it. So much history in these rooms and really authentic. As it does not hv any lift, travel light. Staff were all family members n were so great n made us feel so welcome. Nestle in a sleepy small mountain area it’s such a sight to wake up to

Great rooms, Amazing breakfast spread, nice restaurant with great food and we'll stocked bar.
Got a small pool, but could not use as it was cold. All amenities in the room including safe, ironbox, tea/ coffee pot etc.. Very friendly and caring staff. Those who don't speak English well, immediately calls for support and help you with anything.
Need to know:
Little away from any stores or other restaurants. Temperature control inside room is tricky. We felt too hot and turned off heating. Noise of running water and talking from neighboring rooms are audible. All these are characteristics of any Cave hotel and it’s not an issue with this particular one. Went of for a walk in morning but nothing scenic around the place and also there are too many dogs around.

On a Fez Travel tour. Should have been in the main hotel but were put in "overspill" accommodation which required us to be driven to breakfast and evening meals. Meant we didn't have chance to take advantage of the main hotel swimming pool, bar and terraces - which did look very nice. Fez blamed the hotel for overbooking, though it happened twice on this tour.
My bathroom was very smart and cave-like, the bedroom was large but the door didn't always lock properly.

We stayed twice in July and August, the hotel is very good in every sense, I would like to thank all its employees, especially Mr. Nurtekin for his friendly and courteous behavior, and all the friends working in the room cleaning and the chefs for their attentive behavior. We had a very peaceful and enjoyable holiday, we will go again at the first opportunity. Best regards.

The room we stayed in was perfect. Clean and spacious. We loved the pool. The staff was very attentive, especially the breakfast and dinner menus were great. The room is designed as a cave and each room has a different concept. You find yourself in a different world. When we come again, our only choice will be Gamirasu. We thank everyone who worked.

Gamirasu cave hotel is a unique hotel. The hotel must be added to your bucket list for sure. I stayed in the roman king suite, this stunning suite is huge with a large king-size bed. The room has a luxurious design but it still preserved its cave-like looks, the vintage furnitures were lovely. My favourite part of the room is the Roman-style fountain pool which can easily accommodate two adults. The hotel has a gorgeous pool for the hotel guest with a bar that can serve you drinks. I loved the Turkish cuisine, dinner on the terrace was enjoyable. Gamirasu is also the perfect place for amazing photos and videos. The staff are all helpful and friendly. They filled our schedule with thrilling activities that made us enjoy our trip more than ever.
Hope I can return soon!

We stayed here for 2 nights on a tour of Cappadocia. I can't express how lovely and unique this hotel is. We had a cave room with a king bed and a nice bathroom. The bed was so comfortable and the room was spacious. A generous breakfast is included with the room and it had a large array of delicious choices. Given the time of year, we didn't use the pool or other facilities. We did eat dinner at the onsite restaurant one of the nights and it was sooooo good. Very impressive for a hotel dinner. If you visit Cappadocia, I would highly recommend this hotel!

Hello, first of all, we would like to thank you for your interest in our hotel. You can have your laundry washed for a certain fee. We have staff on duty for this.
Dear 86manish,
You can not see balloon view from the hotel :(

Get one of the suites. The top one (admittedly quite a few steps to the top) has a view of the whole site, of the ancient caves opposite and is very private, with its own outside terrace and dining area. Worth the climb.
