I was visiting friends in the Philippines and we visited north Philippines and went to Bolinao for sightseeing and stay in this resort. The forest landscape remind me of Ubud in Bali but located on the beach like Seminyak so best of two worlds. We really enjoy the Kubo near the ocean which is same word for small house in Indonesia. The food was very delicious.
My kids enjoyed the kiddie pool and collecting all sorts of sea creatures which of course they returned to the ocean. They bragged about their neemo fish discovery and the giant clams in front of the resort. The salt water pool worth checking out.
Totally love the place since it's so serene and relaxing. We missed their yoga sessions since their yoga teacher went back to Manila after the lockdowns. This is a perfect place for those looking for a nice quiet getaway in a beach forest kinda surrounding. Nice shallow white beach right on front for safe swimming. We availed the kayak to tour around. Definitely worth coming back. Check out their forest pool too. Open all night.
I come here quite often to work remotely since the resort internet is just as fast as my office in the city. I rent the hut by the ocean and you won't need any air conditioning in this place. Nice friendly dogs to keep me company in my Kubo at night. Room comes with a nice early breakfast.
It's been a few years since before pandemic that we returned. Glad it still has that quiet and chill vibe. We like the new pathways that makes it easier to get around. It was a nice weekend staycation. Make sure you stay a few nights. We also visited Bolinao falls 1 which the manager said is now owned by Birdland.
False advertising. We stayed last weekend and we are still talking about it now, talk about leaving a mark... not in a good way. We had a couple of issues with this resort and I'll enumerate: 1. We were told we are going to stay at the 5 stories Bolifugao Premier. When we arrived, we wore told that the room was taken down since it collapsed. Had they mentioned this before we never would have pushed thru with the reservation. Granted the initial booking was pre-pandemic, but we were told as late as 1 week ago that the room is still available. The staff told us that they are trying to "clean up" all the reservations, so perhaps that's the reason why they were not upfront about the room availability. 2. The air-conditioning is too weak to cover the large room (Stonesomething) they had to put it high powered electric fans and even that is not enough. Also, the TV is not working, the staff said they don't have a signal. 3. Mice, cockroaches, and mosquitoes. We left our food at the table and when we woke up there were mice droppings on it, the bed also had some mice droppings and we also found a roach egg under the pillow. One of our friends got bit by a roach also while sleeping and we had to hunt down the roach as big as my thumb. 4. The pools are a bit filthy. Grime and "lumot" can be found in the main pool, it's too slippery also and just plain walking can be a challenge when ur inside the pool. 5. The staff told us that the Cafe Bar was open 24hrs, but around 5am there's no one manning the bar and no personnel can be found. I personally had to go through the kitchen and refill our jug of water. *If I wanted to steal something, I could have since THERES NO ONE AROUND. 6. I don't see myself bringing small kids here since the rocks are very sharp and they are all over the place. The pathways are also very unstable and any small kids or ever senior citizens would have a hard time navigating around the resort. 7. They advertise different "bamboo" oriented vehicles to ride but all of those are either broken or full of rust already, nothing is functional (carriage, jeepney, tricycle). 8. They offered us one of the large rooms, and they gave us the "extended weekends rate" we did NOT stay during the extended weekends, we came from work on a Friday and went to work on Monday. This is a classic example of the "let's chalk this to experience" type of situation. We would have left and not stayed, but they told us that the deposit could not be refunded already, thus we were forced to stay 1 night.…
False advertising at its finest! Do not waste your money on this dump. The place is dirty, the most basic of facilities aren’t working, eg flush, aircon, TV, and the food is nowhere close to healthy! I paid for land and water activities that the resort could not even give - and to this day, I am waiting for Michael Parayno to respond to my emails for a refund!
My wife and I went there for our wedding anniversary. Pros: Even though the place was fully booked, we didn't see a lot of people because it is inside a forest and rooms are well spread out. The beach is small but private with a lot of shaded areas. The water in front is nice for snorkeling. A lot of seaweed so you have to swim a lot to find corals which is ok. There is a big clam area but we didn't find it and the staff weren't able to point us in the right direction. There are some shaded platforms by the water which the staff let us use. You can rent those as well so I am guessing if they are not rented overnight you can use them. We did... The staff is very friendly and helpful. I asked them to start a fire in the pit outside when we arrived and the staff left without asking for a tip. Super high speed internet. The fastest I have ever seen in any resort/hotel and I have travelled globally. Lots of nature and places to hang out. Cons: We rented the house and thought it was overpriced for what it was. TV positioned in a place nobody could ever watch it. No couch in front, you would have to stand in front or sit on the floor. Since its in the second floor, you can't move furniture in front of it.. Nothing plugged in the TV so you can't watch anything anyway. The amenities in the house were lagging, no plates, no utensils, nothing. Couch was pwede na, bed was comfortable but no linen. Lots of insects in the bed such as tiny spiders etc. The restaurent was hit and miss. Some things were good some things were ok lang. Overpriced for what it was but resorts have to make money and its been difficult for them. Place is dog friendly which is good for some but we had to put up with a dog owner who left his dog crying outside his room all night... The bidet was leaking all weekend, they didn't fix it and the CR floor was flooded the hole time... In conclusion: We travel prepared so we were not really bothered with the issues above. We brought our own linen and pillows, kitchen stuff, towels, etc. If not for the poor value of the house I would have given the place 4/5 If you are looking for a plush place to get pampered and you complain about the smallest detail, this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a place to relax, this is a great place. We already booked to go back in December and this time we are trying a different room. Hopefully we will find those giant clams :) Comments for the owners: It would take a lot of money to correct the issues mentioned above. Buy a stick computer for 4K so people can watch netflix. Put the TV downstairs in front of the couch. Buy some decent linen for the bed. Use some bug spray in between visitors. Get a proper plumber to fix plumbing issues, put a few more lounging chairs in the house near the TV. Buy kitchen stuff... Then the place house is certainly worth the price you charge for it.…
It is frustrating and felt I have been rip-off. The place has not been maintained, un-kept and garbage lying all over. We were given a room that was not the one we reserved and paid for. The room was dusty with crawling insects and surrounded by a dirty environment and dilapidated kubos. What was written on their page was totally a hoax. My advice if you want to experience the place, go check it out, or just walk in but have your options open for a back up plan. Don't pay in advance.
After over a year being locked down in Manila, I finally had to get out to get my sanity back. Took the family here for a week and really had fun enjoying the place. The resort is so so so quiet except the sound of birds and the trees blowing against the wind. The week went by so fast. Really did not look forward to the drive back to hell in the city for who knows how long we get lock down. I wish this pandemic gets over so I can come back here again. I was just here for holiday but I saw a bunch of people working online at the resort. Some were tech people, some call center people, and some just independent workers. I wish I had a job online too. Felt a bit jealous. This is perfect place if nature is your thing. It certainly is not your typical resort. The staff is all smiles so that makes it great during such a depressing time.…
