Dakak Park and Beach Resort is the closest place to paradise one could ever experience, with its beauty and serenity. Dakak started operating on 1988, was conveniently positioned in the southern part of the Philippines and surrounded by mountains in its west. Situated at Taguilon, Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte, Dakak tactfully eludes the typhoon belt, making it an ideal all-season destination for travelers. Dakak is the first five-star resort in Mindanao with "AAA" accreditation from the Department of Tourism, located along a private 750 meter white sand beach. From the original two (2) cottages, it has expanded into 64 cottages with 160 fully-furnished; 64 Bungalows; 98 Deluxe rooms; 2 Executive rooms; 16 Prime Deluxe rooms; 14 Beachfront rooms in native duplex type bungalows with capiz shell window panes; and three (3) Family Pavilions with 30 family rooms and one (1) Presidential Suite. Through the years, Dakak received various recognition locally and internationally among which are the Kalakbay Award for Resort on 1989 from the Philippine Department of Tourism; 16th International Award for Tourist, Hotel and Catering Industry on 1991 from the Trade Leaders Club and Editorial Office Madrid, Spain; a certificate of excellence by the Prestigious Resorts of the World on 1992; and has participated in the Dream Incentive Contest theme for the Philippines that has won the "Best Showcase 1997" in the Incentive Travel and Conventions, Meetings Asia (IT&CMA) last December 1997. Dakak Park and Beach Resort continuously strive to carry out its mission - "an abundance of recreational activities and entertainment, warm Filipino hospitality, and environment friendly ambiance."

My message to Dakak went unanswered… for 2 weeks now 1. Since not all amenities are available, in fairness, the room rates should have been reduced. Presumably, the room rate covers use of all amenities but since not all are open, a corresponding reduction should have been fairer to your patrons. 2. Toilet fixtures were broken/leaking 3. As a beach resort, it would have been nice if you provided beach slippers at least for the deluxe rooms 4. No face/hand towels were provided. It’s a standard for resorts of your category and for the price you charge. 5. Wifi was mostly unavailable/spotty 6. No beach towels in the pool - again, standard for resorts of your kind. 7. Buffet breakfast for deluxe rooms was converted to regular breakfast since, reportedly, only a few rooms were occupied. Not fair, right? #itscalledcrickets #nihaniho

The service is very bad! No welcome services! The bed and pillows were not comfortable at all. The towels are so thin it looks like a rug! The towels look very dirty. My goodness! there was only one person in your front office and took so long for my check-in. I was expecting so much from your resort! This review is coming from a manager that works in a 4 star hotel in Chicago. I just came from bawbawon island and it was perfect!

Check in was smooth and had a big and spacious room for 2 people with a very cold aircon and fluffy pillows that are really comfortable. Food was great and priced accordingly. Indeed, it is your paradise destination in the South 😊

1) The breakfast buffet was good enough. 2) Internet was very bad. Rely on your own internet. 3) Smart signal was almost non-existent. You need to bring Globe internet. 4) No tea in the room, only coffee. 5) Swimming pool was a bit on the dark side at night. Recommend that it be lighted more during operating hours. It was not that inviting to swim at night as the swimming pool was very dark. Also, it was not that clear who was the life guard. I was not sure if he was a guest or he was the lifeguard since it was pretty dark.

The rooms seem to be outdated and in need of maintenance. Unfortunately, the food provided was not up to par and the behavior of some staff members was concerning (drunk). It is inconvenient to have to wait for housekeeping to verify that nothing has been stolen or have to request a gate pass to exit the facility. While this may be acceptable for locals, it may not be suitable for most visitors. However, the beach was enjoyable and the golf course looked promising even though I didn't have the opportunity to play. The grounds were well-maintained which was a positive aspect. Overall, the experience could use some improvements to better accommodate guests.

The beach has a lot of trash. While our kids was swimming, there were shampoo sachets, sacks, plastic wrappers, plastic bottles floating everywhere. The bunk beds have cracks and not sturdy. The breakfast meal does not compensate with the price of the room that we paid for. Warning signage for jelly fish season is only visible when you pass in the middle going to the beach. It would have been better if they put warning signages on all possible entrance going to the beach. They could also place one in the reception area so that guest are already aware when they check in. There were no lifeguards stationed at the beach. We need to ask for assistance from their cleaner to look for the lifeguard when my husband was stung by a jelly fish as he was in pain. Their restaurant staff was accommodating. The nurse that assisted us in treating my husband was also accommodating and friendly. She was prompt to come to our room when we called for assistance.

Was in Dakak for 3D2N for an open water race. Rate I got was discounted because of the event. Upon seeing the place you understand why they charge those rates. The place is very clean. Staff are polite - even those who are sweeping the board walk. There are toilets situated conveniently around the resort with ample water supply, a sink with hand wash that are all maintained properly and smell nice. There were 3 pools we had access to and the biggest pool was the best! Food was not too pricey. Must try food is the one served in Sunset Cove. Kudos to the chef! Il Patio (the Italian restaurant) could have used a few more Italian food stapled (bolognese for one) but all in all food is generally good and not too pricey. Things to improve on: booking protocol and the price of airport pickup/drop-off transportation. It's a good place to stay at with your family. There's something everyone from kids to the old folks.

Dakak was one of the highlights of our trip to the Zamboanga peninsula. Since our time was limited, we opted for a day tour. We had our own car when we visited Dakak. We figured that it may not be too convenient to visit if we will take public transportation. There was hardly any public transportation going to the resort, and it was quite a distance from the resort entrance to the front desk (albeit I am not sure if the resort provides transfers to and from the entrance). Their Facebook page is responsive and provided me with plenty of information prior to our trip. We paid Php 750 per head for the entrance, inclusive of the Php 250 consumable per person for food at the restaurants and bars inside the resort. The entrance fee for the day tour is paid at the guard house boom bar; they only accept cash. We also availed of the Zipline and Horseback Riding package. (Zipline alone was 550; Horseback riding alone was 650; the two combined in a package was 900--a savings of 300). We paid for the activities at the Front Desk Cashier-- here, they have more payment options including Gcash and credit card. The service shuttle brought us to the Dakak Adventure Park--about two kilometers away from the resort proper-- where the activities are done. The Horseback Riding and Zipline areas were about a kilometer apart, but it was convenient going from one place to another because of the free shuttle service. The Zipline landing area is near the Dakak Chapel, not far from the Front Desk. The personnel at the Dakak Adventure Park were very courteous and reassuring. They were knowledgeable on how to assist guests who have bags, etc. that they may need to secure on their person during the activities. They made sure that we were comfortable while riding the horse and while positioning ourselves for the Superman pose for the zipline. We had lunch at Sea Catch, the restaurant overlooking the bay. We had Beef Souvlaki, Ceviche, and Seafood Kebab. The serving size was ample. The souvlaki was served medium. We loved the food, especially the ceviche. The PWD discount was applied to our purchase. There is a gift shop in the resort where swimming attire, souvenirs, and toiletries can be purchased. The beach was magnificent. The water was calm and crystal clear, its warmth was just right; the sand was fine; the sky was perfect. Our trip was last March 23, a Thursday. It was off-season and a weekday at that. We had the beach to ourselves for most of the afternoon. Tongue-in-cheek, it was as if we booked the whole resort for ourselves. Since there was hardly anyone else around, we had no trouble leaving our belongings on the lounge chairs at the beach. The parking area was not too far away though if you are concerned about the safety of your personal belongings. There were three pools as well, and we had two of these to ourselves as well. There were other day tour guests at the largest pool, the Dolphin Pool. Despite the low number of guests using the pools. there were lifeguards on duty all the time. There were shower rooms scattered throughout the resort although I imagine them to have lines once the resort is at full capacity. We left a few minutes before 5 pm after we took a shower. Dakak is definitely one of the places that I yearn to return to.
