Where were the staff? We tried to check in at 4.00 pm but there were not staff anywhere. We rang the buzzer several times and after 15 minutes, one staff member turned up. A sort of apology to the effect that her buzzer receiver was not responding to the Reception one. She also seemed to be the only staff member around until just before the restaurant opened at 7.00 pm, when several restaurant staff arrived.

We had stayed at this hotel many years ago and had forgotten how small the rooms were. As Gold members of ACCOR, we were upgraded to a privilege room, but same size as ever other room but we did have a Nespresso machine which we never use! The pillows were either hard as rock or as flat as can be, most uncomfortable all round. IBIS and Campanile rooms are about the same size as these and half the price. it was particularly disappointing because the previous night we had stayed at Val de Reuill Mercure, near Rouen and what a difference. No comparison at all, just as different as chalk and cheese.

There is not much wrong but the trouble with staying on a Sunday evening is that it is very quiet (restaurant is shut). But, nevermind, the bar was open and we were able to get a drink before eating out at restaurant very close by. The first issue was that my red wine was stale/corked as it came from an open bottle. I pointed this out and the lady was very reluctant to open another bottle. It seemed like she did not beleive me! Our room was comfortable enough but the hotel needs a refurb. It was just a little bit tired with peeling paint in the bathroom and old flooring etc etc. We use Accor hotels a lot - this one needs some work.

Good situation, in nice surroundings, close to A20 but no road noise either inside or out on the terrace or in the pool. Very attentive front of house staff with pleasant attitudes. Good English used when necessary. Room was adequate in size and well serviced by the domestic staff. No drawers for clothing so you live out of your suitcase which isn’t great if staying several days. Restaurant and bar very good although lunch and evening meal every day was the same menu. Hey Brive has loads of cafes and restaurants! Would I stay again? Yes most definitely.

We were so frustrated by recent experiences at Novotels we were wondering where to stay on our journeys through France. We have passed so many dilapidated or closed hotels the choice seems to be getting smaller each year.
A chance view from Autoroute A20 passing Brive la Gaillarde saw this Mercure . We immediately booked it for the return journey. What a absolute gem this hotel is. Visible from J50 A20 yet with quadruple glazing and set in a beautiful park you could be anywhere. Rooms are very comfortable and better than current Novotels.
The staff are very professional and know what they are doing. The kitchen produces a tempting menu of delightful food; fresh and full of taste. The wine list, whilst compact, offered excellent choice.
And for all you EV drivers there is a forest of charging points.
This is our new stopping off point between Saint Malo and the southern Cevennes.
Book now you won’t be disappointed.
PS make sure the address is in satnav as the route from junction 50 is a little complicated but worthwhile.

Arrived at 11pm. We’re stopping for an overnight stop-over while on our way back from Biscarrosse to Lyon Airport.

No carpark left and we were told to park at the hotel next door, Hotel F1, which look dodgy.. knowing we have a rent car to take care of and two luggages to leave in the car, and having to push our baby stroller all the way to reception in the dark.. while so many Tesla carpark was left empty. Anyway ... 🙄

Staff could reply simple English but leaves no room to ask complex request, it will not work out well.

Requested a baby cot while doing online booking and all we got is a half broken cot which could close itself anytime on our baby. So the broken baby cot did took so much space in the small tiny room; which was left unused.

Breakfast was simple - croissant, coffee and orange juice is good. Easy check-out. Getting out of the route and driving back on highway was easy.

Mostly personnels traveling for business can be seen on breakfast table. Not sure who patronises the pool. One night stay is good enough. Definitely not a place for two nights stay on my list!

Good to get to by car, near main routes. Very helpful receptionist who apologised for the lack of evening meal availability but went out of his way to arrange good value transport into Brive and advised on local restaurants.
Well maintained, clean hotel with good breakfast choices. The newly installed electric car charging points will be a bonus for some motorists.

We had reserved at the Ibis in Brive; however, it turned out to be a dump; So we asked if there was another Accor property and were directed to the Mercure just outside of Brive.
What a pleasant surprise...excellent welcome, spotless modern room, great beds, large bathroom, quiet location. Supper was very tasty and the chef even made a simple salad which was not on the menu. As we are over 65, breakfast was complimentary and plentiful.
A great spot for overnight or longer. Wish we could have used the lovely pool.

Sat nav. had difficulty locating this hotel, yet it is very convenient off J51 by the A20. We wasted nearly an hour looking! (Should have entered USSAC). We found all the staff excellent and attentive to our needs. A very nice swimming pool and general outlook. No noticeable traffic noise. We had an excellent evening meal and breakfast, much better than in a Novotel the following night. Also much more reasonable in price at £142 dinner, bed and breakfast.

This is an excellent choice for the business traveller. Clean, efficient, well managed, excellent Restàurant. The hotel understands what it is and makes no pretensions to be something else. It also has 8 superchargers for your Tesla, and facilities for other electric cars.

Service as fine and welcoming. The room was clean and tidy with good facilities. Restaurant much improved on last year and a vegetarian choice which was much appreciated. The rebuilding from last year is now finished and the changes are very beneficial.

"Noise: if you close the windows it is very silent, my room was facing the parking, and with a window open for fresher air, there was a lot of noise from some ventilation unit downstairs. I recommend a room on the other side of the building."
