Battaleys Mews is made up of approx. 35 town houses in a quite area in St Peters. We came accross the houses when searching for a last minute holiday to Barbados and this accommodation looked very inviting, the photos were great it came with a full kitchen washing machine/dryer, dish washer and even included a private plunge pool in your garden which was very handy when mum and dad are not quite ready for the swimming pool or beach. The staff are lovely - Freda you are a star! Nothing was too much trouble and the little you did ask for (e.g extra beach towel) was done in an instant.
Battaleys is just a short stroll (5 minutes max.) to Mullins Beach which offers lovely calm and safe swimming with sunbeds bought for approx. BDS 20.00 for 2 beds and an umbrella. There is a small shop which sells drinks, snacks and ice lollies as well as a stall that offers sun dresses, wraps and inflatables. There is a white catering van who normanlly parks by the side of the Texaco petrol station from 12noon daily where you can buy home cooked lunch, salads and drinks - very handy as it's just accross the road from the beach and down the road from Battaleys. Driving around the island is very straight forward and the use of a GPS or Sat nav is pretty much an unrequired tool as the map from Barbados in a Nutshell ( available everywhere F.O.C) is more than enough to get you around. We travelled with our two children aged 12 and 9 and the location of Battaleys was ideal for getting around not too far from anything a 20 minute drive to Bridgetown, 10 mins to Holetown and 2 minutes from Speightstown.
The two memorable meals we had whilst on this holiday were at the Elbow Room in Holetown and my favourite was Tapas in Hastings, great food, great atmosphere absolutely perfect.
We have been to Barbados many times and I have to say nowhere has been as brilliant as Battaleys Mews. We can't wait to go back!

The property is in the nature of a gated community but not all the units were sold due to the recession. So this presents the opportunity to rent the remaining units.

We were delighted by the standard of the accomodation. Rooms were very large for 2 people and there is a big open-plan diner, living room & kitchen on the ground floor plus a large downstairs loo. Dishwasher and washing machine are also provided. Cable TV is available and at the time of writing our villla No. 8 did have Wi-Fi but this was not advertised as it is not available in all the units.

Upstairs the master bedroom with en-suite this was huge, air conditioned with dual wash basins, large shower and bath.

As we had only booked for 2 the other 2 bedrooms were locked so I can't review these but the bathroom for this was well appointed with shower sink and WC. Housekeeping maids visit daily weekdays and replace beachtowels each day.

Villas are terraced, ours was end of terrace, Each villa has it's own small garden witth tropical plants which are tended daily and there is outdoor furniture for relaxing along with a plunge pool for when it gets too hot!

There is a clubhouse with a bar which was never open when we were there. The pool however is large c.14m long and there is a small one for tots. When we were there there were seldom more than 2 other parties with us. Occupancy was between 30-50% in both the owned and rented properties.

All the staff were very accommodating and they delivered all requests we made. Also when we wanted information their knowledge was spot on. We used the car-hire firm the company recommended after establishing the rates were compettive (which they were.)

The beach at Mullins is compact but bigger than it first appears from the road. To walk there is about 5 mins from Battalays. Beach vendors, bpat trip and swag sellers will approach you on the beach but we found them to be polite and take a no in good humour.

To the north side of the beach there is some intersting snorkelling over the rocks just off the villas there. There are chair and umbrellas for hire and the beach bar run by the Royal Westmoreland runs a waiter service on the beach for the essential cold beers from their beach bar which later converts to a restaraunt after dark.

Lunchtimes there is a also a white "greedy van", that parks between the LIME Telcom depot and the Texaco gas station (not quite as urban as it sounds!) lunchtimes and serves the unbiquitous maccaroni pie, bbq chicken & picked pork in polystyrene cartons, all highly recommended. The gas station is useful for top up items as it has a mini-mart inside and an ATM.

Nearby there is also Bombas restaraunt which has a limited menu but a great beachfront setting if the decking was a little trampolining in character!

Luxury at a reasonable price we recommend Battalays Mews for anyone one looking for a Barbados self catering option.

Great place to stay on holiday. Villas are really nice and clean as well as the garden and surrounding area. the villa includes kitchens with a dishwasher, washing machine, ovens and kithen utensils. There is also a TV and free Wifi in lobby. Staff are really friendly, a lady called Niska really helped us out with the various questions we had as it was our first trip to barbados. She even organised a taxi for us to our taxi on the way back to the airport after the holiday. At night time security normally checks the back gardens and entrances but as Barbados has low crime levels anyway all you need is a bit of common sense like lock doors and windows if you are leaving the villa. The villa is about 5 minutes walk from Mullins beach which is handy. It is a bit of a distance from any major town to enjoy night life but its no hard to jump in a bus and be somewhere within 30-40 mins (costs about 2 barbadian dollars)

Booked One Battaleys Mews with Airbnb in June 2021 for a two week break late March 2022. 4 weeks before our travel date we received an email cancelling the booking. We struggled to find alternative accomodation at short notice. Very disappointing is putting it mildly!

This place is a true hidden gem! It is totally fantastic - everyone would love it. I really felt totally at home at the Battaleys Mews and I almost wanted to cry when I had to leave. The location is totally fabulous for relaxing on the beach – it is a five minute walk from a beautiful stretch of public beach, just stunning, most of the hotels along the beach are really expensive - you could walk either direction along the beach for miles and it is all pristine white sand and stunning turquoise water. The road along the beach is lined with private estates and rental properties (instead of rowdy, noisy resorts) so the beach practically private! If you rent a car, which you must for at least a few days – but do it in advance because the cars run out fast - then you can check out the Bathsheba area and the rocky east coast which is just beautiful. In terms of the property itself, we booked what we thought would be a one bedroom condo and were totally surprised to find out we had a huge three bedroom, two story, three bathroom townhouse all to ourselves with luxury finishes and stainless steel appliances in the kitchen. Barbados is a really expensive island – eating out is very pricey, with main courses at most restaurants costing about $30 - $50 US - getting a luxurious and very large townhouse with a great kitchen for cooking in, all for under $200 per night including tax and including daily maid service was really a steal. The extra two bedrooms were locked of course because we only paid for one bedroom. There were a few small things that were not really bad, just if I had to point out some drawbacks I’d mention the following things. Firstly, the maid service isn’t every day but she comes most days, while it is quite a bonus to get maid service in a rental property, she doesn’t replenish things like toilet paper, soap, dishwasher detergent etc. when they run out. That was just unnecessarily inconvenient, so it would be best to bring these items plus shampoo and conditioner etc. from home. Secondly, there is not much in terms of restaurants or night life within walking distance. Holetown and Speightstown are not too far away – but you need to drive or take the bus (or a taxi). Holetown has a little bit of nightlife and some nice restaurants for sure, but the of Battaleys Mews location isn’t like the St. Lawrence Gap area or anything, it is much more laid back – much better for couples and families versus people wanting to party. Thirdly, the concierge isn’t actually located at the property – she is only availably by phone or email. Lastly, the taxi from the airport is about $35 US - no sense paying more to book through the hotel and also, ordering groceries through the hotel isn’t really worth the delivery charge or the extra costs – there is a 24 hour gas station at the end of the road with the basics and two grocery stores not far away. Oh and lastly, again if I just had to complain about something, the beds are quite hard and the air conditioning is only in the bedrooms (not downstairs).

My family and I spent over 700 CAN $ per night x 9 nights at Battaleys Mews from December 27th to January 5th; their website and the travel agency indicate the following Resort Amenities : 1) a bistro offering breakfast, lunch and dinner and 2) a bar offering cocktail creations; both were closed; raison : not enough customers on the resort.

My reservation was made in April 2014 based on their website and the Travel Agency documentation; I feel like I've been screwed by the Hotel. No compensation was offered. Be advised before to make a reservation to this hotel

We stayed here for our honeymoon in December 2011, upon arrival we were given a 3 bed town house, which was a pleasant surprise as we had only booked a 1 bedroom apartment (ebookers.com). there are about 30 town houses in a little gated community 5 minutes walk from mullins beach, the location was great for exploring the island, but too far away if you want nightlife, choose one of the bigger towns for this.
The resort itself was lovely, houses very clean, staff very nice, the houses had everything you could need and felt like a home from home. you had everything you needed if you choose to cook meals at home, the facilities of the house were great, Dishwasher, Washing machine, Grill, Hob, Oven, Microwave, aircon upstairs, but fans downstairs.

Highly recommend for families and couples alike.

Value for money is certainly good, especially given the generally pricey West Coast. Battaleys Mews is situated around five minutes away from Mullins Beach, and the neighbourhood is relatively safe and quiet. The town houses are very specious (around 200 sqm with two full bathrooms and an extra guest restroom on the ground level).

One major complaint though was the awful water pressure in the showers, one hardly working at all and the other one just about functioning to an acceptable level.

The only other shortfall is that there is no wireless network coverage in the villas, so one has to venture to the clubhouse to go online. There are often people with kids by the pool, so clearly not very ideal for those needing to work. The crowd staying in the development is a mix between house owners, long-term occupants and holiday guests.

Battaleys Mews is overall worth considering if you get a good deal and are not in need of a full-service hotel establishment.

We stumbled upon Battaleys Mews on our last trip to Barbados and now found it on Expedia and booked it for a short trip with the family. It was ideal for us and the kids, the rooms are big and you have all the essential things you need, even a washer and dryer. The community is lovely with the pool and the bar - we often got drinks there in the afternoon while the kids played in the pool. And the beach at Mullins is near enough to walk, so we often went there for a swim and in the evenings for the amazing sunsets.
The staff was very friendly and gave us great tips for restaurants and activities. They have a concierge who booked us a zip line course and a sailing trip where we saw turtles.

Battaleys was great all around - but next time we're coming back just my husband and I. :)

We booked this place via 3rd part website , what we had was an amazing town house with a jacuzzi and a beautifully kept garden , What we paid and what we got where worlds apart , having just come of a silverseas cruise our expectations where not to high , but how wrong we where ,the welcoming from frieda was very professional and she was so so friendly , .I then met Steve the barman , What he doesn't know about Barbados isn't worth knowing , he gave us so much information about the island , although i tend to ask so many question before wife kicks me , Steve was more than happy to answer them , the whole place and the people who work there are true embaserdors for Barbados, The town house was clean and well furnished to a high slandered , the bar area and swimming pool are not to large but are adequate . This place is a hidden gem , book it you won't be disappointed, i
