This small hotel occupies an older property which has been maintained, decorated and furnished to the highest standard. It is situated in a quiet position on the main thoroughfare (pedestrianised at this point) about 500m from the centre of Santa Marina and the ferry landing. Breakfast, which comprised food of the highest standard, much of it home produced, was served in a delightful garden where lemon, mandarin, fig, mango and pomegranate trees grew. A deiicatessen, which doubled as a restaurant - Casa Lo Schiavo - adjoined the hotel. We were there in hot weather, when eating out of doors came naturally, but the interior of Cinque Balconi looked a cosy place to spend colder evenings too. All in all you have the recipe for a perfect place to stay, especially when you get such a warm welcome from Massimo and his staff.

Fantastic hotel that every member of staff work beautifully to make us feel very special and very welcome. Massimo and the team are brilliant. The restaurant next door was great too and a lovely sun trap of a garden out the back that we enjoyed very much. Would recommend this in a heartbeat.

Lovely place with a beautiful garden. However I was slightly disappointed with the bed which was very uncomfortable. The shower head was also broken. Staying out of season was lovely and quiet both in and out of the hotel but it made very little choice for places to eat. Only 2 restaurants were open on the island. On our 2nd night, there wasn't anywhere open to eat so I asked the manager if I could use the hob in the garden to heat up some pasta and was surprised to be told no sorry this is only a b&b! We had to make do with bread and cheese from the little convenient store.

This is an excellent base whilst on Salina. Clean and comfortable with a lovely breakfast and such a warm welcome from Massimo that we’re already planning a return visit. He even provided us with a breakfast bag as we had a very early ferry on the morning we left Salina. My husband and son ate in the restaurant next door and we’re very complimentary about the food.

Came here for three nights with the family. The room was clean, airy and well furnished. Breakfast was a delicious buffet with Sicilian cake, fruit, ham etc. But most of all from this trip I will remember the incredible natural kindness of Massimo. We had to leave early on the final day so he made us a picnic breakfast in a bag each. His natural care and attention to detail turn this from a good hotel to an excellent one. Really a great place.
