We stayed at St Georges Motor Inn for ten nights at the end of March and over the Easter period. It is a great position for exploring Thornbury High Street restaurants, bars and shops. A tram stop is at the door and Thornbury Station a short walk. We were able to park at the door of our room and despite the location the room was quiet, spacious and spotlessly clean. The room had all amenities, and we especially enjoyed the garden view and bird watching from the large rear window. David was very helpful when we first made our booking and during our stay. Bob was on the front desk when we arrived and very helpful also while we were there. We visit our daughter frequently are looking forward to our next stay.
Only stayed one night, but we were most impressed that this quality accommodation is available at such a good location at such a low price. Drive your car right up to your door is a plus too. Spotlessly clean inside and out with all amenities in a large room in great condition. We'll be back.
I travel to Melbourne weekly for work and this is the place I choose to stay. The rooms are clean, fresh and comfortable and the staff are welcoming and helpful. There is breakfast on site, which I plan to try one morning when I don't have to be out at 6am. The location is very hand and even thought it's on a busy road, it is reasonably quiet after 10pm or so. This is my new home away from home!!
My daughter gave birth to a child last Friday & my wife & I needed accommodation reasonably close. I found the St. Georges Motor Inn via Trip Advisor and contacted them. David on the front desk when I rang was very amenable great to talk to. I asked for a ground floor unit with a shower recess because my wife is not to good on her pins. When we arrived there, Bob was behind the desk (Colingwood supporter) and on booking in offered me a disabled room which suited me perfectly. The Restaurant was snot open that night but they had plenty of suggestions and gave me a Chinese restaurant menu and said they deliver free. Which they did. I would suggest to anyone you could not go past this establishment. Bonza!
We stayed here as not much choice close by the beautiful Thornbury Theatre where we attended a function. Staff were friendly enough but our room on the first floor absolutely stank of stale cigarettes and faint incense, they had no doubt tried to get rid of the smoke smell. We had to open the window for fresh air but were then subject to non-stop traffic on the dual carriageway outside. Despite the bed being comfy we had a bad night's sleep. All the basics were provided but nothing special. Overall the smell was just too much, couldn't recommend unfortunately.
