Dakak Park and Beach Resort is the closest place to paradise one could ever experience, with its beauty and serenity. Dakak started operating on 1988, was conveniently positioned in the southern part of the Philippines and surrounded by mountains in its west. Situated at Taguilon, Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte, Dakak tactfully eludes the typhoon belt, making it an ideal all-season destination for travelers. Dakak is the first five-star resort in Mindanao with "AAA" accreditation from the Department of Tourism, located along a private 750 meter white sand beach. From the original two (2) cottages, it has expanded into 64 cottages with 160 fully-furnished; 64 Bungalows; 98 Deluxe rooms; 2 Executive rooms; 16 Prime Deluxe rooms; 14 Beachfront rooms in native duplex type bungalows with capiz shell window panes; and three (3) Family Pavilions with 30 family rooms and one (1) Presidential Suite. Through the years, Dakak received various recognition locally and internationally among which are the Kalakbay Award for Resort on 1989 from the Philippine Department of Tourism; 16th International Award for Tourist, Hotel and Catering Industry on 1991 from the Trade Leaders Club and Editorial Office Madrid, Spain; a certificate of excellence by the Prestigious Resorts of the World on 1992; and has participated in the Dream Incentive Contest theme for the Philippines that has won the "Best Showcase 1997" in the Incentive Travel and Conventions, Meetings Asia (IT&CMA) last December 1997. Dakak Park and Beach Resort continuously strive to carry out its mission - "an abundance of recreational activities and entertainment, warm Filipino hospitality, and environment friendly ambiance."

Room interior looks old and not well maintained. TV has no remote and channel selector not functioning. Could not use intercom to call fdesk. Window type aircon not cool during the day - either inadequate HP, unserviced, or both (no wonder there's a stand fan). Experienced brown out and their genset did not kick-in immed; when it did, could not supply power to A/C. No room slippers available - this P35 rubber-pair would be very useful when guests go to the pool/beach.

We arrived and took our lunch in their Bamboo cafe: a dish cost P300+; halohalo P160; iced tea (powdered) is 60 per glass! For dinner we ate in Kamayan ni Manay (fr the cauldron to another- resto owned by RJ also) - another hi-way robbery. Lunch/dinner for 6 cost P3000+

Buffet breakfast was plentiful. Personnel were courteous and helpful.

Package was for 2 pax @ P5800 2D1N plus fantasyland tour/rides. We were 3 couples.

P5,800 less F/land tour 400, shuttle 1,000 and pool use 400. P4,000 for a 2-star cabana is way too expensive. Their accomodation is a far cry from Dumaguete's P1,200 hotel Ess.

Lunch in pier, while awaiting boat to depart, P500. More full-tummies, less stressed-hearts.

From Diolog City, we took a Tricycle ride (200 Pesos) to Dapitan City and then a Motor Bike ride (150 Pesos) up the windy road to the gate of the Dakak Park Beach Resort where we were greated by a friendly employee and paid 500 pesos each to get into the resort. Once in there, it soon became very obvious that the 500 pesos din't include much other than a small lunch at one of the resturants and access to 1 of the pools. Most the places in the resort were off limits and only available to registered guests. I have been to many places in the Philippines and this is by far one of the most expensive (cash grab) places that i have been to. everything was pay, pay, pay, a can of coke 122 pesos, rent a towel to dry off 500 pesos.
I would recommend people go to Boracay, long before here.
This is at least 8,000 pesos for a day (no room) and still not that good of a time

Visited Dakak for the second time, this time with the whole family. We booked the 3D/2N and stayed at the Family Pavilion. The package said it included all meals, 1 night at the Gloria Fantasyland and tour of Dakak and Dipolog. It cost Php 4,500 per person for a minimum of 10 persons for the whole stay, not per night. Since we were bringing our own vehicles from Zamboanga City, we asked to be met at Gloria de Dapitan Fantasyland. From there, we were brought to a 'river tour' which didn't really show anything nice except the barnacles and the excitement of riding the boat. Hahaha. We were brought to a small restaurant with no other guests, at the end of the river, which served dismal food. Crabs were served in what tasted like catsup sauce! And when they said the package included all meals, they only meant it included the food! You had to pay for your drinks! The meals for the succeeding days were much better though.

Yes, Family Pavilion was dormitory type complete with 4 doubledecks but the kids had fun with the set up. The room had 2 baths and 2 comfort rooms. Room was clean. We thought the bottled water in the ref were complimentary since no price was listed anywhere in the room but we were charged for them when we checked out.

It was also far from the beach since these are newer rooms, newer addition to the resort but they do provide electric golf carts to bring people to and fro if they didn't want to walk. About 4 pools were available for use even one with slide.

Food from the dinner and breakfast buffet were just okay. The beach, for me, makes Dakak a relaxing place to be. This is not crowded like Boracay and even with lots of people visiting the resort, you feel like you are alone in a section of the beach since it is a wide stretch.

The staff are just okaybut not very eager to be accomodating or friendly and doesn't make me feel like they aim to please. They are not sloppy, mind you, but their service do not stand out.

While the resort is set in a nice cove and probably has the best beach this side of the Philippines, it is clearly past it's prime. The facilities are now getting a major facelift but most of the cottages are quite dilapidated. Service is also one of the worst i have ever experienced. If you're planning to go here, don't bother. Definitely not worth the trip!

Yes truly an awesome beachfront !!!

Such a shame though having ignorant and untrained service crew!!
I made my booking via phone and luckily got the name of the reservation personnel.
After a long drive from Cagayan de Oro City, we arrived at the guard house of this hotel and were told that they could not let us in because my booking was not in the computer. So I have to call Ms.Luchie the reservation personnel whom I made the reservation!
Nightmare begun!!
After a fight over the phone – my reservation for a 2 room just pop-out!
I took their Barkadahan package and Dakak ta Bay Package for 2 nights and 3 days stay.

The front desk head with the chewing gum on her mouth told us that our rooms will be ready at 2pm that was totally ok since we arrived a bit early around 11 am. She told us that the waiters are all busy so nobody can give us the welcome drink!!That’s totally ok we have clean blue waters in front of us!

Breakfast, lunch and dinner time was a maze!!
We went to the only restaurant or lobby restaurant they had - waited, waited and waited for us to have a table and be served our lunch!!Waiters were all busy! Guest of this hotels must find their way! So we were observing local nationals -they just took any vacant table and made a long queue for the buffet table.
We have to be patient this is the only place where they serve food and drinks to all their guest!!Buffet food was repetitive good thing ala cart menu was available. We have no choice we have to eat and enjoy our stay!
They always made a mistake summing up consumption bill!!!After a while I checked my rooms rates and found out that I was over charged too.
Rooms were ready!
Beachfront rooms are just wonderful equipped with chambers maids and room service.
Other rooms are uphill!! No hotel maps so you need a good navigational sense here to locate your rooms!
Rooms are clean toilets are acceptable!! Noisy air conditioning system, television and in house phone was not working. No use in complaining!!

Check out time!!
Yes 1,500pesos was overcharged on my room stay bill. They just told me to void my credit card payment which I paid 3 days ago!! Crazy!! I insisted for a cash refund!!
Manager was always on a meeting!!

Finally I got my cash refund!!!

The Jalosjos family I think they are the owners must welcome complains and act on it at once.
It is such a pity leaving the degrading condition of the resort. Filipinos are proud of this place why not keep your standards updated !!

Bad experience with the service here! You book in dakak to get package tickets to fantasyland and other amenities. We checked in late night on july 16 and they gave us a ticket to fantasyland for july 16 and that if we use our ticket, we have to revalidate it in the front desk for that day. (Fyi lobby is 2 minutes away by a van you have to call since the lobby and restaurant and places are so far from each other). The free tickets we gave to our friends since we were too tired to go. But upon going, they couldn't use it because they have to go all the way back to Dakak (30 minutes away by private car) to revalidate it and then go back. Just To put the signature of their manager. Even for my friends to use it for just one hour since they close by 12mn and they decided to use it past 10pm. Seriously, no attempt to help customers who were already there! They can't accommodate customers with their confusing and not so sensible policies to enjoy what dapitan has to offer. Just to have it validated even if we were still checked in and even if they could confirm we were guests of Dakak. Even lower end resorts in cebu and manila can do better. I can't believe it! Bad service! Just like this morning when we asked front desk to guide our rented car to pick us up (far from the lobby) they weren't able to tell the car so we had to keep waiting until we eventually called the driver and guided him to our bungalow. And again, their lobby and other places are far. The place is nice in views and the beach looked good but i definitely do not recommend their service. Poor service. Rooms are old and also not so clean, found insect poop on the bed when we went in. 2 out of 5 stars.

I will talk about the entire tour my family had a week ago in Dakak provided by Fantasyland Tours.

Here goes:
Price: 2,499/pax minimum of 50 pax
It was a joined tour with other groups since we were a small one. Drawing of lots was done for the seating arrangement in the bus.

We had to leave Cagayan de Oro at 3am sharp. Arrived Dapitan City around 11am, went to a seaside area with Jose Rizal statue and took photos then went to a church (I forgot the name), then went to Rizal's house then had lunch at Gloria de Dapitan (c/o guest), then finally to Dakak Beach Resort.

Arrived around 2pm, had to wait for a few minutes for us to be checked in. Three hotel attendants helped us out with our bags. They were very helpful. The aircondition and fridge were probably not in good condition because it took hours for our room to cool and the fridge to cool the water that we brought with us. Bathroom was okay. No warm water flowing from the shower but it was okay since it's summer and really hot.

3pm-6:30pm Recreation / Leisure Time
Kids went to the people and the beach and went for a swim.

6:30PM waited for the bus, but bus arrived around 7pm

7:30PM Had dinner at 77 BNB BBQ and Grill (dinner was part of the package)

8:00PM Went to Fantasyland (Unli Rides was included in the package)

11:00PM In the bus to go back to Dakak. Waited until 12:00++AM because one group was still not around. (Kids in our group and the other group in the bus were very tired and decided to sleep in the bus) We (the 2 groups) including the bus driver decided to leave the M.I.A group because it was already almost 1am. This is the downside of a "joined tour".

Following day: We had a plate-in breakfast of scrambled eggs, rice, corned beef and bread with coffee (Nescafe 3-in-1). The restaurant attendant was very kind and accommodating. We had to wait for about 20 mins. for our breakfast to be served.

9AM-10:30 Recreation / Leisure Time - Kids went back to the pool and beach for a swim. The water on the beach was as cold as ice so the kids decided to stick with the pool. There was also a pool attendant. You can get towels there too but you need to return it before you go back to your room.

11:00 Checked out already and waiting for the bus to arrive to take us back to CDO.

12:00NN - Bus arrived; Travel back to CDO

9:25PM - Arrived CDO

Overall:
Dakak was really nice. The white sand beach was also clean. The water sparkled. It was quiet and I was able to relax there. The room (good for 16 people), I give it 4/5 because of the problem of the fridge and aircondition, no warm shower water. The food was just a typical Filipino breakfast. WiFi... I didn't know if there was available because I brought my own pocket wifi.

The TOUR:
The tour guide was perky and friendly. If I will go back to Dakak with a small group, I will not avail the promo group of 50pax tour. Some groups (not all) are not too sensitive about time matters.

Visited the resort just this month and stayed there for one night on their family pavilion. The room was big enough to accommodate 10-15 persons. The room has a small tv, a mini ref, two shower rooms, two comfort rooms and a porch. It has 2 queen-sized beds and four bunk beds. We got the ROOM AND RIDES package that included overnight at FAMILY PAVILION ROOM accommodation, Fantasyland Rides, complimentary use of swimming pools, water slides, beach volley and outside Jacuzzi for P 1,199.00 per person for a minimum of 10 persons.
We arrived there at 2pm but it took us around 30 minutes to checked-in to our room. Their family pavilion was far from the beach so we had to take the coaster to take us to the beachfront. I saw two restaurants around the resort and conference halls to accommodate business meetings and receptions. They also have 3 specialty stores but its not open for 24 hours. You cannot bring food from the outside but you can order food from their restaurants which is expensive on an average Filipino standard (their not-so-special tocilog costs P 185!). The Fantasyland inclusion to the package was not so very special for us because we've been to that place thrice already. We just went there to maximize the package we availed. By the way, they have a big bus to take you to Fantasyland from the resort and back. So, you can just leave your car at the resort and save yourself a 30-minute drive one way.
Activities you can do while staying in the resort are horseback-riding, zip-lining, riding on their ATV, playing tennis, kayaking, playing beach volley and more.
Over-all, our experience with Dakak Beach Resort was wonderful except for their food which is expensive and the part where you can't bring in food from outside. I hope they will consider that not all of their visitors are foreigners and can afford their food.
Note: They only serve their food in their restaurant. They do not have in-room food service.

We have stayed at this resort several times over the years as we have family to visit in the area. Each visit we depart with the same thoughts - nice place but the value is just not there for the price charged. Visited with family in 3 adjoining cottages with all three showing their age but still would rate higher if the price charged was not as high. Breakfast buffet was included in our package and had a wide selection with good quality. Food served at other times and at other locations on the property was from average to poor. Worst Italian meal I have ever had. Zipline (P500 ea) was enjoyed by all and swimming pools and beach enjoyed by the younger members of the family. Considering the remote location this is not really too bad of a place, just cannot get over how much it costs. New hotel just opened in Dipolog with another under construction, so suspect that this will be our last stay at this property - maybe still good for a day trip unless they increase the gate charge.
