Built in 1745 this lovely building still retains its charm with its original stone floors and converted courthouse on the first floor. Now a comfortable hotel located close to Padstow & Fowey.

The pictures on the website are nothing like what the rooms actually are. We booked a standard room so was not expecting anything amazing however apon arrival the reception area was very dark and looked like it needed abit of updating. We were greeted well by the owners and shown to our room. The room was very small and had a few spots of black mould on the ceilings. We walked into the bathroom and the shower was very small we were just about able to get in to it. The ceiling in the bathroom also had some black mould. The kettle in our room would only work if we held down the switch whilst it is boiling which is clearly a health and safety issue you couldn't even barely get one cup of tea out of the kettle. The rooms could do with a good fresh lick of paint. We went into the restaurant area and was told there was no bar we asked to see a drinks menu and was shown a menu that is on the wall. We had 2 bottles of beer and a malibu and coke which cost £19 when we asked to pay we was told it had been put on our room and when we wanted to pay cash we was asked if we had the correct amount because there was no change. As for the pool on the site we expected it to be open between May and September as this is what we had read however according to the book in the rooms its only open when it's hot. When we looked at the pool it was completely empty and barley had tiles around it. Breakfast was included in our stay and we asked for some toast we were given 2 slices each that we had asked for but only 1 small butter portion each. My partner pick up an orange and apple however the orange had gone off and when he squeezed it was black and dusty inside. I wouldn't stay at this hotel again.

We were on the bargain break so food included and we were therefore very pleasantly surprised as to the high quality and variety of the evening menu and breakfast was excellent. The room in the main house was also clean and comfortable The staff were also all very friendly and helpful. Well located for Eden and Heligan and an hour from RHS rosemoor which is also worth a visit as is Lanhydrock House and Gardens nearby.

Not quite whwt I expected more a quaint good quality B & B than a country hotel. The room was ok decent bed quirky shower over bath. There is a restaurant and the food is very goos and nicely presented. The breakfast was very nice and a decent choice. The staff were friendly and helpful. Reasonabl value for the cost.

we stayed here early October and were struck by how friendly and helpful ALL the staff were. The hotel itself is just outside Bodmin in a lovely peaceful setting (no such thing as light pollution here!) Evening meals were very pleasant with a good choice of courses.

Just had a Sunday lunch with my wife. We attended with a group of friends (15 in all) and we were seated in a beautiful conservatory type room. The roast my wife & I had was called a trio of meats (beef, lamb & Pork) and it was the best meats we had eaten in a long time. The service was excellent by very efficient young staff & the owner was very welcoming. The Veg was possibly on the small side for anyone who is a big eater but our overall impression was that this was a great location to recommend and we hope to visit again soon.
