Over-priced (because of its Key location?) provides a small room adjacent to the highway and a canal, a heated pool, but NO nearby reef and NO diving. The open-air restaurant/bar serves bar food and pizza,

I disagree with the negative reviews. I stayed there for two nights in mid-January, 2023. The first thing that I noticed was how welcoming and helpful the Front Desk (located in the dive shop) was upon my arrival. When I went to my room, it smelled clean and and it was as clean as any major hotel chain that I've stayed in over the past several years. I had my air-conditioner running at night so I didn't hear any noise from the bar or outside the room. I do know that a bands were playing both nights at the TiKi bar both nights because I went to the TiKi bar for a couple of post-dinner drinks on my second night of my stay. The bartenders at the TiKi bar were very attentive and friendly. In addition to the wonderful Front Desk staff, I enjoyed a nice dive at Looe Key Reef with the crew from the resort. The boat crew was professional and laid back. I appreciated that fact that they had a secure dive gear storage area for gear to hang and dry so it didn't have to be hauled back to my room. They even let me use the storage area the second day of my stay even though I dove with another dive center (due to my trip with Looe Key Resort being cancelled because of a lack of passengers). They were also respectful enough to notify me of the cancellation the day before so I could make other diving arrangements & I was refunded the cost of the trip immediately. If I ever need accommodations in the Middle Keys again, I will definitely make Looe Key Resort my first choice.

Checked in with a younger woman who was very kind and friendly. Told her that ESPN was not available on the room TVs but is available only in the Tiki Bar. Wanted to watch the College Championship in the room and she was upset that we couldn’t. Back at the room, which was of acceptable condition, I realized I hadn’t received a receipt for my credit card charge. Went back to the office and a very disinterested older woman couldn’t have cared less about the TV problem (they want you to spend money in the very expensive Tiki Bar) nor did she care that the receipt she grudgingly printed for me did NOT show the actual transaction that took place. Told her I’d have to go online to my bank to see the charge and she just said, “Oh well.” She is representing this Resort in a very negative light and does not seem qualified to be working in a customer service position. We will not be returning to this Resort in the future.

Resort is run down and in serious need of updating. I feel this is relatively expected in the keys - high tourism and volume so definitely not a complete turn off. Front desk gal and man (Josh) were very kind and personable and an absolute pleasure to work with. However, Curtis the dive instructor was not overly personable and didn't really seem like he wanted to work, or work with the patrons at the resort. The manager was terrible. (MEGHAN MANAGER) The first time I requested to speak to her, she literally wouldn't come out and have direct conversation regarding conflict. The second time when I asked to speak to her directly; and not via employees she was very curt and quite frankly, pretty rude. Luckily we were able to get out of our rooms for the last 2 nights and take our business elsewhere. As repeat guests at this resort we were much happier under previous ownership. Whoever took over the resort most recently needs to take a deep look into their employees and how they're portraying their business. If I walked in there to book a room day-of, and I was addressed by that manager (MEGHAN) I would absolutely not book with them. IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON DOING AN INTRO TO SCUBA WITH THEM!!!!!!! Make sure you have your medical forms filled out previously. As a young, healthy 26 year old in the hyperbaric medicine field, I did not anticipate having any issues with the medical forms as I was just subjected to a full dive physical through work. IF YOU HAVE HAD COVID EVER, make sure you request a physician evaluation form ahead of time and are able to have a Dr. Sign off on the fact that you don't have any lingering covid symptoms or ailments. This held us up from being able to dive. This is totally on me for not looking into it ahead of time. However, it was handled VERY POORLY by the staff. Our dive trip for the afternoon actually ended up being cancelled due to weather anyways. If it's a weather cancellation, they will refund you; however they would not refund us due to the medical waiver. We ended up leaving the resort ultimately as we weren't diving and the customer service was terrible. I really hope the $250 over a scuba technicality was worth losing over $500 in room accommodations and losing repeat costumers. That all being said, if you're not looking to dive exclusively with this group.. BOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE. The lower price tag is not worth the lackluster, moderately gross rooms. We ended up switching rooms because the first one had a toilet that was not even fixed to the floor.. tiki bar was fun, but no live music and just had terrible lingering cigarette smell. Employees working with propane tanks and smoking cigarettes right next to it. Stay here if you want to be blown up lol. Current owners, if you're reading this, Josh is the only one of your employees that knows how to manage or speak with guests. He also seems to be the only one with an inkling of understanding on how to compromise with costumers and make them happy. Not necessarily 'happy' even.. but not too displeased to the point where they'd rather stay literally anywhere else.

Beautiful and very nice people, rooms were clean and staff was great. Checkout snorkel trips. Snorkel trips were a ton of fun which we all enjoyed, it was like a natural aquarium snorkeling at Love Key.

I wouldn't know how the diving is because the dive shop has canceled both times I have booked due to there not being enough bookings. We did stay for this second booking and please set your expectations accordingly. If you want an antiquated, low-budget (but high priced), small, motel style, did I say antiquated?, LOUD, room, this is the place for you. It appears that "nothing a little paint won't fix" is what has been happening at this place for the past 30 years. Don't upgrade anything... just throw a fresh coat of paint on it. LOUD music coming from the Tiki bar late into the night. This place is in a SERIOUS NEED of a COMPLETE renovation! After they canceled the dive trip for the next morning, we just left and did not stay the second night. Yes, it was paid for, but the room just wasn't worth it. We headed home to Key Largo. All the negative reviews are accurate.

Called to look into booking a res. for a trip to Looe Key on Labour day Monday - "we don't have any trips going out today, being that it's a holiday" - and laughed at me when I asked if they had no holiday guests looking to go out diving.... Really ?

Their reef dive reviews are great, but DO NOT stay at the facility. We booked a 2-night stay so we could be there for the morning reef trip only to be told they didn't have enough people and would only do an afternoon trip. Surface conditions are of little concern to divers, but wind with 1-2 foot seas would be pretty unpleasant for snorkelers. Yet they were fine booking me under those conditions. Adjoining the property is a tiki bar which projects booming bass noises well into the night, making sleep impossible. Despite being as far from that as possible in my tiny, antiquated AND vastly overpriced room with a rattling air-conditioner, the noise was still intolerable.. So I left, asking the front desk lady for a refund for the 2nd night, but have received no response.

Josh and James did an amazing job on our snorkeling adventure. Didn’t make me feel bad for asking lots of questions, great sense of humor, and over all knowledge of the waters. The trip was amazing but our guides really made the experience the absolute best

We were really late, but the staff did their best to serve us and we got to stay overnight. Location conveniently located on the way to Key West. A reasonably sized complex and its own large restaurant. The orchestra played live music and the atmosphere was relaxed and good. The hotel room has good air conditioning, a refrigerator and large twin beds. Those and pillows were also comfortable. The balcony was on the estuary of the river. Good but a bit hard priced place.
