Having seen the very positive reviews on this resort, my partner and I travelled from Manila to for a Valentine's getaway and was very shocked that our hotel room was in an appalling condition - dust everywhere, the air conditioning was dripping and there were cracks and damages to the flooring.

Not only was the room in bad conditions but also the food was not up to standards and were very pricey for the small proportions.

This may be the only true hotel-resort in Bolinao. It has the widest white beach and very shallow waters. The sunset here is magnificent. It is spacious in land area. It has adequate parking space. You have a variety of room options. Has casitas, kubo, mansion room, and standard room, and nipa huts/cabana by the beach. The hotel has big pools, you will love their infinity pool- the water is warm and is quite big. This is the only hotel with an acceptable pool in the town. It has a bar by the poolside with a good view of the ocean. The rooms were expensive though. The service really needs to improve particularly in the reception and reservation area. They will ask you for payment for everytime you will need something like towels, dog cages, etc.. That is on top of the security deposit that they will ask from you. It is so much of a hassle, can't they just place everything in one billing for you to pay so you won't get bothered everytime you need something. On this part, the COMFORT is really sacrified. The staff needs a lot of training in handling their guest. It seems that they are after your money everytime you ask for something, each detail equals a payment demanded by a staff each and every single time.. The resort is also NOT PET FRIENDLY. The resort is relatively neat. Still this resort is one of the better options in Bolinao. But IMPROVEMENTS in their SERVICE must be done.

Would of been a 3 without the bad experience at check out.
Check in good nice and friendly my partner and i were welcomed warmly with a necklace and shown to our room clean and fresh but a little smaller than the normal hotel room. We were in a Mansion Villa room.
My partner had a sleep i went exploring and took photos and went for a swim in both the pools. The grounds well maintained and it was very clean. Lots of staff just standing around not doing much went and sat in the pool bar waiting for service someone finally stopped doing nothing and came over and said you had to go to the restaurant for service i asked was this the pool bar i was told yes but no one attended to it you could drink there but had to go to the restaurant for a drink. Very strange. Found a bar bythe other pool there was a bar attendant there but had to be prodded and poked to serve you.
Had dinner at the restaurant food ok nothing special the view was fantastic and the sunset amazing but my camera decided at that time to run out of battery so couldnt capture the moment. They gave a complimentary bowl of pork crackle which in the end turned out to be very ironic.
An average buffet break fast then the debacle that was check out. Had the rudest most arrogant person i have ever dealt with in any form of customer service. She take great joy in implemting every one of the Dont Do this dont do that policy or we will charge you for it. I was under the impression like every other hotel i have ever stayed at you get two bottle of complimentary water not here no way.
So after a heated debate i left this resort with a very bad and bitter feeling all over 76 pesos not even worrying about but obviously the resort not going too well if they get nasty over two bottles of water which i honestly believed were complimentary. I should of paid for my complimentary bowl of pork crackle and i checked in an hour early whch incurs a 10% charge per hour so i got away with that one lol.
I am getting married in November was going to bring about 20 or 30 poeple from Australia to stay there can't recommend this place to anybody if they get so nasty over 76 pesos and with there dont attitude instead of yes we can which provides better customer experience. I have a list of there rules ofr Don'ts but too long to list ands be assured if you break any one of them you will charged and have a very rude and arrogant person talk down to you.
I have 1 Don't too Don't stay here .When no more people come they might change their attitude and policies Cheers

This resort truly is an epitome of the word "worst". Management, service and quality is at its worst.

We arrived early thursday, around 12pm april 17,2014 and as we arrive, no rooms were yet available so we were accompanied to their nipa hut beach front while waiting for our room. (No payment) we stayed there, ordered drinks and already swam at the beach while waiting. Literally we were already hanging out. After swimming we decided to eat merienda in their restaurant, few steps away from the nipa hut and horror started.
Their waiters im not sure if theyre overwhelmed with guests but they really didnt know what their doing and this waiter, jerry was obviously not happy and a little bit rude. (Not super rude but told us, "baka mag follow up kayo ng follow up, mga 50mins or 1hr and serving namin). We ordered 2 pastas and 1 pancit and it took and hour or so to arrive only to taste the worst pasta we ever tasted.. We just kept adding Salt, pepper, salt and pepper..

That night, we had to eat somewhere else because their kitchen is closed by 9pm. We ordered pancit somewhere else and when we went back, we were charged food corkage of P2000.
Double the food price daw. How in the hell is our pancit P1000? We wouldnt order food from outside if they serve food inside!

We were still okay and not complaining and still trying to make the most out of it..

The next day, we got another nipa hut to start our day. There were three and we were in the middle. we were asked to move to the left nipa hut cos according to the guy, another group will occupy it. We didnt complain and agreed. Trying to enjoy like a human being, we wanted to order our food at the nipa hut but they said it is not allowed, so we left our stuff inside the hut for people to know that there are people staying in the hut. We left the nipa hut for the convenience of the resort.

When we arrived in their restaurant, the waiters said that serving time will be 2 hours followed by "they are not accepting customers anymore." Wow!!!! We had to talk to the manager and ask to fix this issue.

After waiting for hours and eating tasteless food, we didnt complain and when we went back to our nipa hut, there are group of people who are already occupying our nipa hut and the people inside the nipa hut said that the management took our stuff and should blame them.

We talked to the managers, laurie and this other guy telling them how dare they move our stuff without our knowledge and gave the nipa hut to other guests without our knowledge. They dont treat guests equally. They claimed that they paid for it. They didnt even asked us to pay for anything when we stayed there the first day and mind you, we stayed there the last day without also paying. Their management is the worst. The guy who moved our stuff claimed that the group of people cursed him and told him to move our stuff, but why cant they ask them to move? They said sorry and gave us this stupid place without a table and chairs to make it up. We told them that they really should make it up cos we had the worst vacation of our lives and still continue to having the worst vacation.

They next day, we requested for a late check out (a way for them to make it up) but they didnt even agree when we asked first. The second time we called and explained they should be the one offering a late check out or even a discount because of everything that happened, thats the time when they agreed. Worst worst worst resort!!!

If you are from other provinces, maybe you'd appreciate this resort but if youre from metro manila, dont even bother. You'll get disappointed with how these people handle their resort. Petty stuff like salty water from the shower and sink is also low blow but it's understandable since it's pangasinan. Asking for towels took 50mins also. 4 times of calling and following up. Oh and They have only 2 channels. Was so excited to leave this resort. Beach is so dirty. Good thing we had great company to make up for it.

This is only the time that I was able to give a review on this resort . A bad experience flash back on me again thinking of it .Iam going for holiday again soon in the Philippines and would like to have a good experience this time !Went there last year with my family . I was searching for a nice beach to go and saw this trough searching on internet but at the end It was not a good experience ! I went to Philippines for just a few weeks holiday and would like to treat my whole family to go swimming and experience there white sand even just for a day .Staff are not great at all . They think maybe that we can't afford to pay it by the way they acted on us ! My sister and law and one of there manager and security guard had a confrontation .Point her is that you should respect your guest and don't judge the simplicity on how a person looks .We don't act posh we're just simple people But we have money and can afford to pay . Never will I go back again and bad experience .It did ruin all our day at that moment . Wouldn't recommend at all .

Here are the list why you should not consider this place.
1. Although they put in their website that they have wifi, they do not!
2. No foods allowed. They will charge you a corkage fee of 150 pesos for a bottle of coke! The weird part about this is that there restaurant is only open until 10pm and their room service ends at 6pm! So when you get hungry, your screwed!
3. The owner is there but don't even smile to her guests. Maybe her plastic surgery don't allow her to do so.
4. There's no continental breakfast. Their buffet food is always the same!
5. The beach is not good. the area is surrounded by rocks so before you can reach the water, you have to walk further.
6. Ive been here so believe me its not worth it. Go somewhere else rather than waste your money at this place. Surely, if you don't listen, you'll write here too eventually!

Went to stay here with colleagues after driving almost 9 hours, only to be "greeted" by the most inhospitable front desk officer EVER.

Imagine being welcomed to a beach resort with this spiel:

"Welcome to Puerto del Sol. Our checkout is strictly at 11AM. Linens and towels are provided, but if you ask for extra, there's a charge."

That's the most inviting way to welcome guests to a any hotel. I hadn't even walked into the room yet and already I didn't feel welcome.

The sad part is that the rooms and food are actually decent, and the place seems well maintained. But they really need to change their front office staff. Or actually train them in HOSPITALITY.

I'm glad this was a business trip because if my wife was here (she was FO for one of the top resorts in Boracay) she would have torn the GM and FO a new hole to breathe out of.

Stay away from this place.

I went to Bolinao, Pangasinan on March 18 with my CSB friends.

We stayed at Puerto del Sol during our day trip. Here's my review:

Reception
The resort guards and reception staff are courteous to guests. They even let us see the whole resort before we decided to stay.

Facilities
They have a wading pool with fountain for kids and a big pool with depth from 3ft to 5ft. They also have a jacuzzi but there is schedule to use it. Lounge chairs can be found around the resort. Open cottages are available for use to day trip guests like us. You can rent a locker for a minimal refundable fee. They have kayaks that you can rent by the hour. On the beach you'll find a volleyball net, but we didn't ask if it's for free though. We lounged on the chairs under a tent near the beach shore and it was very relaxing.

Shower Rooms
Each shower room has 3 stalls and 1 toilet. Clean enough for our standards. No hot water though.

Security
Guards roam the resort. One of them stays near the open cottages. We even left our things in the open cottages while we're in the pool. None of our things went missing.

Beach
The water gently slopes down and is perfect for kids. We walked for a few meters out before the water reached to our thighs. The sand is mixed with dead corals and a few sea grass. We didn't mind the grass but the dead corals are like rocks that hurt our feet sometimes.

Reservation
We bought coupon vouchers from Groupon / Beeconomic for our Day Tour. When I called the reservation office in Makati to reserve our vouchers, they said that the resort is fully booked for day trip guests. My friend called the office again, they said that they accept limited numbers of vouchers per day and that they already accepted maximum number of vouchers for March 18. The reservation staff added that we can still go to their resort and just pay the regular rate.

During our stay, we are the only Day Trip Guests in the resort. We confirmed this because the security guards have their own record of guests in the resort. I think the resort conned us into buying the voucher, now that I didn't like.

In the end, my friends and I enjoyed our stay at the resort.

BEWARE in buying the promo vouchers from group buying sites for this resort, they will tell you the resort is fully booked when it is really not and move your trip to another day that will be convenient for them.

Expenses
------------
250 - entrance fee per person
700 - open cottage for the whole group
100 - locker for our valuables (refunded upon check-out)

I am an RCI Member who just stayed in puerto delsol last Sept. 2011. I was so upset to read those negative reviews from the other customers.

Before I chose to stay in this resort I usually read reviews or comments first..but "what the heck!" I am a frequent traveler (I am a RCI member) and would know as soon as I stay there and leave the place.

Yes, some of the reviews were true like; security is so strict! but c'mon this is just proving that this place is truly securing their customers safety! Yes it was also true that foods or wines being brought in are being corkage. But when the resident manager explained to us why they do such, i understood and accepted their purpose.

The people were all accommodating from the security guys (in black at night..hahaha) to the wait staffs. Me and my wife had a chit-chat with the manager several times during our stay and we have guessed taht he is not from that place because he was so smart with any topic we wanted to discuss. My wife also joke that the manager was a cyborg! since from the whole day we see him working. and she even the manager one time, do you sleep? and we laughed.

The resort was well managed and even the greens are all gorgeous! The security people are all alert and well trained.

Only problem is the beach area. I pity the staff who cleans (rakes) the weeds but still manages to smile..hope the local community would help each other.

PUERTO DELSOL IS A PLACE TO VISIT FOR YOU TO EXPERIENCE THEIR UTMOST SERVICE.

PS: I ONLY WROTE THIS BECAUSE IT WAS SO UNFAIR TO THE RESORT AND THE MANAGEMENT AND ESPECIALLY TO OTHER CUSTOMERS WHO EASILY BELIEVES ON NEGATIVE REVIEWS.

WE WILL VISIT AGAIN THIS RESORT AND WILL BRING OUR KIDS WITH US NEXT TIME.

ALSO, OUR KIDS WANT TO SEE YOUR TOWELS (ELEPHANT AND DOG) WE ONLY SAW THAT WHEN WE TOOK A TRIP IN A CRUISE.

MORE POWER TO YOU!!!! THANK YOU AGAIN FOR TAKING CARE OF US!!!

All year round, we were really looking forward to our annual R&R, our get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. We were really excited when we saw the pictures of the resort in their site but when we arrived there...

1. Service with a frown - we were met with frowns and frisking.

2. Watered down sodas

3. Limited pool time - the pool closes at 8pm

4. Limited bar and restaurant time - we were made to stay under a leaky canopy with no lights (they turned off the lights and we had to ask for a measly 4 votive candles so that we could continue with our team-building).

5. Foreign-named mediocre food.

6. Botched up land trip - charging us an extra fee of 2 hours because we spent 4 hours going around the sites (we were not informed that there's an additional fee and that the tour was supposed to last for 2 hours only)

7. Wifi unfriendly - the establishment boasts of wifi connection for the guests but it is free for 1 hour only, after which, you will be charged a couple of peso per hour.

8. 1 hour use of amenities (billiards, basketball, etc.) - We rented 2 dorm-type rooms and 1 casita and they are only giving us an hour per room of amenity use (there are 32 of us, mind you).

9. Food was supposed to be buffet but we had to ask for refills of drinks.

10. The worst thing of all. One of our co-worker overheard 2 waiters talking to each other, saying; "puro sila reklamo no?"

We enjoyed the company of each other during our stay but I will not recommend it if you want to stay in this place. It is mostly over-rated.
