This is my second time to visit the resort. The first time we got there in 2014, we had a good experience that's why I planned to bring my family there the following year. I made the reservation as early as November 2014, booked Jireh 1 and Axelo because we are a group of 16, including the driver. Jireh 1 is limited 12 pax only, but can be maxed out to 14 pax, according to the resort agent and their site. Their rules and regulations stated to pay in full, so I did to secure the Accommodation.

Now, come January 2015, we arrived to the resort. It was January, which was close to lean season so to speak, there were not so many guests. Aside from the other family, the other group of people were just our family.

A. ROOM ASSIGNMENTS - Jireh 1, the room in the newer cottage was good in terms of bed spacing for 12 pax, but to fit 14 pax, I'm not sure where they could fit the additional beds since it was already cramped for 12. The common area is spacious, they provided refrigerator and clean water to drink (+1 for the drinking water) The door knobs, if not lacking, is as always (just like when we first visited the resort) are broken. The comfort room in Jireh 1 has the toilet and bath separated, both a big disappointment: broken door knobs, no bulbs, no hot water (it was January and the room is air-conditioned so imagine how hard it is to take a shower), both cubicles looked unfinished and was left undone so they can offer Jireh 1 for big groups.

Axelo room on the other hand is from the older builder so I expect the same condition as Amara (the one we booked when we first visited the resort). This room is spacious and has two queen beds, one of the queen bed's frame has a bunk bed steel frame so all in all, good for 5 pax. Just make sure that the person to use the top bed is light because the bed frame is wobbly. The room, lacks proper lighting, one that lit even flickered. I asked Kuya Bong to replace the flickering bulb, he replaced it in the evening. Mabait yun talaga.

FOOD - They have the menu, but best to ask them if you can cook your own food, most especially if the accommodation you got has a kitchenette. Take into account that Bolinao is not as progressive as Baler, in Aurora. Research first where you can eat, and ask them if you can bring in your own food if they could not provide it. Most shops are closed by 8PM. By shops, they could be carinderia, eatery, mini-restaurants. I'm not sure about their policy on Casa Almarenzo, but when we asked if we can still order food at 6:30PM, they do not have anything to offer.

AMENITIES - Bolinao shorelines are not for swimming, except if you are in the area of Patar White Beach. Casa Almarenzo offers pool for kids and adults (4 ft deep).
There was a videoke in top floor of the older building. So if you are going to book the Axelo room (located in 2nd floor of the white building), you'll hear them.

CUSTOMER SERVICE - Kuya Bong is as always commendable.

===========

OVERALL:
1. Early booking does not always equate to better services. Reconfirm your booking and reconfirm your advance food order before you head there.

2. As per my family's observation, the staff and crew are a little hard to look for. It could have been better if they could provide an intercom inside the building at least, if not in every room.

3. As I've mentioned we already visited the place in 2014 (a group of 4 pax only), and returned in January 2015 with a larger group of guests. It gave me an impression that they could not handle bigger crowds. The only compensation is that Kuya Bong is courteous if he is around. Perhaps they could train the rest of the staff to be less aloof to guests.

4. I learned my lesson not to fully trust website galleries. Asked the basics, especially if it's not in the picture or not mentioned in the room details. For example, if you visited during the cold months of January and February, hot shower is a plus, especially if you are coming with an elderly and toddlers.

5. No WIFI in Jireh area. This is just an FYI, because for me, it's okay. Because I'd rather enjoy the view and the vacation.

6. They say that as a traveller, I should manage my expections. However, I paid Php10,000.00 for Jireh 1, and found that the tv has no reception, the shower cubicle does not have lighting and the toilet has broken knob.

The room is for 12, they could've provided 12 towels at least, mahal na rin yung 10k para sa isang dormitory. Also, I hope they could increase the number of complimentary breakfast for a group of 12. My family enjoyed the view, and since the enjoyable company was more important than anything, we were able to disregard those disappointments. Pero hindi biro ang Php13,500, mga ma'am at sir. Kaya sana ayusin nyo na po yung mga kulang.

Worth the 6hrs drive from Taguig. Easy to locate using Waze or Google Map apps.
If you want a place away from hustle and bustle city life, this is where you should stay. This is near to Bolinao falls, Patar Beach etc.
We enjoyed their infinity pool and the sea breeze is so relaxing. I will surely recommend this to friends and family. The booking includes FREE Breakfast!! thanks!!
I just hope they will serve Lunch and Dinner for the guests . Add more choices of beverage like more variety of Beers and Soda, maybe some Chips and maybe some sandwiches for the kids who don't want to go out of the pool.🤣
Overall, this is great place to stay in Bolinao.
Commend to their Staffs who are very accommodating and never missed to put that smile always 😉. More power!

Just got back yesterday (April 2) from a 3d/2n stay at Casa Almarenzo. Trip advisor helped me a lot in looking for a place in Bolinao that will accommodate a family group of 13. So in return, I am writing a review to help those like me who depends on this site to have a worthwhile vacation/break. With less regrets, hehe. I will just enumerate below the pros and cons to make this review easier to read:

PROS:
1. True that they are very prompt in replying to inquiries. Very polite, friendly and accommodating even in my request re terms of payment before arrival.
2. Day before arrival I asked them to send me a text with the directions/landmarks we should look for going to the resort and they were able to give me clear instructions
3. Kuya Bong answers the phone everytime I call on the way to the resort for more directions/info on how to get there
4. They offered two rooms to accommodate our group. I wanted a room for a big group and a small room for me and my son, tho it is on diff buildings, it was not much of a hassle for me and it worked fine.
5. I can honestly say that it was about 1k per person per night, twas worth it, but of course, for that kind of price, please lower your expectations, people ;)
6. Rooms look and smell clean. Bed is ok. Clean towels are provided. I didn't notice any mosquitoes even outside which is a good thing.
7. Breakfast free for only 6 pax (there were 13 of us). p150 for additional person to avail breakfast (which I find a bit steep for the limited choices of cornsilog and danggitsilog). We availed the free breakfast but we brought our own food like cup noodles, bread, 3-in-1 coffee so we don't have to pay the rest. Most of us are not used to eating full meals for breakfast anyways, so that was enough. They provide water dispensers that has cold and hot water.
8. We were told that they only allow bbqs or grilling food because of an incident with one guest that almost burned the place down. But we always bring our small butane gas stove and was able to use it in the kitchen outside. I appreciate the staff for allowing us to cook our own food. They even let us borrow some utensils for cooking.
9. From all the searching I did before finding this place, I believe Casa is the only place they allow bringing in of food. There are not much good places to eat in Bolinao peeps, so I suggest you bring your own to cook. I think only Casa is the place that allows that and does not charge corkage fee. One factor why I chose this place, and with a group of 13, food budget is most important. You can never enjoy even the most wonderful view or the most comfortable bed, when everybody is starving.
10. Went to Bolinao Falls and planned to buy food there for lunch only to find out there really is very little choice of places to eat and and not worth the money. So, I called Kuya Bong just as we were about to leave the falls after 12 noon, hungry and tired, to ask if they can whip up a lunch with even just one viand and rice good for 13 of course, and by the time we got to Casa, everything was ready, hot and filling. Everybody was happy. I was more than glad for the extra effort they gave to accommodate my last minute request. And I paid 1/4 only of the price I would have paid if we ate in some restaurant outside.

CONS:
1. Again, this is a B&B, so please lower your expectations when you get in the door. Amenities are good enough. Pool is clean. But If you want to swim in a nice beach, go to Patar. Or one of the 3 Bolinao Falls. Be ready with money, quite expensive paying for trike rides, unjustifiable entrance fees, life vests, cottage rentals, and food, with very little choices...that is, if you find any :(
2. I don't care about total loss of network signals at some areas in Bolinao, or weak wifi in the resort, or not enough cable tv channels, or water in the shower was not hot enough. I tend to detox from those when I am on break. But the biggest and quite unacceptable issue for me in this place was running out of WATER in the shower/bathroom. Those 3 days was a bit miserable just because each one of us experienced taking a shower and water will run out :( esp at night. I am not sure if they turn it off by 10 pm and only open it around 6 am...but there was totally no water during that time. We experienced taking a shower during daytime and it happened too. I do hope they will solve that problem. Coz' that part really sucks. If this issue gets resolve, then I will consider going back to this place....
But in the meantime, I would like to commend not only Kuya Bong but all his guys there, his staff for being always willing to help, buy us softdrinks from stores outside, helping us by telling us how to get to places around there we plan to go to...asking us if there is anything else we need. I have spent vacations ranging from 5 star hotels to budget ones, here and abroad, but the greetings and the thoughtfulness of the people who serve you will always be obvious when they are sincere in doing their jobs to make the guests comfortable. It doesn't matter if you pay premium price if the service staff cannot make you feel you're welcome. The guys in Casa I can say, belong to that very few that add to the welcoming, 'will take care of you' ambience of this B&B :)

The Amara room has a decent size. It has a huge cabinet, perfect for your clothes and stuff. It has a flat screen TV with good signal of cable channels. The bed is super comfy. Air con is functioning really well. It is equipped with complimentary bottled water. And the room has its own toilet and bath.

BUT the room doesn't have a decent lock for the door. The bathroom is small. It doesn't have a hot water. The toilet doesn't flush well. The drainage is not functioning well either. The TV is placed beside a window with no curtain. During daytime, we can't properly watch anything as the ligth beam from the window bounces on the TV screen.

OTHER THINGS TO CONSIDER: The resort is not accessible from anywhere. It is 5KM away from the bus terminal. Tricycle ride costs P100 one way. There are no stores outside the resort so make sure you buy whatever you need from the market that you'll pass by before reaching casa. The resort is sea front but is not beachfront. They have a wonderful pool, though (overlooking the sea). Casa doesn't have a restaurant. But Sir Bong (caretaker) will be glad to prepare your meal should you wish to. Sir Bong and his staff were very warm, hospitable, and friendly to us. They made sure that they provide whatever we need to make our stay comfortable.

The place is so serene. And I love the view from the terrace. The rate is so reasonable to think that we had the whole place for ourselves during our stay. Given the chance, we would love to come back here. And same as the other reviews, we experienced the best service from the caretaker of the place. He and his family is so courteous and so nice.

One thing to improve though is their shower, I wish they have heater installed.

We got to Bolinao at around 4pm..Place was quiet,,clean.Staff were super helpful.I developed high grade fever and they made sure i was comfortable. The only hassle when we were about to have dinner , the staff told us they ran out of food so my hubby and son had to look for a restaurant outside of the resort which was difficult to find because not many establishments were around. So may i suggest that the resort should have food especially for the guests arriving late.
I had to checked out at 2am in the morning for my fever got so high and had to be brought to medical attention. We never got to appreciate the resort surroundings and amenities..But i saw a small pool thats it..

We like this place as they have an infinity pool especially we have teenagers and baby with us. The room we got is nice but the cleanliness is average. There are mosquitos which u can expect in the province. So bring ur off lotion with you.The stuffs are accommodating and friendly. This place has entertaiment area as well which includes Billiard table and karaoke machine which u can use for free until 10pm. It's far in the centre but they can serve food as well. I guess u only have the sea view in the room but u are not allowed to swim.

We stayed for two nights in the Ana Room which was good for two persons. It had 1 queen size bed, a flatscreen tv with satellite channels, ensuite bathroom, aircon, and mismash furnishings. Bathroom fixtures were all corroded already from the saltwater air, no hot water shower, and the bathroom had a funky smell (perhaps because of hard water or seawater air?). It was windy in the afternoons/evenings during our stay so the draft from the room’s sliding glass doors - which did not work properly - sent the curtain covering it flying and gave howling wind sounds. There were also black ants inside the bedroom and bathroom. The room was generally clean though and they did refresh it when requested. Overall, the place needs some refurbishment and repainting, or stay in the newer section of the property especially if you’re visiting Bolinao as a group.

Breakfast was Filipino dried fish with egg, rice, and coffee. The other option was corned beef which looked and tasted like an inexpensive canned variety. Note: there are currently not much restaurant options in Bolinao. We had our other meals at the Puerto Del Sol Resort around 3kms down the road from Casa Almarenzo, at Adora’s in town, and at Bolinao Seafood Grill near the town. All were fine. I gather that the old Sungayan Grill along Balingasay River will open for business again in a few months. Otherwise, you may arrange to have your lunch and/or dinner at Casa Almarenzo for an additional fee.

Parking was inside the property and secure. The caretakers did not have a (spare) key to lend us so we can lock the room ourselves. Internet was via wifi stick so one had to go to the common area to get signal (this was fine since we're on holidays when internet was not needed that much). Lounge and common areas were clean. There is a pool at the B&B but no beach, although you can walk along the rocky shore during lowtide in the mornings to hunt for shells. For a full beach experience, head to Patar Beach.

The caretaker and his family were very hospitable and helpful. Casa Almarenzo is a nice place if you’re not particular about corroded bathroom fixtures and furnishings.

Response from Jun R, General Manager at Casa Almarenzo Bed & Breakfast
Responded Jan 27, 2015
Dear Guest, Thank you very much for taking the time to review our property. Your input and the feedback from all our guests are vitally important to us and we always want guests’ expectations to be met upon arrival. Being a beachfront property has also its downside particularly if you’re using metal or steel fixtures and furnishings since they tend to corrode faster and more susceptible to rust due to high salinity of the wind and breeze from the sea. We apologize for this letdown but we noted your comments and since we are currently undergoing renovations and continuously adding more amenities in the resort, we are prioritizing this area of concern. Our guests are the most important part of our business, and we will continue to do our best to give each one the most enjoyable time when staying with us. Thank you also for the positive comments regarding cleanliness and customer service. We hope that you will give us another chance to have you as our guest, and if you wish, you may call me directly at the number below, and I will make your reservation personally. Best and warmest regards, Jun Roldan General Manager 09175559128

Small but ideal for seniors or those who like peace and quiet. A simple but picturesque place with a big, long view of the ocean. The infinity pool was small but again, it's just right for the number of guests during our stay, which is just our group and a couple. we had the pool to ourselves (3 of us) by late afternoon when a short warm rainfall happened - then while looking at the beautiful expanse of water meeting the blue-grey sky, a full and vivid rainbow appeared. The rain stopped and I floated on my back staring at the sky and the rainbow. Amazing.
For food, some nights we ate outside resort but mostly stayed for the resort's breakfast or the staff ordered for us. Recommended dish: bangus (daing or inihaw) - so good!
Recommended thing to do - have coffee in one of the tables near the pool while staring out into the early morning ocean. Feel small - and happily content.
