Detailed Reviews
Dapitan Beach Resort hotel (a.k.a. Pavilion Hotel) is on Sunset
Boulevard, facing a very long white sand beach.
The hotel was built maybe 15 years ago, by the local municipal government, splashing out millions of $ of borrowed money to promote tourism.
Sadly there has been no maintainance since then; it's all in desparate need of a coat of fresh paint and some TLC. Despite that, the rooms are still magnificent, in size and furninshings, especially for this part of the world! All rooms have aircon; prices from PhP1600 (US$30) - which is a real bargain for this level of luxury.
However, the bathrooms are very tired now, with cracked / scratched / broken fittings. Surely a little renovation could restore all to its original luxury?
There is a good swimming pool. That at least is maintained and cleaned regularly.
Service is highly attentive (there must be at least 50 staff (all government employees!) for just 24 rooms.
Get there by bus, from Dipolog to the west, or from Ozamis to the east; or come by ferry ship from other islands, docking at the local Dipolog/Dapitan pier.
Motortrycles will take you the last km or two of the way from the Highway for Php50 or so.
The restaurant at the hotel is OK; there are quite a few better places to eat along Sunset Boulevard, along the back of the beach.

My wife and I had been there last november 2, room 101 is big enough, the place is nice, but the maintenance of the hotel is poor. We checked in at around 4pm and requested to turn on the aircondition unit and went out with friends, after 5 hours we came to sleep but unfortunately, the room is not cold, so we decided to tranfer to another room in the middle of the night.it's a good thing that hotel is not fully booked. At last we fell sleep at 2 am. The following morning, we checked out and looked for another hotel.

Dapitan City resort hotel was once the pride of Dapitan way back in the late 90's. My sister celebrated her wedding at this hotel, it was very splended and I was so proud of it. But with the current administration of government, maintainance has been so low, paintings had faded, resto bars closed, services has been poor, room rates are much higher than Dakak. I only hope that something is to be done to turn this Hotel to it's glory day's...

Some people just don't get the shabby - chic style at all.
It's all about the faded, worn-out, well-used, but still good and functional stuff, all around us all of the time. Well-worn; well-loved, perhaps faded; perhaps in need of more TLC...
But places like Dapitan City Resort Hotel (aka Pavilion Hotel) are still close to my heart.
My wife & I first visited and stayed for our honeymoon, 12 years ago.
We returned for a short stay 3 years ago.
And back again this summer, for a longer 10-day stay.
It's still just the same, maybe a few more water leak stains on the ceilings; maybe a few more cracked tiles in the bathrooms, maybe a bit more peeled off paintwork - but all this really doesn't matter.
It's located on Sunset Boulevard, which runs along a 3 mile long stretch of white(ish) sand beach. There's lots of other good restaurants and cafes to eat in, if you get bored with the hotel menu (which isn't that bad anyway)
Room prices are exactly the same as 3 years ago - quite amazing; as the Philippines has suffedered significant price inflation recently (haven't we all?) Big aircon double rooms are still Php 1650 / night (UK £23.00 - about $30.00) Add a couple of US$ for brekfast served to the swimmingpool-side table, just infront of your balcony room and who is complaining?

If you're in Dapitan on a backpacker's budget, you might wanna consider this hotel. yes' it's old, the food and service is a 2.5 out of 5 but as for the price, you get more than you paid. In case you are in a group of 5 or more, they have this dormitory room for P300 per person only!
So here's the deal, if you’re expecting a resort that will give you loads of things to do, this isn’t the one-go to Dakak but if you plan to wander around Dapitan or Dipolog and only needs a place to sleep, this is the perfect place.
Their staff is not that well trained but they will try their best to address your concerns. Hotel rules are lenient as far as bringing of food or drinks goes and number of persons in a room. Just don’t be obvious, I guess.
Google the phone number, they accept reservations without partial payments.

I can still remember when my family were always here for special celebrations and weekend get-together. Great memories were created. My Tita's wedding reception was painted red here. The must-tried morning breakfast was always craved.
But, when I get back here mid 2014, it was totally the opposite that my eyes have seen. The façade needs repaint. The lobby needs new sets of furniture. The reception needs people. The comfort room needs new toiletries. The rooms needs redesign and update. The grounds needs new landscape. The function halls need refurbishment. In general, the property needs facelift, reconstruction, and recondition.

The staff were courteous and helpfull. Room was clean and the pool was available until midnight.
The place needs a little renovating to restor it to at least a 4 star hotel. Not a bad place to spend the night
