Travel Going to the Resort:
For those coming off from Manila, please prepare for a long ride (We left at Eton Centris @0700), this is approximately 290 km from Balintawak Exit of NLEX. We only had two stops:
•Petron Lakeshore (After San Fernando Exit)
•Roadside @100kms pt. remaining on Waze Application.
Stay at the Resort:
No fancy welcome, you will need to go to the Information Center, get your keys and you will be guided by the resort management. We have stayed in rooms 3 & 4 of the St. Rose Building. The rooms is okay for me, a little bit expensive for what you get, these are simple room with TV, Air-conditioner, Fan, Water Heater (In CR and for boiling of water). There are 4 complimentary bottles water and coffee. Anyways, let me slice it down in terms of room so you will get more simple overview of what you will expect:
• Room Space - 3.5/5 (18 sq. m.)
• Air-conditioning – 5/5 (it is not that cold and not that hot, it is just perfect)
• Bed - 2/5 (Foams are not that soft)
• Pillows - 2 out 5 ( You only get 1 pillow per person and a single blanket per bed - so make sure you are comfortable on whoever you are sharing your bed)
• Cable TV - 1.5/5 (The signal is breaking and you can’t understand what you are watching)
• High Valuable Safe - 4/5 (they don’t have a state of the art safes that most resorts have but they do have a specific area on the cabinet side that you can use as a safe as it has keys to lock it)
• Value for Money - 2.5/5 (I’ve been to many resorts and this is just not so worthy of money that you can get for a 5k rooms.
So overall, i am giving the room a score of 2.93 out of 5.
Now let’s go to the foods, the resort has a restaurant within the vicinity, the restaurant crew are fun to talk with, this will be the highlight of this review as the hospitality is natural and not forced. On the food, these are the list of what we have ordered on the first day of stay:
•Inihaw na Bangus - 5/5 ( P300)
•Bicol Express - 3/5 (P380)
•Sinigang na Baboy - 3/5 (P400)
•Sinigang na Bangus Belly - 3/5 (P400)
•Pork Sisig - 3/5 (P280)
You have free breakfast every morning. It is not a buffet type so don’t expect much, they offer 4 meals (Tapsilog, Longsilog, Tocilog, Bangsilog). Overall view for the restaurant and menu as below:
• Cleanliness - 4.5/5
• Food Quality - 4/5
• Restaurant Staff - 5 out 5
• Menu - 3/5
• Price - 2/5
• Value for Money - 3/5
So overall I am giving the restaurant a score of 3.58 out of 5.
Now let’s go to the swimming pool and other facilities such as church, basketball court, et al. So this is the upside of this resort, you have all these team-building and family type of activities that can be done during your stay. Overall the pool is well maintained. Overall view of the swimming pool:
• Cleanliness – 4.5/5
• Water Quality – 4.5/5
• Size – 4.5/5
• Safety – 1/5 (There are no life guards)
• Availability – 5/5
For the other facilities here are the numbers:
• Cleanliness – 4.5/5
• Quality – 4.5/5
• Size – 4.5/5
• Safety – 5/5
• Availability – 5/5
Overall, I am giving a score of 4.3/5, the only downside is there are no lifeguards on the pool, if you are bringing kids, make sure you accompany them.
The beach, so the beach in front of the resort is not desirable to swim due to its depth, you need to go around a kilometer just to pass a waist high water. As it was never the famous Patar Beach, it is understandable and giving this a rating of 3/5. I will write another review on the Patar Beach so make sure you check it out.
Overall, I am giving the whole resort a score of 3.45 out of 5. The resort is average but it is welcoming and hospitable to customers. Oh by the way, I forgot to mention that Villa Soledad is in the middle of all the tourist spots in Bolinao. So if you are planning to go for a vacation and have different activities and don’t want to go to the normal tourist and summer destinations, I highly recommend this place.
PS. As initially mentioned, the low ratings are deemed as “Rooms for Improvement”, and not to paint some bad image to the resort. Me and my friends just have the most wonderful summer getaway this year.

-Clean
-Big swimming pools. (The pools are full of kids from outside in the morning, SO I suggest night swimming)
-Very kind Owner / Staff
-Had generator power while blackout
-Room windows couldn't be locked so they had a small drawer with a key and lock to store your valuables
-Air condition was poor. Good thing there were ceiling fans to keep air flow
-The big rooms good for 6 people didn't have any towels. I asked the owner to supply us some towels and she said "because it is a BUDGET room, we charge Php50 per towel".
-Bathroom for the 6pax was small. Yup, budget room.
-There was a grill right out of your room to be shared with four other rooms. (Our neighbors were kind enough to lend us everything)
-The stove right next to the grill when needed is paid Php500 a SINGLE NIGHT. (Since we didn't see the point in paying 500 pesos for a single use, we had our rice cooked by the cafeteria and paid Php50 with our own rice)
-We also had to buy our own cooler because having them keep our meet in their freezer would cost Php 500 a night as well (Trust me guys, might as well camp!)
-Having breakfast at their cafeteria (which was this huge square room) did not go so well too, tocilog/longsilog/tapasilog etc... would cost you Php100 each. If you plan to eat outside of the cafeteria close the pool it would cost you plus 15% of your bill. So a table 2 meters away from the cafeteria is a no go, I say choose the farthest one. That's what we did.
-Cafeteria Staff were very kind!
-I don't really go online during a vacation but some just can't resist their social media accounts and so my friends stayed up all night in the reception area where wifi was available for free.
-The reception area had a little convenience store inside. My nephew forgot to bring a toothbrush and so we went up to the lady and bought one which cost us a hundred pesos.
-Water for bathing was salty (of course)
-The famous white beach was a 10min drive away accdg to owner but it was more 20mins. the road wasn't fully developed yet and so driving was a tad bit rough
-We stayed there for 3 days but 2 of our friends had to go ahead because they couldn't take it.
I used to volunteer a lot and involve myself in immersions etc...More so, I'm used to low budget hotels and camping with groups but this by far is the worst experience. I'd rather stay in a really cheap hotel and not pay so much than stay in a CHEAPER hotel and PAY SO MUCH MORE.
Although I have to say that the staff was very kind.
Still, won't go back.
I always like to start off with the positives of any property. The 2 pools at this hotel are pretty nice. They are large and nicely decorated.
Unfortunately that's the only good thing I can think of for this hotel.
Stayed here for 2 nights over a weekend. We were the only guests. Yes, that's right. There was no-one else at the resort other than staff.
Upon checkin the front desk person looked shocked to see us. They didn't expect us. We had to prove we had a reservation which was not a very friendly way to start. After showing our confirmed booking we were allowed to check-in. One thing to note is we paid what I expect is full-rate (4800P per night). Ridiculous rate for this hotel.
The rooms are really, really basic. The beds had a fitted sheet but no top sheet. Just a rough blanket.. The AC is a wall mount unit, not a split level unit. It could not cool the room more than a few degrees even in such a tiny room.
Went to dinner at restaurant. The inside had no open windows. Lots of fans and AC units but the single person working there would only turn on 1 fan. It was super hot! It took more than 1 hour to get our food despite us being the only guests in the entire resort.
Next morning we had "breakfast" which consisted of a choice of 4 food items and 2 drink choices. The beef tapa was 3 spoonfuls of "beef" and some rice. Ordered "coffee" and was served a package of instant coffee without even hot water or a cup.
Staff were pretty unhappy. Not once did any say "hello".
The funny thing about the pools is that literally every tree around the pools had a sign with some kind of rule printed on it. The rules varried from "No jumping" to "Do not pee in our pool". It was kind of oppressive to be surrounded by rules on every tree. Kinda like I image prison would be like without the pool.
No WiFi in the rooms. Supposedly they have wifi in restaruant but it never worked for me.
Upon checkout we were charged for breakfast despite that being included in our rate. Unfortunately our confirmation did not show it so we just payed the extra requested. Between the full nightly rate we paid and that we felt totally ripped off.
The resort is very near a lot of tourist spots like Enchanted Cave, Patar Public Beach, The LightHouse, and the Rock Formation. The resort also has 3 pools so you wont worry about overcrowding. The pools has slides and fountains, basketball court, tennis court, mini store, church and its beachfront so in case, you wanted to go for a quick at the beach, you can few steps outside the resort. The staff are also very friendly and they wanted to play with our dogs. During our first night, we had trouble with the tv and the shower, we reported it to their receptionist and they were able to fix it quickly.
I would like to definitely come back. This resort is one of the best resort we had to stay in and the best part, we got to play with our son and with our 3 dogs.
We booked the St.anthony room. It has a double bed and ac. The bed has two pillows and the mattress was not the soft but good to sleep in. The room has two chairs and a table inside the room.
For the restroom. For me, I have a high standard for restrooms. So for me it was not so good. There is a pail and shower. It was clean but like house clean not hotel clean.
They are nice enough to deliver all our food in our room. Last order was 9pm. But if you want to have your breakfast early tell them ahead of time. i love the pansit guisado good for 2-3 pax. We had tapsilog and tocino for breakfast, it was good.
The resort has three pools. One for the kids and two for adults. The pool again was clean but not super clean. It has a blue line for the 6ft part of the pool . The water was warm. In the evening they have lights around the pool.
Personally I dont like the beach near the resort you have to walk across the road to go there but it was not far. It was rocky but clean.
The resort was 15-20 mins away from the famous Patar beach. The road to Patar beach was rocky but some part were fixed.
The service was great. They were accomodating.
thank ate josie!
If youre on a budget and wants a place to stay minutes away from the Patar beach this is the place but I suggest if you want to stay near Patar beach choose another resort.
