Once the summer retreat of the royal family of Sikkim, this Heritage property is now a luxury boutique hotel. Each bedroom in the hotel offers magnificent views of the snow capped mountains and peaks; a unique and personal tryst with the Himalayas. Set in eight acres of virgin forest and landscaped gardens, it invokes the old charm of its first owners - the royal family of Sikkim - and offers a peaceful retreat with a glorious view of the Singalila range. The 300 year old Pemayangtse monastery is right next to the resort on a verdant hill top covered by moist temperate Oak forests.

One of the best hotels in west Sikkim, I have been here twice. Once in Feb 2020 and again went back in Apr 2021. The place and its mesmerizing view never fails to make me detox, relax and rejuvenate. The lawns and locations are just fantastic, coupled with the service is definitely one of reasons for me to go back to again and again. I should also mention about their safety, my wife had left her bag (with all valuables) while checking out. We called back the Manager - Surojit Mukherjee after we had left the hotel and reached Kalimpong, he was prompt to ensure every item inside was safe. He offered to even courier that big bag back to our Kolkata, address. Thankfully another fellow tourist came forward to help and got us the bag at the airport. Highly recommended should you wish to enjoy the beautiful Kanchanganga view and tranquility of Pelling at uncompromised safety. Pro advise, call the hotel and speak to the manager - Surojit Mukherjee for deals and perks for long stays :D

I stayed at Elgin pelling for 3 nights during early April. Cons - 1. Guests can pay the hotel to arrange bonfires in the garden area at night. Most often, these bonfires turn into noisy late-night affairs with loud music and worse, guests singing in their drunk melody-less voices. Because the hotel has charged for bonfire, even they don't reprimand loud guests during these bonfires. The manager leaves the hotel around 10 p.m. beyond which there's no control over this noise. After tiring day of sight seeing, it is irritating if sleep is disturbed. 2. The bathrooms are not in the best shape. For example, our bath tub did not have a plug to hold water in it, this defeating the entire purpose of the bath tub! 3. Noise easily travels across hotel rooms. For example, we could hear telephone ringing and guests chatting in other rooms Pros - 1. Food is good 2. Scenery 3. Their pet dogs

Excellent location , well maintained neat and clean resort , very friendly staff , only some points may need to improve - rooms with views are relatively small, very less options in Non veg menus and slightly overpriced. No local cuisines available as such. Though due to bad weather , there was no view of mountain range but overall a very nice stay.

My wife and I spent four delightful nights here as part of our 30th wedding anniversary trip. The hotel is superbly located with grand views of the Kanchenjunga range of mountains. The pluses: 1. Serene and quiet location, with views of the mountains and walkable from the monastery 2. Excellent service; polite, responsive and friendly, especially the dining room staff 3. Lovely lobby with historical photos displayed. 4. Having evening tea on the beautiful lawns is an experience by itself. The minuses: 1. The rooms are smaller than expected, and need some maintenance 2. On one night we were kept awake by the two hotel dogs barking continuously. A complaint to the security didn't help. The door to the room as well as the walls between rooms are not sound proof, so even the TV noise from the neighbour is disturbing. 3. The menu for dining is rather limited; little variety. Overall we had a memorable stay. We will particularly remember it for the views and the service.

The hotel manager is very arrogant.. The manager does not listen at all, rather always looks highly inattentive and does not care about the ease of the customers. The kitchen staff is very slow and arrogant as well. You have to remind them at least 4-5 times to get food only for you to get up in the end to get it yourselves. Asking them to serve as simple as curd, you will receive a reply to get up ourselves and get the curd as they pnly serve tea.. If you’re looking for decent service, Elgin is definitely not the place you would want to stay at.
