I booked 5 rooms for 7 guys at the end of May. I choose this accommodation for its location to Weymouth. We had 3 nights the first disappointment was that there was no breakfast available and at £90.00 per room I thought was a bit expensive. We ate in the restaurant first evening and the meal was a great. After a really good nights sleep we grabbed a bacon sandwich from the Sailors Return and on to Lyle’s boat Supernova after a brilliant day’s fishing it was back to the Lugger inn where the chef cooked some of our catch to perfection. The next day we were fishing again another great day, that evening as there was a wedding taking place so we decided to try the next pub in the village which was also lovely. Then back to the Lugger inn where there was young lady playing a guitar and singing and she was very good.
So all in all we had a very enjoyable stay. Liam and his staff were excellent and worked very hard.
It’s early days for Liam and his team but with the hard work they are putting in they will make a great success of it.

Visiting the area after going to the Swan sanctuary in Abbotsbury on the way back to warmwell caravan park. Desperate to find a pub with decent food. This place exceeded our expectations. Amazing food well worth the price. Absolutely delicious with normal things offered eg ribs, lasagne, burgers etc but all with a unique (but not pretentious) touch. All food was piping hot when served which was great as we were sitting outside due to coronavirus limitations. Friendly staff. Nice ambience outside. Definitely worth a visit. Thanks.

Had a double room with shower.

Hosts were welcoming on arrival and gave good introduction to inn as well as guide on a4 for fire procedures and wifi etc.

The hallway can be narrow and some area are small in height so beware if ur tall.

The room on this occasion was small but for 2 night stay reasonable.

Have previously stayed in the spa room which in comparison was double the size.

Inn serves excellent food and with 15mins to portland Harbour makes ideal for short stay.

Only cons: car parking can be limited as same parking used for inn and guests. There are spaces both front and back. As well as some on street parking but if inn is busy then can make it interesting.

Room was cold, turning radiator on didn't seem to improve, but as i didn't report this to management then cant really complain.

Room keys to be left in reception, but if u need to leave early no where to leave key.
Had to resort to leaving in post box and sending an email to advise.

Maybe a key box outside reception door?

We ate here whilst visiting the area. Although the food was okay (average), the service was disappointing. We felt the pub itself need some TLC, and the price of the food was far too expensive. It did not reflect the quality of the food or the pub itself. When asked if everything was okay after having eaten, any negative feedback received a silence, rather than a 'I will pass that feedback on to the chef' or something similar. We ate out last night at a restaurant chain eatery, where the food was delicious, the service outstanding and the price far better value. I would not recommend visiting the Lugger Inn.

Went for a meal 25/6/2021 It was busy which is good for a local business, however, waited ages for our drinks, food was mediocre I had chicken breast with bbq sauce it was dry and tough, also hate food served on what looks like chopping boards.
We didnt get asked our details for covid track and trace, there wasnt even the scan poster to check in on view, lots of people moving around without masks. We were out the back in a back room and honestly trying to get more drinks was a trial, noone was checking to see if we and other customers wanted further drinks etc, didnt even get offered the dessert menu! the young waitresses were sadly lacking in customer service, one even argued with a a customer when they served up the wrong drink!! Tables were left without being cleared. They need to get their act together. I am sure it is probably a good pub to have a drink in if you are seated in the main pub, or outside, but where we were shockingly bad.
sadly will not be visiting again very disappointing

Very very small room,! No 6
Above skittle alley so noise levels until 2300 very loud
The room was really a single in my opinion.
The bathroom so small , with tiny sink and the thin thin towels not the stay I had planned.
The bed was comfortable but again a small double.
The sign says B&B however no breakfast is served, as the lugger inn is in the middle of a housing estate very little options and no advice as to where you could go.
Vey disappointed and at original price not worth it at all
Rooms are tired and sad, corridor had old furniture just stored there, carpets need attention.
Car parking difficult when inn is busy.
Lady at reception took our complaints on board and a discount was agreed which was kind.

Popped in as driving through did lunch. Restricted menu due to covid but very safe & everything adhered to

Lasagne was lovely & came with with a garlic baguette! Expected a couple of slices. Mum has a BLT ciabatta which came with a very generous 4 slices of bacon. Staff were very accommodating

We booked a table for my dad's 60th around six weeks ago, then checked on the day to make sure we had it, then upon turning up were told we didn't have a booking. A make-shift couple of tables were reluctantly put together by some young inexperienced staff, a clearly quite upset family were then given the excuse that they had "a busy day" and "they don't appreciate our attitude towards their staff". Given the amount of money we were going to spend this pub require some serious rethinks about how lucky they are to still be open. Arrogant "owner", instead of using feedback to constructively improve the business, they seem to treat the customer as being in the wrong. Don't deserve to be open, if you're considering going to this pub, DONT! Go to the nearby Turks Head instead. Close The Lugger in down, teach them a lesson in customer service

Response from Liam Coles, Owner at The Lugger Inn
Responded Aug 9, 2021
Thank you for your comments. Our genuine mistake for the table booking issue was dealt with by our young members of staff which your table took upon themselves to be rude and give them a hard time when they were only doing their best to deal with the problem. After a member of your party was then rude again, requesting an additional menu in an aggressive manner and snatching it from the 15 year old member of staff, walking off swearing and shaking your head. At this point I was happy to defend my young staff and ask you to not continue to be rude to them. Yes, they need training, yes they do not know how to deal with every situation in the correct way, yes they are young and learning their trade so.....yes I do not expect any member of the public to make them feel small and be rude towards them. I hope my staff will improve with experience but I am very happy with their progress so far this summer. I am not happy to have anyone visit that will treat them like your party did and you are correct we do not need custom from such a party. Liam(Landlord)

We arrived on an Sunday late afternoon and booked in, asked if we could book an evening meal but we were too late, it wasn't busy food wise. they did order us a takeaway from local chippy which was really good.
However when we asked about booking a meal for Monday evening we were told that the kitchen would be closed as the staff were being given a rest as they had been very busy lately. There did seem to be an atmosphere.
It also says that a free breakfast is provided but guess what they were not providing breakfasts. The Pub complete was closed all day and evening on the Monday not just the kitchen.
The room was clean and adequate everything worked.
What has annoyed us is that no notice about theses circumstances can or could be found prior to or during our visit on the web page. A part of us choosing the Lugger INN was because it provided just what we required being A pub a restaurant and a room, but two out of three were missing. We have worked throughout the whole pandemic with very little time off and were just looking forward to a short break!

Great pub, food and staff!! 10/10 would recommend. I felt very welcomed and it had a lovely family feel to it. The chicken burger was out of this world and the customer service was brilliant even when busy
