The Island of Bintan to the south of Singapore is full of history, marked by fallen empires. Its tranquil bays were long used by the Orang Laut pirates as a refuge. This is where Club Med Bintan Island, a haven of tranquility and refinement combining modernity with Asian tradition, now nestles. From the terrace of the Bar, feast your eyes on the mass of lapis-lazuli blue, mother of pearl and emerald, from the pool to the lush gardens. Nearby, Ria Bintan Golf Course is also a golfer's heaven.

Julienne (Juju) the CDV/ general manager has created a supportive friendly customer focused proactive high quality team at Bintan Club Med in his short time taking over in May 2023. Julienne was there to greet us personally on arrival which is always a good first impression. His friendliness and engaging personality is reflected in his team. This holiday has restored my faith back with Club Med to provide the great experience for our regular large family reunion which spans ages from 9 to 90.
Club Med holidays are not cheap so choose your CDV / general manger wisely as it’s their team that makes the difference - rather than the accommodation.
What we liked about this club:
The initial email contact with Kev - it was proactive, polite, he had a “can do” customer focused attitude, as soon as I received his email I knew we were going to have an easy hassle free holiday. (Unlike the terrible attitude from Maria at Bali club med xmas 2022/new year 2023) He provided relevant information about the “dress code” so you could pack accordingly. Kev tried his very best to coordinate the relevant departments with club med Hong Kong, Bintan ferries and club med Bintan transport to meet our upgrade ferry request. He went the extra mile. We all appreciated his efforts. Kev also confirmed before our arrival with Sam who is the efficient, excellent Food and Beverage Manager that a table had been reserved for us the same table in the same location throughout our stay which is very important for my elderly forgetful father. He also confirmed that my elderly parents would have an easy access room and even sent a photo of few steps they had to climb just incase. Wow isn’t that amazing such attention to detail! Kev confirmed which blocks we as a family unit would be in, so we
were close to each other as the resort is very long and has lots of step access.
The food quality and variety was excellent - there were always authentic Indonesian dishes to try, the spices in the food gave depth of flavour. The pizzas are made from dough on site and cooked in the pizza oven.
Yoga with Jean was good quality and varied and set at a pace that made it accessible to different levels. The aerial yoga is very popular and worth a try so always book at 7:45pm the evening before. The setting for yoga is peaceful and unique on a wooden platform under cover - listening to the waves is gorgeous. Good quality mats - they looked like they were Lulumen and blocks provided - although if you have a travel yoga mat always worth bringing with you.
Golf - a tiny net range - best experience was with Moche - having a private lesson at Ria Bintan the resort next door. You have to pay extra obviously for the private lesson, Ria Bintan has a long proper range. Really enjoyed 9 holes with a caddy and buggy. Thanks also to Putu for his company and Teddy in the golf shop arranging and rearranging our golf day with such care and attention.
The spa at the resort is wonderful, with individual rooms accessed by walkways. Many of the rooms have sea views. The massages and treatments have increased significantly in price from 2018 now 1593,000 Indonesian rupees around £90 for 2 hours.
Slack line show is unique and great to watch - Yuga the GO is a world champion.
The evening shows are fun especially the circus - the theatre is air conditioned which is a bonus compared to most of the Club Meds we go to.
Trapeze is a must try, wear long fitting trousers. Great circus team - Monika the circus team, Alisa, Jamal, Ishi and Cheryl. Cheryl is so impressive how strong she is at catching!
The Beach sand is golden and fine. Ploughed every day but still has the odd blob of tar. If you get it on your sandals, there is baby oil available at the Bar and Water sports station to remove it.
Mini club well attended but teen club as expected doesn’t really have many kids as they mainly drift off by lunch time. Sadly for our 11 year old there wasn’t any shows for her to participate in. She has loved being in the mini club shows since the age of two. We loved meeting up with Iwe the Petit club manager who we got to know at Club Med Bali. Hello to Kitty, Amanda, Bimo, Wayne, Bimo from Mini Club.
Club Med seems to be downplaying competition and so no sport prizes, no wrist bands or medals. It’s all changed.
As Platinum members we appreciate being recognised for our customer loyalty and investment in the club med concept, so we are sorry not to see the different coloured key bands. Washing machines use to be free but now it’s 70,000 rupee around $4US, quite pricey.
Having been to over 12 different clubs visiting 20 times over 10 years we have met many GOs, it’s always lovely to recognise many friendly faces and make new GO friends. Nice to meet Billy - lifeguard again from Bali. Other landsport team we had the pleasure to meet were Anouska & Leo - Watersport, Tanjung - archery , Jason and Narumi - an amazing dancer! Thank you to Nur - the lovely waitress who remembered us from 2018, thanks to Abu, Ria, Ado, Owen at the bar. A warm greeting to Sujit the visiting restaurant manager - we have had the pleasure to meet back in Tomamu & again at Bali. Thank you to Artha - HR - who makes the most amazing creatures from coconut leaves. Denny - our housekeeper who cleaned our room so well and took the time to make towel art for us too! Wendy the Chinese PR for a lovely welcome. Thank you to Sentha for assisting my parents so that they could access the gym. Thanks to Yui - Digital and Ali - Amazing Family for their company at meal times. Club Med suit guests who are extraverted and who want to enjoy engaging with the staff and be active in the club med experience eg the line dancing in the evening, aqua gym at lunchtime. It’s not for everyone - but as a family we embrace it and thanks to Julien, he has restored my faith back with Club Med (after the very poor experience under Yoan at Club Med Bali), we will follow his progress and hope to meet him again at another club.

We spent 7 nights in Club Med Bintan over Christmas and had a fantastic time. We prefer holiday where our young children can be looked after and entertained, while there are diverse activities for the adults too, and we feel Club Med is perfect to meet these needs. Bintan is our third Club Med and so far the best.

The room is very basic, yet we prefer to stay out most of the day so it didn't bother us much. The beach is very sandy and easy to access to, the food is nice that there are not only Chinese, Japanese and Korean corners but a corner for Indonesian signature which we really appreciate (There was little Thai food served at our previous Club Med in Phuket, which we thought was a great pity), and the spa is excellent.

We love the activities, I did daily flying trapeze, the circus team was amazing, they are Susan, Wayne, Allison, Asfar and Kate. Chelsea and Ousman from sports team were also very dedicated and friendly. And water sports team, Alex, Iman, Sastra, they tried their best to accommodate last min request.

My kids were well looked after at mini club thanks to Sheba and Rowena. It was nice to see Rowena again after Phuket, she looked after my children at both trips. My children love her.

It feels like there is a star team there that try their best at work, led by Chef de village, Jonathan, who manages the village, tries to talk to as many ppl as he can, and performs on stage at night. The daily evening performances were must-see and they are followed by party afterwards!

We really appreciate the effort made to ensure visitors a great Christmas. If cotton bud and cotton pad can be filled immediately once they are used up (I used up the ones in our room on day 2, but they never got refilled again), and if the cleaner could see the poor big moth that stayed in our bathroom for two nights and help set it free when they came to clean, it would have been even more perfect! But these are nothing compared to the fun we had, we hope to go back again!

We were hesitant if we should proceed with the trip due to the initial COVID19 that's happening in Feb 2020. One of our friend have to drop the trip for a valid reason and 2 of us proceeded with it.

It was my first trip to Club Med. Just wanted to have relaxing carefree trip. To my surprise, it was more than relaxing but really great fun experience even without joining any of their group activities.

We were well received and welcome from the time we reached Bintan ferry terminal till end of trip.

We were one of the few exceptional Singaporean Chinese during our checked in on the first day. Few foreigners did tried to avoid and question me during our conversation which we feel was acceptable due to their ignorant. Some apologised for passing rude remarks which is another plus. We ended up party with them and keep in touch after the trip. Hope will get to meet them one day again. One particular senior receptionist male staff was only one bad experience that we received over the few days stay. He judged and shown all on his face and service. No idea how he manage to work in such esteemed resort for his poor arrogant fake service as being the front desk.

We got to meet new friends during the trip, never once feel bored. The staffs joined us during meals which you can politely reject if you feel like having some quiet time chatting with your trip buddy.

We received by big surprises that the staffs shared great informations about Club Med activities and things to do within the island and even their originate countries. They have extended their services by helping us without no second thought. Their perfomances are great joy to spark the image of ClubMed.It was magnificent and everyone of the employees surprised us with their talents.

We have know few great staffs like Siva, Moshe, Ousmane, Fery and Calvin especially lovely Elena. There are definitely more than these except we didn't managed to remember all their names.

The room is clean and housekeepers take initiative to reach out to us for extra cleaning and replenishing services, deeply appreciated. Beside to being an old resort but I have to say that it is well maintained except that many parts of the resorts have really worn off and defected on the exterior. Hope that the management can in due time consider for a refit which will definitely attract more tourists after the COVID19 period subsided.

Thank you so much to Ghazzo and your Team and we are so proud for you. We will be back once the virus stop and the world get in proper peace.

My weekend in Club Med Bintan was a very frustrating one.
I payed 800 SGD for one weekend and my expectations were very high. I saw the nice pictures on the website but obviousely photoshop makes everything possible...
Starting with the room, which was very dark and simple without any spirit. The furniture were very old and damaged, the curtains very dirty and the floor not really clean (a lot of dust in the corners).
The whole Club area is very old and sometimes shabby.
The pool area very simple, too.
I would like joined the classes e. g. the yoga class but all classes didn't take place on Saturdays.
Usually at the beach bar (discription) they serve healthy fruit juices in the morning between 9-11am but you couldn't get because the staff at the bar didn't understand anything.
At the terrace restaurant the same, the staff didn't understand and speak English as well. I ordered a salad with fish from the late lunch menu and I got the most tiny salad I' ve ever had without fish. I complained that but nobody reacted.
The food in the buffet restaurant Waterfall was varying. Sometimes it was not too bad (breakfast, lunch, e.g. indian food) but the meat lacked quality.
They had also a big problem with oil on the beach which is coming from the off-shore shipping. Very often the beach is closed I couldn't go swimming.
In summary for a short weekend it isn't worth to go with Club Med, not for 800 SGD. Better have a staycation on Sentosa where you can have a very luxery hotel for such a price without any trouble.
One thing that was very good was a two hour massage in the Spa Asmara; this was my highlight....

While being thrilled that you chose Club Med as a home away from home during your holidays, we truly regret to read that some of your experience fell short from your expectations. Our rooms are regularly being refreshed to provide our guests with the comfort they are entitled of our Club Med Resorts worldwide, as this is always our top priority. We have passed your comments onto our housekeeping manager. We are truly dismayed to hear that you experienced a language barrier with some of our staff while staying with us please rest assure that this is not at all the impression we would like you to leave with. We have passed these comments onto our Management team to keep this an isolated case. We regret to hear that our cuisine wasn't of your likings, we have shared your feedback with our head Chef to prevent this from happening in the future. We are truly sorry that you were unable to enjoy the beach in its natural beauty, which got tainted by oil spilled from large ships during the time you were here. The Club Med Bintan Island team is working hard to clean up the beach so that guests like yourself may enjoy the beach and the water activities. We are also in contact with the Central government in Jakarta in charge of Maritime, and they have indicated and expressed in the media their full support to actively manage this situation and work on measures to prevent this. We hope that your next vacation with us will allow you to appreciate our pristine private beach, without the inconvenience of oil stains. We do appreciate you taking the time to share your observations with us as it is a valuable tool for us. We truly hope to have the great opportunity to host you again in the future in one of our beautiful Villages around the world. Yours sincerely -Your Club Med Team

My room, particularly the bathroom, stank daily for the 4 days I was there. One can smell it the minute you step into the room, on arrival. Probably poor or old plumbing since smell is a constant. Room is clean otherwise but overall, it feels old and used and in sore need of renovation.

WOW.....where do I begin! From the moment you step off the Bus onto the premises of Club Med you are greeted by the very friendly "G.O” Team. You are shown around the Place and taken to your Room. “Putu” was our young man that showed us around. Fabulous man and extremely friendly. We stayed in a room with a Balcony and a sea view. The room was clean and tidy and plenty of room. I loved waking up to our beautiful Seaview. We were very handy to the Pool and Restaurants & Bars. Nothing is a problem on this Island. The staff and G.O's are extremely friendly and very helpful, always with a smile. They are there to make your holiday experience a memorable one. This certainly was the case for my Husband and I. There were a few extra special people that really stood out for us on this trip who I really need to mention: “Ujang” who is The Golf Pro on the Island. My husband decided to get some lessons while on holiday. “Ujang” went well beyond any expectations that my husband had. This young man was extremely good at his job and absolutely FABULOUS in every way possible. He was super friendly and extremely kind hearted. He was so adorable I wanted to wrap him up and take him home with us!! We both “LOVED” this guy. If you are staying here please look him up and check out his Golf he is brilliant and an amazing teacher. The second in charge of the Island was Ghazzo who is super lovely and very friendly, fabulous guy we loved him. The actual manager of the Island is Jonathan both these guys make you feel very special and always remember your names……truly don’t know how they do it!!! The last guy I need to mention who really looked after me Food wise, was the Head Chef Damian…….What can I say is “WOW”! I am a Vegetarian and he saw me walking around the buffet and noticed that I was looking for all the Vegetarian food. He made a special point of coming up to me and showing me around and explaining all the dishes that I could eat. He then went next level and made a point for keeping an eye out for me every Lunch and Dinner so he could explain all the options available to me. On our last night he actual made be something special only for me. I was absolutely blown away and so impressed. He really made my eating experience outstanding so much so I was excited for Lunchtime and Dinner!! I sometimes find on Buffets the Vegetarian options can be repetitive but certainly not on this Island.
The weather was superb for our whole stay we will differently be going back.
Thanks Bintan Club Med, missing you guys already.

Spent 7 nights and cannot fault Club Med Bintan. We booked it as it was a convenient stop for us to have a week in warm weather after our trip to Europe and on our way back to Australia. I was not expecting too much, but it turned out to completely surprise us and definitely reached way above our expectations.
We had two rooms on the ground floor that were inter-leading. This was very convenient having teens. The rooms were very comfortable and I could not fault ours.
The G.M Jonathan, was fantastic.
The GO's/bar/ buffet chefs/cleaners/reception staff were all so friendly and accommodating.
The Exec Chef, Damian, truly went the extra mile for us one evening, by delivering a special request. We could not believe the effort he made, and will never forget it. Thank You so much.
Entertainment every evening was great, so much talent.
The food, was to an extremely high standard. A variety of foods to satisfy lots of tastes/cultures.
Great 2 hr massage at the Spa.
Thank You Jonathan and all for a fantastic week. We miss you!

We are at the end of a 7 night family holiday with our 13 and 8 yo kids and it has been fantastic. Being more remotely located than the Bali resort we stayed at last year (also amazing), Bintan has a slower paced, more chilled feeling though there is no shortage of entertainment and activities if you’re wanting to be in the action.
Our kids have loved participating in their respective aged kids clubs with really engaging and caring organisers (special mentions to Ali, Rowena, Fin and Grace) and getting involved in scheduled activities and performances. The evening performances by the staff have been of outstanding quality, notably the dance performances and aerial acrobatics by the circus/trapeze team.
The staff here have all been exceptionally warm and welcoming, and accommodating of our requests. Our 13 year old’s gluten free status was very well catered for with both the executive and sous chefs (Damian and Roshan) touring the buffet with us and checking in almost daily to see all was satisfactory for him. He also had his birthday here and Damian was happy to have the chef team make him a birthday decorated pavlova big enough to share with his teens club friends. The restaurants provide a wide variety of international cuisine to a high standard, with menus constantly updating for variety. The bar team do an amazing job keeping drink orders moving quickly and always with a smile (special mention to Fahmi who’s company we had the pleasure of for some of the White Night dinner).
Although Bintan does not have a Zen pool (18 +) like Bali, we were able to identify quiet times by the pool during the day if we wanted.
The rooms are built up a hillside so if stairs are an issue request a room accordingly, the upside though is that you get plenty of exercise and most rooms have a view. We booked standard rooms this time and found them comfortable and spacious enough, and very efficiently serviced daily ( thanks A’at for our lovely clean rooms and cool towel arrangements)
One downside we found was our trip coincided with very strong tides in the Sth China Sea which meant that while the view over the beach was gorgeous, there were no water sports available for safety, and at times there was black oil washing up on the beach. It was cleaned by the beach patrol team each morning but unfortunate. Check these details before booking as we were not notified at any stage.
If you’re after an easy, relaxed but far from boring family holiday we recommend Club Med Bintan in a heartbeat ❤️ You know it was special when you get a bit teary as you’re being farewelled.

We hope that your next vacation with us will allow you to appreciate our pristine private beach, without the inconvenience of oil stains. We thank you once again for your valuable feedback and we look forward to welcoming you again soon in one of our wonderful Villages. Sincerely, -Your Club Med Bintan Team

Our room was large enough, well equipped, comfortable and extremely clean.
It was located at a very close proximity to the Front Desk, to the restaurant, the bars,to the shows locations and various physical activities. You could get to most of these locations under cover in case it was a rainy day.
The Chef De Village, his name is Jonathan Abbadie is amayzing, talented and very very friendly and supportive.
The Yoga instructor, his name is Kevin is simply an outstanding instructor and all class participants like to attend his sessions.

I was a member of 8 (4 couples) who recently stayed Club Med for 7 days. From the moment we boarded the bus at the ferry terminal we were well looked after by all members of the Club Med staff.
Our accommodation was clean, spacious and serviced each day.The food was fresh, tasty and dishes changed regularly. The drinks ( mainly beer) were cold! The pool and other sports facilities were 1st class. Four of us were golfers and the 2 courses ( Ria Bintan and Lagoon Jack Nicklaus) we played on were in excellent condition and challenging.
The new concept of wrist bands that are you room key was fantastic because there was no need to carry cards with you .
All the staff were great but I must mention a few that made our trip even better. Cyp, you made our golf game organisation a breeze. Greg was always available for some SA v Aussie banter. Eby at the bar must have been sick of serving us but he always had a smile on his face. Elaine we enjoyed your singing every day.
Finally if you want a relaxing, stress free holiday without taking out your wallet all day then Club Med is the place to be.

Currently monsoon season, meaning all water sports pretty much are cancelled until May
Answer from Lynda H
Unfortunately no. The room key was tagged as a wrist band. We didn't bring any valuable around. There're a lot of beach benches around the beach where you can place the towel and sandals

Call club med bintan and you can get a transfer arranged. It's easier and they help to settle all ur luggages as well. If you really wish to take a taxi by yourself, it will take probably abt 15-30miins max. Most club med visitors I know take the arranged transport. However I heard that it costs approx 60sgd to get a 2 way private taxi to and fro the station.

This was our one disappointment on our visit to Club Med from 24th December to 1st January. (It was otherwise absolutely amazing!) Their website says water sports during the 5-6 months of monsoon season would be subject to weather conditions, so we assumed they might close during heavy rains or storms, however they were permanently closed for the whole week despite no rain or storms. It was quite windy a lot of the time, which must have been the reason, however it seemed that they didn't even consider opening the water sports at all or have staff ready to do so. Luckily there were many other fantastic activities to join in so we were never bored, however if you're particularly interested in the water sports, you may choose to visit outside the (very long) monsoon period.
