Dakak Park and Beach Resort is the closest place to paradise one could ever experience, with its beauty and serenity. Dakak started operating on 1988, was conveniently positioned in the southern part of the Philippines and surrounded by mountains in its west. Situated at Taguilon, Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte, Dakak tactfully eludes the typhoon belt, making it an ideal all-season destination for travelers. Dakak is the first five-star resort in Mindanao with "AAA" accreditation from the Department of Tourism, located along a private 750 meter white sand beach. From the original two (2) cottages, it has expanded into 64 cottages with 160 fully-furnished; 64 Bungalows; 98 Deluxe rooms; 2 Executive rooms; 16 Prime Deluxe rooms; 14 Beachfront rooms in native duplex type bungalows with capiz shell window panes; and three (3) Family Pavilions with 30 family rooms and one (1) Presidential Suite. Through the years, Dakak received various recognition locally and internationally among which are the Kalakbay Award for Resort on 1989 from the Philippine Department of Tourism; 16th International Award for Tourist, Hotel and Catering Industry on 1991 from the Trade Leaders Club and Editorial Office Madrid, Spain; a certificate of excellence by the Prestigious Resorts of the World on 1992; and has participated in the Dream Incentive Contest theme for the Philippines that has won the "Best Showcase 1997" in the Incentive Travel and Conventions, Meetings Asia (IT&CMA) last December 1997. Dakak Park and Beach Resort continuously strive to carry out its mission - "an abundance of recreational activities and entertainment, warm Filipino hospitality, and environment friendly ambiance."

Enjoyed the beach it was clean and very private. Our garden room was very comfortable and nice.. Great A/C. The Service was above average. Everyone was very nice and friendly. Food was above average. The Prices were way too high!! Maintenance is lacking in many areas. Lots of cement bags and construction debris laying around.... Seems like they were understaffed... Probably won't be gong back soon....

We drove our car from Manila to Oroquieta City via RORO(Roll-on Roll-off) way. We arrived in Dapitan City around 10-ish in the evening and checked into a hotel. Everything was according to God's plan - a perfect and smooth trip. The following morning we decided to stop by (here) Dakak for a day tour before heading to our final destination. WRONG MOVE.

When we reached the gate of the resort, we were not allowed to pass through without paying the P1000.00 entrance fee. The staff immediately said 'the fee is consumable and non-refundable' which we fully understood and expected - common for many high-end resorts – despite it being a little on the expensive side.

What was not expected for such a high-end resort is that they DO NOT supply beach towels for their walk-in guests. It was NEVER mentioned by the guard nor stated on the policy posted at the gate prior to entering the resort.

We negotiated with the desk staff and explained to them our situation. They kept us waiting while the Guest Relations Manager, Sasha Montenegro, was in a meeting. Little did we know was that Ms. Sasha's boss was sitting at the table behind us, listening to our conversation with the front desk lady the entire time!

Finally after further heated negotiations with Ms. Sasha, she approached that very table to talk to her boss. This “boss”, showing no courtesy or proper customer service by approaching or initiating an attempt to talk with us beforehand, made the final decision - 'NO TOWELS'.

What was a real surprise to our group, according to the resort staff, was that we were not the first complainants of this no-towel policy. Such a shame that even after all the complaints before us they still did not make any changes to their policy. A good start would be to make the policy clearly visible and known to guests at the start!

The ‘boss’ said we can rent a towel for p500 (UNBELIEVABLE! Half the cost of the entrance fee!!!) or buy towels from their boutique. We were not asking for ‘luxurious’ towels by any means. We simply asked for towels for drying off after swimming at their beach.

Yes, their policy is in place albeit not clearly stated at all, but for a resort like this, the management should strive to make concessions to guests who are ill-advised about the no-towel policy from the onset, rather than charge another half of the entrance fee amount. Are they expecting all guests to surf their websites about policies prior to their visit? Other high-end resorts here and overseas have provisions for situations like this.

We were very disappointed with the upper management who acted with poor customer service - making a day-trip for visiting guests to their resort a very unenjoyable and disappointing CASH-GRAB experience!

Day tour rates (8AM to 5PM) is now at P1,000 and it's consumable (adventure activities and food). Night Tour is only at P100 which starts from 6PM to 1AM. Nothing spectacular but the food is quite good.

I've been to this quaint resort many times already since I was in grade school. The beach is always not that astounding as marketed in the ads. My visit last week was more of a business trip rather than pleasure. So now I was expecting to see it's customer service of this establishment. However getting to the resort is very difficult and at the toll gate, you'll be asked of the entrance fee of a thousand pesos. The fee itself is already ridiculous. And to think I only came in just to check their venue packages and their facilities maybe for less than 30 minutes. Even their coordinator who handles this kind of queries didn't bother to show up. And to think i'm a possible customer bringing in small revenue for their business. I didn't bother paying the amount instead I asked for their brochure and pamphlets alternatively. And since their front desk is inside the resort. It took them for more than an hour to send it to me. Ending up not recieving it at all since I was in a hurry leaving, and I have a flight to catch for Cebu City in an hour. The staff didn't respect my time at all. I just left my name and my contact details with them since the lady asked for it. And she promised to contact me very soon. And yeah it's already more than a week and they didn't bother texting me. I was actually looking for a wedding venue for my clients. Nonetheless Dakak is not a place to be for medium scaled businessmen like me. Too bad.

Last May 2008, my friends and I went to Dapitan City for a 2-day outing (despite the heavy rain & gusty wind). But still, we had GREAT FUN & ADVENTURE. On our first day went to Rizal Shrine and Glorietta at Dapitan. We spent the night at Dapitan City at a small but nice resort.

During our 2nd day, we went to Dakak Park Beach Resort for sightseeing and picture taking since most of us haven't been to Dakak. We were all very excited to see the place and had a very "bumpy" ride since the road to Dakak is currently under construction (but that was part of the adventure).

We arrive at Dakak after a 30-min bumpy ride & paid for the P200 entrance fee. We immediately toured around the place and had our picture taking. During lunchtime, 3 of my friends tried to look for a LADIES room to pee. They asked for directions from 1 of the staff. When they reached the place pointed by the staff, the lady in charge of the comfort room "ARROGANTLY ASKED" my 3 friends if they have a room reservation at Dakak. My friends were dumbfounded by her rudeness and honestly answered NO. The rude lady told them that only CHECK-IN Guests are allowed to use the said comfort room. A separate and very remote comfort room is provided for guests who are not checked in at Dakak.

There is nothing wrong with the question of having a room at Dakak. What's ABSOLUTELY WRONG is the MANNER of treating their guests. My friends don't deserve to be treated that way because they paid for their entrance and and the staff should be very polite to their guests, no matter social status they belong.

I've been to beach resorts BETTER than Dakak like in Bohol & Boracay. Customer service in those places are very good.

To the management of DAKAK, PLEASE teach your staff PROPER CUSTOMER SERVICE & COURTESY towards your guests, most especially your Utility staff assigned at the comfort rooms.

Hope it won't happen again to your future guests.

If you are looking for a place to relax and unwind this is a place. Variety of activities including pools, beach, quiet and not tourist pack resort. The food is really inexpensive here. If you are only doing a day tour the fee is consumable which basically cover your lunch (buffet) and drink. Really good for family outing. Its away from the city from noise.

I had my wedding in January 2014 of which I negotiated a year before thingking I can get the current year's rate (2013). But sadly that wasn't the case. They gave me the "proposed" (2014) rate, which was fine with me at first. But then I found out after, from a friend, that her friend is getting married in May 2014 at a lesser price than mine. I even saw the contract. It's annoying. For food tasting, they only allow 2 to get in. So we have to pay for the driver & our wedding coordinator. Their food is not good. They taste different during the actual day. There's no crew meal. So every supplier is counted as 1 guess.

Although, the place is nice for vacation, (quiet & relaxing) but not worth the price. Better go to cebu or bohol. The food is expensive. You have no choice but to buy from their restaurant. You can also tell that they don't train their staff well. You don't feel like you are in an expensive resort.

I don't think I'm going back there.

I had the spontaneous idea to give Dakak a visit when i visited Dipolog last May. A driver drove me from Dipalog to the Resort. Beside the last barrier there was a reception who looked a bit temporary. A desk with a desktop and a CC-machine. I asked the lady to show me pictures of the rooms. She couldn't show me on the desktop, i was wondering why. Instead she showed me printed pictures of the different rooms. The cheapest room was around 5'000php, the second-cheapst 6'500php. The quality of the print/picture was very bad, so i asked the lady, if it's would be possible to see the room first, if they can give me a little tour. She wasn't sure about it and called her management, asked and the response was "no, pay first then you can see the room"... this was already very arrogant but even more arrogant was that the person on the phone refused to talk directly to me and to explain me there policy. Never had such an arrogant behaviour in the Philippines before.
Rooms with rates >5000php and dont even have a professional management... hahaha... i dont know what they think who they are but dear travellers this Ressort isn't worth any visit. Never experienced such an arrogant management before. There are so many better places to visit in this beautiful country.

After having been to several resorts in the country, I would say Dakak Beach Resort was so in efficient when it comes to their services especially if you travel with a large group. We were 120 people in all and we availed of a package tour offered by Fantasyland.I can't believe it! We were at the counter at 2PM for check in but it was almost 4PM that they finally allowed us to go to our room!!!!The reason given to us was that the rooms were not ready yet!! It was so frustrating especially that there were small children who were with us.And we were not the only ones who had the same problem. Another group was also waiting for their accommodation and they were there earlier than us!!! And that was not all, when we checked out...we were hold for 2 hrs because of some problems. We were told to pay more and after some arguments and clarifications, it turned out that we even paid MORE!!!! Over all. I will NOT RECOMMEND Dakak Beach Resort especially if you are availing of the package tour offered by Fantasyland.Terrible!!!

I had reservations for our company's National Conference being held here...after reading so many bad reviews on Dakak. On arrival, I was expecting the worse, but the worse didn't come.

Alright, so it's not a 5 star over the hill, swanky resort where you'd pay more than what you'd get. But Dakak Park Beach Resort had that ambience where peace, relaxation, and some quiet time alone amidst nature beckoned the tired weary soul.

The plus side was the fact that the staff was attentive to our needs and the food was superb. Added to that were the amenities at the souvenir shops weren't highway robbery. The rooms were of 3 star category, but hey, this is Zamboanga del Norte, a peninsula on the tip of Mindanao in the Philippines! Here, you don't expect a palace, but Dakak was a kingdom nestled in the heart of a beautiful region. The climate was warm and inviting.

While Dipolog is as laid back as it could get, this should be part of anyone's travel agenda when one comes to the Philippines. After all, this country with 7107 islands isn't the archipelago with unique heritage for nothing. Come visit my country - it really is more fun and I should say, more beautiful, in the Philippines
