From the moment of our arrival until we left we were made to feel like Lord and Lady of the Manor. The attention to detail from all the staff was outstanding. Our room was large and overlooked the lake and was very clean. Eating in the restaurant was a very enjoyable experience. Christmas Lunch was a seven course extravaganza which was beautiful. On Boxing Day the weather outside was miserable so in the afternoon we decided on tea and cakes? We arrived in the lounge and were presented with a menu and chose scones, clotted cream and jam with a pot of tea. The order was taken by the General Manager and she informed us that the scones would take 15 minutes as they had to be cooked from scratch. Not a problem as when they arrived they were to die for. An overall exquisite stay for my wife and me. We will be back.…
Just back from staying 3 nights over Xmas. From the moment we arrived we were looked after like a lord and lady of the manor. The attention to detail was beyond anything we've had elsewhere. Lunch on Christmas day, all seven courses, was absolutely gorgeous. On Boxing Day it was wet and windy so we decided scones and coffee in the lounge in front of a roaring fire was what we needed. Well. They made the scones to order. We were told it would take 15 minutes. Who cares! Well worth the wait. It may not be the biggest hotel we've stayed at but it's definitely the best.
We have just returned from a 3 night stay at Leeming house with Charlie are little puppy and what a magical Gorgeous hotel it is! You first arrive to Bethany who was very welcoming and friendly who gave us all the information needed to make you feel Covid Secure! We dined in the library and Ryan the new manager who just started that week was so friendly and attentive and knew exactly what he was doing and would keep Charlie entertained all night if he could which was great to see. The food was absolutely yummy especially the sticky toffee pudding which I would highly recommend! and everything was just spot on. Hats off to the chef! I would highly recommend this place, the views, the walks and the waterfall which is a 10 minute drive away just makes it the perfect get away! We have already booked in for Summer and we look forward to returning! Thanks again Team Leeming keep It up and see you soon …
We had a wonderful time at Macdonald Leeming House. We stayed for 2 nights and the views are so spectacular, my partner chose their grounds to ask me to marry him! They aren’t kidding when they say that their grounds overlook the lake! It’s just gorgeous. Shout out to Ben as well who very kindly insisted on making us feel special by taking lots of lovely photos for us and just making our stay really memorable with his kind and approachable manner. All staff were very friendly. The food in the restaurant was lovely and reasonably priced, the breakfast was delicious and the dog friendly room had doors that opened to the grass outside making our lives much easier. It’s also conveniently situated for walks, shopping and eating out in Ullswater. Merry Christmas to all the staff and thank you once again.…
The hotel is in a great location on the shore of Ullswater and there is a short walk down to the lakeside. The hotel is a historic house from the 19th century so it is quirky with an underlying sense of grandeur from the Georgian/Victorian period which makes it a very comfortable and relaxing place to stay. We stayed for three nights in a very comfortable room with a lake view. Everything was clean and it all worked. One day the weather was pretty terrible with wind and rain, as you would expect in the Lake District, and we were able to sit in comfort in the Lounge looking out as the squalls blew down the lake - marvellous! The staff were all very efficient and helpful and I must make a special mention of Ben who had the uncanny knack of always appearing at just the right time to ask if we needed anything. Because of the Covid restrictions meaning that you can't be spontaneous and just turn up in pubs and restaurants we decided to eat at the hotel every night. The menu is fairly selective, and not cheap, but the food is excellent. We told Ben that we were thinking of going out to try and find a Sunday Dinner but were concerned that everywhere would be booked up; he had a word with the chef and it magically appeared on that evening's menu. We will be going again!…
